< 1 Chronicles 22 >
1 Then David said: This is the house of God, and this is the altar for the holocaust of Israel.
Pea naʻe toki pehē ʻe Tevita, “Ko eni ʻae fale ʻo Sihova ko e ʻOtua, pea ko e feilaulauʻanga eni ʻoe ngaahi feilaulau tutu maʻa ʻIsileli.”
2 And he commanded to gather together all the proselytes of the land of Israel, and out of them he appointed stonecutters to hew stones and polish them, to build the house of God.
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Tevita ke tānaki fakataha mai ʻae kakai muli kotoa pē ʻi he fonua ʻo ʻIsileli; pea naʻa ne tuku ʻae kau tangata tā maka ke tā ʻae ngaahi maka tātā ke langa ʻaki ʻae fale ʻoe ʻOtua.
3 And David prepared in abundance iron for the nails of the gates, and for the closures and joinings: and of brass an immense weight.
Pea naʻe tokonaki ʻe Tevita ʻae ukamea ʻo lahi ʻaupito koeʻuhi ko e faʻo ki he ngaahi matapā ʻoe ngaahi hūʻanga, pea mo hono ngaahi hokoʻanga; pea mo e palasa lahi ʻaupito taʻefaʻafakamamafa;
4 And the cedar trees were without number, which the Sidonians, and Tyrians brought to David.
Pea mo e ngaahi ʻakau sita lahi ʻaupito: he naʻe ʻomi ʻekinautolu ʻo Saitoni mo Taia ʻae ʻakau sita lahi ʻaupito kia Tevita.
5 And David said: Solomon my son is very young and tender, and the house which I would have to be built to the Lord, must be such as to be renowned in all countries: therefore I will prepare him necessaries. And therefore before his death he prepared all the charges.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita, “ʻOku kei talavou mo vaivai ʻa hoku foha ko Solomone, pea ʻoku totonu ke lelei lahi ʻaupito ʻae fale ʻe langa kia Sihova, ke ongoongolelei ia mo nāunauʻia ʻi he ngaahi fonua kotoa pē: ko ia te u tokonaki eni ki ai.” Pea ko ia naʻe tokonaki ki ai ʻe Tevita ʻo lahi ʻaupito ʻi he teʻeki ai ke ne pekia.
6 And he called for Solomon his son: and commanded him to build a house to the Lord the God of Israel.
Pea naʻa ne toki ui kia Solomone ko hono foha, mo ne tuku tala kiate ia ke langa ha fale kia Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli.
7 And David said to Solomon: My son, it was my desire to have built a house to the name of the Lord my God.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kia Solomone, ʻE hoku foha, ko au eni, pea naʻe ʻi hoku loto ia ke u langa ha fale ki he huafa ʻo Sihova ko hoku ʻOtua;
8 But the word of the Lord came to me, saying: Thou hast shed much blood, and fought many battles, so thou canst not build a house to my name, after shedding so much blood before me:
Ka naʻe hoko mai ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kiate au, ʻo pehē, “Kuo lahi ʻae toto kuo ke lilingi, pea kuo ke fai ʻae ngaahi tau lahi: ʻe ʻikai te ke langa ʻe koe ha fale ki hoku huafa, koeʻuhi kuo ke lilingi ʻae toto lahi ʻaupito ki he kelekele ʻi hoku ʻao.
9 The son, that shall be born to thee, shall be a most quiet man: for I will make him rest from all his enemies round about: and therefore he shall be called Peaceable: and I will give peace and quietness to Israel all his days.
‘Vakai, ʻe fanauʻi kiate koe ha foha, ʻaia ʻe hoko ko e tangata ʻoe melino; pea te u tuku kiate ia ʻae mālōlō mei hono ngaahi fili kotoa pē ʻoku nofo takatakai hake; koeʻuhi ʻe fakahingoa ia ko Solomone, pea te u foaki ʻae melino mo e fiemālie ki ʻIsileli ʻi hono ngaahi ʻaho ʻoʻona.
10 He shall build a house to my name, and he shall be a son to me, and I will be a father to him: and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
ʻE langa ʻe ia ha fale ki hoku huafa; pea ʻe hoko ia ko hoku foha, pea ko ʻene tamai au; pea te u fokotuʻu ʻae nofoʻa fakatuʻi ʻo hono puleʻanga ʻi ʻIsileli ke taʻengata.’
11 Now then, my son, the Lord be with thee, and do thou prosper, and build the house to the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken of thee.
Ko ia, ʻe hoku foha, ʻofa ke ʻiate koe ʻa Sihova; pea ke monūʻia koe, mo ke langa ʻae fale ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ʻo hangē ko ʻene folofola kiate koe.
12 The Lord also give thee wisdom and understanding, that thou mayest be able to rule Israel, and to keep the law of the Lord thy God.
Kae kehe pe ke foaki ʻe Sihova kiate koe ʻae poto mo e ʻilo lelei, mo ne fekauʻi koe koeʻuhi ko ʻIsileli, koeʻuhi ke ke fai ki he fono ʻa Sihova ko ho ʻOtua.
13 For then thou shalt be able to prosper, if thou keep the commandments, and judgments, which the Lord commanded Moses to teach Israel: take courage and act manfully, fear not, nor be dismayed.
Te ke toki monūʻia, ʻo kapau te ke tokanga ke fai ʻae ngaahi fono mo e ngaahi fakamaau ʻaia naʻe fekauʻi ai ʻa Mōsese koeʻuhi ko ʻIsileli: ke ke mālohi koe, mo ke lototoʻa; ʻoua naʻa ke manavahē pe te ke lilika.
14 Behold I in my poverty have prepared the charges of the house of the Lord, of gold a hundred thousand talents, and of silver a million of talents: but of brass, and of iron there is no weight, for the abundance surpasseth all account: timber also and stones I have prepared for all the charges.
15 Thou hast also workmen in abundance, hewers of stones, and masons, and carpenters, and of all trades the most skillful in their work,
Pea ʻoku ʻiate koe foki ʻae kau tufunga tokolahi ʻaupito, ko e kau tufunga tā maka mo tā ʻakau, mo e kau tangata nimameaʻa ki he ngāue kehekehe kotoa pē.
16 In gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, whereof there is no number. Arise then, and be doing, and the Lord will be with thee.
ʻOku ʻikai faʻa lau ʻae koula, mo e siliva, pea mo e palasa, mo e ukamea. Ko ia, ke ke tuʻu hake koe mo ke ngāue, pea ke ʻiate koe ʻa Sihova.”
17 David also charged all the princes of Israel, to help Solomon his son,
Naʻe fekau foki ʻe Tevita ki he houʻeiki kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli ke tokoni kia Solomone ko hono foha, [ʻo pehē],
18 Saying: You see, that the Lord your God is with you, and hath given you rest round about, and hath delivered all your enemies into your hands, and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people.
“ʻIkai ʻoku kau mo kimoutolu ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua? Pea ʻikai kuo ne foaki kiate kimoutolu ʻae fiemālie mei he potu takatakai kotoa pē? He kuo ne tuku mai ki hoku nima ʻae kakai ʻoe fonua; pea kuo ikuna ʻae fonua ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova, pea ʻi he ʻao ʻo hono kakai.
19 Give therefore your hearts and your souls, to seek the Lord your God: and arise, and build a sanctuary to the Lord God, that the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the vessels consecrated to the Lord, may be brought into the house, which is built to the name of the Lord.
Pea ko eni mou tukupau homou loto mo homou laumālie ke kumi kia Sihova ko homou ʻOtua; ko ia, mou tutuʻu hake mo langa ʻekimoutolu ʻae faletapu kia Sihova ko e ʻOtua, koeʻuhi ke ʻomi ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova, mo e ngaahi nāunau tapu ʻoe ʻOtua ki he fale ʻaia ʻe langa ki he huafa ʻo Sihova.”
