1 Samuel 19
1 And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan the son of Saul loved David exceedingly.
അനന്തരം ശൗൽ തന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനോടും സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും ദാവീദിനെ കൊല്ലേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
2 And Jonathan told David, saying: Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: wherefore look to thyself, I beseech thee, in the morning, and thou shalt abide in a secret place and shalt be hid.
എങ്കിലും ശൗലിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാന്നു ദാവീദിനോടു വളരെ ഇഷ്ടമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യോനാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനോടു: എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൗൽ നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നു; ആകയാൽ നീ രാവിലെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു ഗൂഢമായോരു സ്ഥലത്തു ഒളിച്ചുപാർക്ക.
3 And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art: and I will speak of thee to my father, and whatsoever I shall see, I will tell thee.
ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു നീ ഇരിക്കുന്ന വയലിൽ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്റെ അപ്പനോടു സംസാരിക്കും; ഞാൻ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 And Jonathan spoke good things of David to Saul his father: and said to him: Sin not, O king, against thy servant, David, because he hath not sinned against thee, and his works are very good towards thee.
അങ്ങനെ യോനാഥാൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൗലിനോടു ദാവീദിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഗുണമായി സംസാരിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു: രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ ദാവീദിനോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്യരുതേ; അവൻ നിന്നോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ നിനക്കു ഏറ്റവും ഗുണകരമായിരുന്നതേയുള്ളു.
5 And he put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the Lord wrought great salvation for all Israel. Thou sawest it and didst rejoice. Why therefore wilt thou sin against innocent blood by killing David, who is without fault?
അവൻ തന്റെ ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടല്ലോ ആ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനെ സംഹരിക്കയും അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിന്നും വലിയോരു രക്ഷവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തതു; നീ അതു കണ്ടു സന്തോഷിച്ചു. ആകയാൽ നീ വെറുതെ ദാവീദിനെ കൊന്നു കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചൊരിഞ്ഞു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?
6 And when Saul heard this he was appeased with the words of Jonathan, and swore: As the Lord liveth he shall not be slain.
യോനാഥാന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു: യഹോവയാണ അവനെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല എന്നു ശൗൽ സത്യം ചെയ്തു.
7 Then Jonathan called David and told him all these words: and Jonathan brought in David to Saul, and he was before him, as he had been yesterday and the day before.
പിന്നെ യോനാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനെ വിളിച്ചു കാര്യമെല്ലാം അറിയിച്ചു. യോനാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനെ ശൗലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവൻ മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നില്ക്കയും ചെയ്തു.
8 And the war began again, and David went out and fought against the Philistines, and defeated them with a great slaughter, and they fled from his face.
പിന്നെയും യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായാറെ ദാവീദ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു പടവെട്ടി അവരെ കഠിനമായി തോല്പിച്ചു. അവർ അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടി.
9 And the evil spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, and he sat in his house, and held a spear in his hand: and David played with his hand.
യഹോവയുടെ പക്കൽനിന്നു ദുരാത്മാവു പിന്നെയും ശൗലിന്റെമേൽ വന്നു; അവൻ കയ്യിൽ കുന്തവും പിടിച്ചു തന്റെ അരമനയിൽ ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു; ദാവീദ് കിന്നരം വായിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
10 And Saul endeavoured to nail David to the wall with his spear. And David slipt away out of the presence of Saul: and the spear missed him, and was fastened in the wall, and David fled and escaped that night.
അപ്പോൾ ശൗൽ ദാവീദിനെ കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു ചുവരോടു ചേർത്തു കുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കി; അവനോ ശൗലിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു. കുന്തം ചുവരിൽ തറെച്ചു; ദാവീദ് ആ രാത്രിയിൽതന്നേ ഓടിപ്പോയി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.
11 Saul therefore sent his guards to David’s house to watch him, that he might be killed in the morning. And when Michol David’s wife had told him this, saying: Unless thou save thyself this night, tomorrow thou wilt die,
ദാവീദിനെ കാത്തുനിന്നു രാവിലെ കൊന്നുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നു ശൗൽ അവന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ മീഖൾ അവനോടു: ഈ രാത്രിയിൽ നിന്റെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടില്ലെങ്കിൽ നാളെ നിന്നെ കൊന്നുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
12 She let him down through a window. And he went and fled away and escaped.
അങ്ങനെ മീഖൾ ദാവീദിനെ കിളിവാതിൽകൂടി ഇറക്കിവിട്ടു; അവൻ ഓടിപ്പോയി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.
13 And Michol took an image and laid it on the bed, and put a goat’s skin with the hair at the head of it, and covered it with clothes.
മീഖൾ ഒരു ബിംബം എടുത്തു കട്ടിലിന്മേൽ കിടത്തി, അതിന്റെ തലെക്കു കോലാട്ടുരോമംകൊണ്ടുള്ള മൂടിയും ഇട്ടു ഒരു വസ്ത്രംകൊണ്ടു പുതപ്പിച്ചു.
14 And Saul sent officers to seize David: and it was answered that he was sick.
ദാവീദിനെ പിടിപ്പാൻ ശൗൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ ദീനമായി കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
15 And again Saul sent to see David, saying: Bring him to me in the bed, that he may be slain.
എന്നാറെ ശൗൽ: ഞാൻ അവനെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു കിടക്കയോടെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു,
16 And when the messengers were come in, they found an image upon the bed, and a goat’s skin at its head.
ദാവീദിനെ ചെന്നു നോക്കുവാൻ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു. ദൂതന്മാർ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ കട്ടിലിന്മേൽ ഒരു ബിംബം തലെക്കു കോലാട്ടുരോമംകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു മൂടിയുമായി കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
17 And Saul said to Michol: Why hast thou deceived me so, and let my enemy go and flee away? And Michol answered Saul: Because he said to me: Let me go, or else I will kill thee.
എന്നാറെ ശൗൽ മീഖളിനോടു: നീ ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നെ ചതിക്കയും എന്റെ ശത്രു ചാടിപ്പോകുവാൻ അവനെ വിട്ടയക്കയും ചെയ്തതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: എന്നെ വിട്ടയക്ക; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കൊല്ലും എന്നു അവൻ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു മീഖൾ ശൗലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
18 But David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel in Ramatha, and told him all that Saul had done to him: and he and Samuel went and dwelt in Najoth.
ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് ഓടിപ്പോയി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു, രാമയിൽ ശമൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു ശൗൽ തന്നോടു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവനും ശമൂവേലും പുറപ്പെട്ടു നയ്യോത്തിൽ ചെന്നു പാർത്തു.
19 And it was told Saul by some, saying: Behold David is in Najoth in Ramatha.
അനന്തരം ദാവീദ് രാമയിലെ നയ്യോത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു ശൗലിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി.
20 So Saul sent officers to take David: and when they saw a company of prophets prophesying, and Samuel presiding over them, the spirit of the Lord came also upon them, and they likewise began to prophesy.
ശൗൽ ദാവീദിനെ പിടിപ്പാൻ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; അവർ പ്രവാചകസംഘം പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതും ശമൂവേൽ അവരുടെ തലവനായിരിക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ശൗലിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരുടെമേലും വന്നു, അവരും പ്രവചിച്ചു.
21 And when this was told Saul, he sent other messengers: but they also prophesied. And again Saul sent messengers the third time: and they prophesied also. And Saul being exceedingly angry,
ശൗൽ അതു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ വേറെ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; അവരും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ പ്രവചിച്ചു. ശൗൽ പിന്നെയും മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യം ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; അവരും പ്രവചിച്ചു.
22 Went also himself to Ramatha, and came as far as the great cistern, which is in Socho, and he asked, and said: In what place are Samuel and David? And it was told him: Behold they axe in Najoth in Ramatha.
പിന്നെ അവൻ തന്നേ രാമയിലേക്കു പോയി, സേക്കൂവിലെ വലിയ കിണറ്റിങ്കൽ എത്തി: ശമൂവേലും ദാവീദും എവിടെയാകുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവർ രാമയിലെ നയ്യോത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു ഒരുത്തൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
23 And he went to Najoth in Ramatha, and the spirit of the Lord came upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied till he came to Najoth in Ramatha.
അങ്ങനെ അവൻ രാമയിലെ നയ്യോത്തിന്നു ചെന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേലും വന്നു; അവൻ രാമയിലെ നയ്യോത്തിൽ എത്തുംവരെ പ്രവചിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു നടന്നു.
24 And he stripped himself also of his garments, and prophesied with the rest before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and night. This gave occasion to a proverb: What! is Saul too among the prophets?
അവൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഉരിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേലിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അന്നു രാപകൽ മുഴുവനും നഗ്നനായി കിടന്നു. ആകയാൽ ശൗലും ഉണ്ടോ പ്രവാചകഗണത്തിൽ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.
