1 Peter 2
1 Wherefore laying away all malice, and all guile, and dissimulations, and envies, and all detractions,
Por lo que desechando toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y toda habla mala,
2 As newborn babes, desire the rational milk without guile, that thereby you may grow unto salvation:
Como niños recién nacidos, deseád ardientemente la leche no adulterada de la palabra, para que por ella crezcáis:
3 If so be you have tasted that the Lord is sweet.
Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno.
4 Unto whom coming, as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen and made honourable by God:
Al cual allegándoos, como a la piedra viva, reprobada cierto de los hombres, empero elegida de Dios, y preciosa,
5 Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados para ser una casa espiritual, un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables a Dios por medio de Jesu Cristo.
6 Wherefore it is said in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious. And he that shall believe in him, shall not be confounded.
Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, yo pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; y el que creyere en él no será confundido.
7 To you therefore that believe, he is honour: but to them that believe not, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner:
Para vosotros pues que creeis él es precioso; mas para los desobedientes, la piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, esta fue hecha la cabeza del ángulo,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of scandal, to them who stumble at the word, neither do believe, whereunto also they are set.
Y piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo, a aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; a lo que también fueron destinados.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may declare his virtues, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Mas vosotros sois el linaje elegido, el real sacerdocio, nación santa, pueblo ganado, para que anuncieis las virtudes de aquel que os ha llamado de las tinieblas a su luz admirable:
10 Who in time past were not a people: but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy; but now have obtained mercy.
Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado eráis no pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios, que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia, mas ahora habéis ya alcanzado misericordia.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, to refrain yourselves from carnal desires which war against the soul,
Amados, yo os ruego, como a extranjeros y caminantes, os abstengáis de los deseos carnales, que batallan contra el alma,
12 Having your conversation good among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by the good works, which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Y tengáis vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen a Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.
13 Be ye subject therefore to every human creature for God’s sake: whether it be to the king as excelling;
Sed pues sujetos a toda ordenación humana por causa del Señor: ahora sea a rey, como a superior:
14 Or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of the good:
Ahora a los gobernadores, como enviados por él, para venganza de los malhechores, y para loor de los que hacen bien.
15 For so is the will of God, that by doing well you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios, que haciendo bien, embozaléis la ignorancia de los hombres vanos:
16 As free, and not as making liberty a cloak for malice, but as the servants of God.
Como estando en libertad, y no como teniendo la libertad por cobertura de malicia, sino como siervos de Dios.
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Honrád a todos. Amád la fraternidad. Teméd a Dios. Honrád al rey.
18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
Vosotros, siervos, sed sujetos con todo temor a vuestros señores; no solamente a los buenos y humanos, mas aun también a los rigurosos.
19 For this is thankworthy, if for conscience towards God, a man endure sorrows, suffering wrongfully.
Porque esto es agradable, si alguno a causa de la conciencia, que tiene delante de Dios, sufre molestias, padeciendo injustamente.
20 For what glory is it, if committing sin, and being buffeted for it, you endure? But if doing well you suffer patiently; this is thankworthy before God.
Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? empero si haciendo bien, sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto es cierto agradable delante de Dios.
21 For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps.
Porque para esto fuisteis llamados, pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos un modelo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas.
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.
El cual no hizo pecado, ni fue hallado engaño en su boca:
23 Who, when he was reviled, did not revile: when he suffered, he threatened not: but delivered himself to him that judged him unjustly.
El cual maldiciéndole, no tornaba a maldecir; y cuando padecía, no amenazaba; sino que remitía su causa al que juzga justamente.
24 Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.
El mismo que llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos a los pecados, viviésemos a la justicia. Por las heridas del cual habéis sido sanados.
25 For you were as sheep going astray; but you are now converted to the shepherd and bishop of your souls.
Porque vosotros eráis como ovejas descarriadas; mas ahora sois ya convertidos al Pastor, y Obispo de vuestras almas.
