1 Timothy 4
1 Now the Spirit manifestly saith, that in the last times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to spirits of error, and doctrines of devils,
Der Geist aber sagt deutlich, daß in spätern Zeiten etliche vom Glauben abfallen und verführerischen Geistern und Lehren der Dämonen anhangen werden,
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy, and having their conscience seared,
durch die Heuchelei von Lügenrednern, die in ihrem eigenen Gewissen gebrandmarkt sind,
3 Forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving by the faithful, and by them that have known the truth.
die verbieten, zu heiraten und Speisen zu genießen, welche doch Gott geschaffen hat, damit sie von den Gläubigen und denen, welche die Wahrheit erkennen, mit Danksagung gebraucht werden.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be rejected that is received with thanksgiving:
Denn alles, was Gott geschaffen hat, ist gut, und nichts ist verwerflich, wenn es mit Danksagung genossen wird;
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
denn es wird geheiligt durch Gottes Wort und Gebet.
6 These things proposing to the brethren, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished up in the words of faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast attained unto.
Wenn du den Brüdern solches vorhältst, wirst du ein guter Diener Jesu Christi sein, genährt mit den Worten des Glaubens und der guten Lehre, welcher du nachgefolgt bist.
7 But avoid foolish and old wives’ fables: and exercise thyself unto godliness.
Der unheiligen Altweiberfabeln aber entschlage dich; dagegen übe dich in der Gottseligkeit!
8 For bodily exercise is profitable to little: but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
Denn die leibliche Übung ist zu wenigem nütze, die Gottseligkeit aber ist zu allen Dingen nütze, da sie die Verheißung dieses und des zukünftigen Lebens hat.
9 A faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
Glaubwürdig ist das Wort und aller Annahme wert;
10 For therefore we labor and are reviled, because we hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of the faithful.
denn dafür arbeiten wir auch und werden geschmäht, daß wir unsre Hoffnung auf den lebendigen Gott gesetzt haben, welcher aller Menschen Retter ist, allermeist der Gläubigen.
11 These things command and teach.
Solches gebiete und lehre!
12 Let no man despise thy youth: but be thou an example of the faithful in word, in conversation, in charity, in faith, in chastity.
Niemand verachte deine Jugend, sondern werde ein Vorbild den Gläubigen im Wort, im Wandel, in der Liebe, im Geist, im Glauben, in der Keuschheit!
13 Till I come, attend unto reading, to exhortation, and to doctrine.
Bis ich komme, halte an mit Vorlesen, mit Ermahnen, mit Lehren.
14 Neglect not the grace that is in thee, which was given thee by prophesy, with imposition of the hands of the priesthood.
Vernachlässige die Gabe nicht, die du hast, die dir durch Weissagung unter Handauflegung der Ältesten verliehen wurde!
15 Meditate upon these things, be wholly in these things: that thy profiting may be manifest to all.
Dies laß dein Anliegen sein, damit gib dich ab, auf daß dein Fortschreiten in allen Dingen offenbar sei!
16 Take heed to thyself and to doctrine: be earnest in them. For in doing this thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear thee.
Habe acht auf dich selbst und auf die Lehre; bleibe dabei! Denn wenn du solches tust, wirst du sowohl dich selbst retten als auch die, welche dich hören.
