And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers unto David, and timber of cedars, with masons and artificers, to build for him a house.
2 And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, and that his kingdom was exalted over his people Israel.
So David perceived, that Yahweh, had confirmed him, as king over Israel, —that his kingship was exalted, for the sake of his people Israel.
3 And David took other wives in Jerusalem: and he beget sons, and daughters.
And David took more wives, in Jerusalem, —and David begat more sons and daughters.
4 Now these are the names of them that were born to him in Jerusalem: Samua, and Sobad, Nathan, and Solomon,

and Ibhar and Elishua, and Elpelet;

8 And the Philistines hearing that David was anointed king over all Israel, went all up to seek him: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
And, when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek to secure David, —and David, hearing, went out against them.
9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the vale of Raphaim.
Now, the Philistines, had come and spread themselves out, in the vale of Rephaim.
10 And David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I go up against the Philistines, and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him: Go up, and I will deliver them into thy hand.
Then David asked of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Yahweh said to him, Go up, and I will deliver them into thy hand.
11 And when they were come to Baalpharasim, David defeated them there, and he said: God hath divided my enemies by my hand, as waters are divided: and therefore the name of that place was called Baalpharasim.
So they came up in Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and David said, God hath broken forth against mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking forth of waters, —For this cause, called they the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
12 And they left there their gods, and David commanded that they should be burnt.
And they left their gods there, —and David gave the word, and they were burned up in fire.
13 Another time also the Philistines made an irruption, and spread themselves abroad in the valley.
And the Philistines yet again spread themselves out in the vale.
14 And David consulted God again, and God said to him: Go not up after them, turn away from them, and come upon them over against the pear trees.
So David, asked again, of God, and God said to him, Thou shalt not go up after them, —get thee round, away from them, so shalt thou come in upon them, over against the mulberry-trees;
15 And when thou shalt hear the sound of one going in the tops of the pear trees, then shalt thou go out to battle. For God is gone out before thee to strike the army of the Philistines.
and it shall be, when thou hearest a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, then, shalt thou go forth into the battle, —for God will have gone forth before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
16 And David did as God had commanded him, and defeated the army of the Philistines, slaying them from Gabaon to Gazera.
So David did as God commanded him, —and they smote the host of the Philistines, from Gibeon even unto Gezer.
17 And the name of David became famous in all countries, and the Lord made all nations fear him.
And the name of David went forth, throughout all the lands, —and, Yahweh, put the dread of him upon all the nations.
