1 John 2
1 My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. But if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the just:
Mes petits enfants, je vous écris ces choses, afin que vous ne péchiez point; et si quelqu'un a péché, nous avons pour défenseur auprès du Père Jésus-Christ le juste;
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
et il est lui-même une victime expiatoire pour nos péchés, non pas pour les nôtres seuls, mais encore pour le monde entier.
3 And by this we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments.
Et voici à quoi nous connaissons que nous L'avons connu: c'est si nous observons Ses commandements;
4 He who saith that he knoweth him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
celui qui dit: « Je L'ai connu, » et qui n'observe pas Ses commandements, est un menteur, et la vérité n'est point en lui,
5 But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected; and by this we know that we are in him.
tandis que celui qui observe Sa parole, l'amour de Dieu est véritablement accompli en lui; c'est ainsi que nous connaissons que nous sommes en Lui.
6 He that saith he abideth in him, ought himself also to walk, even as he walked.
Celui qui dit demeurer en Lui doit, comme celui-là s'est conduit, se conduire aussi lui-même.
7 Dearly beloved, I write not a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you have heard.
Bien-aimés, ce n'est point un commandement nouveau que je vous adresse, mais un commandement ancien que vous aviez dès le commencement; le commandement ancien, c'est la parole que vous avez entendue;
8 Again a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true both in him and in you; because the darkness is passed, and the true light now shineth.
pourtant c'est un commandement nouveau que je vous adresse, ce qui est vrai, soit quant à lui, soit quant à vous; car les ténèbres passent et la lumière véritable apparaît déjà;
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
celui qui dit être dans la lumière et qui hait son frère continue à être dans les ténèbres;
10 He that loveth his brother, abideth in the light, and there is no scandal in him.
celui qui aime son frère, demeure dans la lumière, et il n'y a point de cause de chute en lui,
11 But he that hateth his brother, is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth; because the darkness hath blinded his eyes.
tandis que celui qui hait son frère est dans les ténèbres, et il marche dans les ténèbres, et il ne sait où il va, parce que les ténèbres ont aveuglé ses yeux.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
Je vous écris, petits enfants, parce que vos péchés vous ont été pardonnés à cause de son nom;
13 I write unto you, fathers, because you have known him, who is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one.
je vous écris, pères, parce que vous avez connu Celui qui est dès le commencement; je vous écris, jeunes gens, parce que vous avez vaincu le malin. Je vous ai écrit, petits enfants, parce que vous avez connu le Père;
14 I write unto you, babes, because you have known the Father. I write unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.
je vous ai écrit, pères, parce que vous avez connu ce qui est dès le commencement; je vous ai écrit, jeunes gens, parce que vous êtes forts, et que la parole demeure en vous, et que vous avez vaincu le malin.
15 Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him.
N'aimez point le monde, ni les choses qui sont dans le monde; si quelqu'un aime le monde, l'amour du Père n'est point en lui,
16 For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world.
parce que tout ce qui est dans le monde, la convoitise de la chair, et la convoitise des yeux, et la gloriole de la vie, ne relève point du Père, mais relève du monde;
17 And the world passeth away, and the concupiscence thereof: but he that doth the will of God, abideth for ever. (aiōn g165)
et le monde passe, ainsi que sa convoitise; tandis que celui qui fait la volonté de Dieu demeure pour l'éternité. (aiōn g165)
18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour.
Petits enfants, voici l'heure dernière; et comme vous avez appris qu'un antechrist doit venir, maintenant aussi plusieurs antechrists se sont produits; c'est à quoi nous connaissons que voici l'heure dernière.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us; but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us.
Ils sont sortis du milieu de nous, mais ils n'étaient pas des nôtres, car s'ils eussent été des nôtres ils seraient demeurés avec nous; mais c'est afin de rendre manifeste que tous ne sont pas des nôtres;
20 But you have the unction from the Holy One, and know all things.
et quant à vous, vous possédez une onction qui vient de Celui qui est saint; vous le savez tous.
21 I have not written to you as to them that know not the truth, but as to them that know it: and that no lie is of the truth.
Je ne vous ai pas écrit parce que vous ne connaissez point la vérité, mais parce que vous la connaissez, et que vous savez qu'aucun mensonge ne provient de la vérité.
22 Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father, and the Son.
Qui est le menteur, sinon celui qui nie que Jésus soit le Christ? Celui-là est l'antechrist; il nie le Père et le Fils;
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father. He that confesseth the Son, hath the Father also.
quiconque nie le Fils ne possède pas non plus le Père; celui qui confesse le Fils possède aussi le Père.
24 As for you, let that which you have heard from the beginning, abide in you. If that abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning, you also shall abide in the Son, and in the Father.
Pour vous, que ce que vous avez ouï dès le commencement demeure en vous! Si ce que vous avez ouï dès le commencement demeure en vous, vous aussi vous demeurerez dans le Fils et dans le Père;
et la promesse que lui-même vous a faite, c'est la vie éternelle. (aiōnios g166)
26 These things have I written to you, concerning them that seduce you.
Je vous ai écrit ces choses relativement à ceux qui vous. égarent;
27 And as for you, let the unction, which you have received from him, abide in you. And you have no need that any man teach you; but as his unction teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie. And as it hath taught you, abide in him.
et quant à vous, la grâce que vous avez reçue de lui demeure en vous, et vous n'avez pas besoin que personne vous instruise, mais la même onction vous instruit sur toutes choses, et elle est véritable et ce n'est pas un mensonge, et selon qu'elle vous a instruits, vous demeurez en lui.
28 And now, little children, abide in him, that when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be confounded by him at his coming.
Et maintenant, petits enfants, demeurez en lui, afin que, lorsqu'il aura été manifesté, nous ayons une ferme assurance, et que nous n'ayons pas à nous éloigner de lui en rougissant, lors de son avènement.
29 If you know, that he is just, know ye, that every one also, who doth justice, is born of him.
Si vous savez qu'il est juste, reconnaissez que quiconque pratique la justice est né de Lui.
