1 John 3
1 Behold what manner of charity the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called, and should be the sons of God. Therefore the world knoweth not us, because it knew not him.
Vedeți ce fel de dragoste ne-a dat Tatăl, ca să fim chemați fiii lui Dumnezeu; din această cauză lumea nu ne cunoaște, pentru că nu l-a cunoscut nici pe el.
2 Dearly beloved, we are now the sons of God; and it hath not yet appeared what we shall be. We know, that, when he shall appear, we shall be like to him: because we shall see him as he is.
Preaiubiților, acum suntem fiii lui Dumnezeu și nu s-a arătat încă ce vom fi, dar știm că atunci când el se va arăta, vom fi asemenea lui, fiindcă îl vom vedea așa cum este.
3 And every one that hath this hope in him, sanctifieth himself, as he also is holy.
Și fiecare dintre cei care au această speranță în el, se purifică pe sine însuși, precum el este pur.
4 Whosoever committeth sin committeth also iniquity; and sin is iniquity.
Oricine practică păcatul, de asemenea încalcă legea; căci păcatul este încălcarea legii.
5 And you know that he appeared to take away our sins, and in him there is no sin.
Și știți că el a fost arătat ca să înlăture păcatele noastre; și în el nu este păcat.
6 Whosoever abideth in him, sinneth not; and whosoever sinneth, hath not seen him, nor known him.
Oricine rămâne în el, nu păcătuiește; oricine păcătuiește, nu l-a văzut, nici nu l-a cunoscut.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you. He that doth justice is just, even as he is just.
Copilașilor, nimeni să nu vă înșele: cel ce practică dreptatea este drept, așa cum el este drept.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Cel ce practică păcatul este din diavolul; fiindcă diavolul păcătuiește de la început. Cu acest scop a fost arătat Fiul lui Dumnezeu, ca să distrugă faptele diavolului.
9 Whosoever is born of God, committeth not sin: for his seed abideth in him, and he can not sin, because he is born of God.
Oricine este născut din Dumnezeu nu practică păcatul, pentru că sămânța lui rămâne în el și nu poate păcătui, pentru că este născut din Dumnezeu.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil. Whosoever is not just, is not of God, nor he that loveth not his brother.
În aceasta sunt arătați clar copiii lui Dumnezeu și copiii diavolului; oricine nu practică dreptatea nu este din Dumnezeu, nici cel ce nu iubește pe fratele său.
11 For this is the declaration, which you have heard from the beginning, that you should love one another.
Pentru că acesta este mesajul pe care l-ați auzit de la început, să ne iubim unii pe alții.
12 Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one, and killed his brother. And wherefore did he kill him? Because his own works were wicked: and his brother’s just.
Nu precum Cain, care era din cel rău și l-a ucis pe fratele său. Și din ce cauză l-a ucis? Pentru că propriile lui fapte erau rele, iar ale fratelui său erau drepte.
13 Wonder not, brethren, if the world hate you.
Nu vă mirați, frații mei, dacă vă urăște lumea.
14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not, abideth in death.
Noi știm că am trecut din moarte la viață, pentru că iubim pe frați. Cine nu iubește pe fratele său, rămâne în moarte.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in himself. (aiōnios g166)
Oricine urăște pe fratele său este un ucigaș, și știți că niciun ucigaș nu are viață eternă rămânând în el. (aiōnios g166)
16 In this we have known the charity of God, because he hath laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Prin aceasta pricepem dragostea lui Dumnezeu, pentru că el și-a dat viața pentru noi și noi suntem datori să ne dăm viețile pentru frați.
17 He that hath the substance of this world, and shall see his brother in need, and shall shut up his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him?
Dar oricine are bunurile lumii acesteia și vede pe fratele său prins în nevoie și își închide adâncurile compasiunii față de el, cum rămâne dragostea lui Dumnezeu în el?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, nor in tongue, but in deed, and in truth.
Copilașii mei, să nu iubim în cuvânt, nici cu limba, ci în faptă și în adevăr.
19 In this we know that we are of the truth: and in his sight shall persuade our hearts.
Și prin aceasta știm că suntem din adevăr și ne vom asigura inimile noastre înaintea lui.
20 For if our heart reprehend us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
Pentru că, dacă inima noastră ne condamnă, Dumnezeu este mai mare decât inima noastră și cunoaște toate lucrurile.
21 Dearly beloved, if our heart do not reprehend us, we have confidence towards God:
Preaiubiților, dacă inima noastră nu ne condamnă, avem cutezanță înaintea lui Dumnezeu.
22 And whatsoever we shall ask, we shall receive of him: because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.
Și orice cerem, primim de la el, pentru că ținem poruncile lui și practicăm cele plăcute înaintea lui.
23 And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ: and love one another, as he hath given commandment unto us.
Și aceasta este porunca lui: Să credem în numele Fiului său Isus Cristos și să ne iubim unii pe alții, așa cum ne-a dat poruncă.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments, abideth in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Și cel ce ține poruncile lui rămâne în el, și el în el. Și prin aceasta știm că el rămâne în noi, prin Duhul pe care el ni l-a dat.
