Ruth 4
1 And Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there. And behold, he that had the right of redemption, of whom Boaz had spoken, came by. And he said, Thou, such a one, turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside and sat down.
Booz subió a la puerta y se sentó allí. He aquí que el pariente cercano del que hablaba Booz pasaba por allí. Booz le dijo: “¡Ven aquí, amigo, y siéntate!”. Se acercó y se sentó.
2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit down here. And they sat down.
Booz tomó a diez hombres de los ancianos de la ciudad y les dijo: “Siéntate aquí”, y se sentaron.
3 And he said to him that had the right of redemption: Naomi, who is come back out of the country of Moab, sells the allotment that was our brother Elimelech's.
Le dijo al pariente cercano: “Noemí, que ha vuelto del país de Moab, está vendiendo la parcela que era de nuestro hermano Elimelec.
4 And I thought I would apprise thee of it and say, Buy [it] in the presence of the inhabitants, and in the presence of the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem [it], redeem; but if thou wilt not redeem, tell me, that I may know; for there is none to redeem besides thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem [it].
Pensé que debía decírtelo, diciendo: ‘Cómpralo ante los que están aquí sentados y ante los ancianos de mi pueblo’. Si quieres redimirla, redímela; pero si no quieres redimirla, dímelo para que lo sepa. Porque no hay nadie que la redima aparte de ti; y yo estoy detrás de ti”. Dijo: “Lo redimiré”.
5 And Boaz said, On the day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy [it] also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
Entonces Booz dijo: “El día que compres el campo de la mano de Noemí, deberás comprárselo también a Rut la moabita, la mujer del muerto, para levantar el nombre del muerto sobre su herencia.”
6 And he that had the right of redemption said, I cannot redeem [it] for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance. Redeem thou for thyself what I should redeem, for I cannot redeem [it].
El pariente cercano dijo: “No puedo redimirlo por mí mismo, para no poner en peligro mi propia herencia. Toma para ti mi derecho de redención, pues no puedo redimirlo”.
7 Now this [was the custom] in former time in Israel concerning redemption and concerning exchange, to confirm the whole matter: a man drew off his sandal, and gave it to his neighbour, and this was the [mode of] attestation in Israel.
Esta era la costumbre de antaño en Israel en cuanto al rescate y al intercambio, para confirmar todas las cosas: un hombre se quitaba la sandalia y se la daba a su vecino; y esta era la manera de formalizar las transacciones en Israel.
8 And he that had the right of redemption said to Boaz, Buy for thyself; and he drew off his sandal.
Entonces el pariente cercano dijo a Booz: “Cómpralo para ti”, y se quitó la sandalia.
9 And Boaz said to the elders and all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi;
Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: “Vosotros sois testigos hoy de que he comprado todo lo que era de Elimelec, y todo lo que era de Quelión y de Mahlón, de la mano de Noemí.
10 moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
Además, a Rut la moabita, esposa de Mahlón, la he comprado para que sea mi esposa, para levantar el nombre del muerto en su herencia, para que el nombre del muerto no sea cortado de entre sus hermanos y de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros sois hoy testigos”.
11 And all the people that were in the gate and the elders said, [We are] witnesses. Jehovah make the woman that cometh into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel; and acquire power in Ephratah, and make thyself a name in Bethlehem;
Todo el pueblo que estaba en la puerta, y los ancianos, dijeron: “Somos testigos. Que el Señor haga que la mujer que ha entrado en tu casa sea como Raquel y como Lea, que ambas edificaron la casa de Israel; y que te trate dignamente en Efrata, y que seas famosa en Belén.
12 and let thy house become like the house of Pherez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the seed which Jehovah shall give thee of this young woman.
Que tu casa sea como la casa de Fares, que Tamar dio a Judá, de la descendencia que Yahvé te dará por esta joven.”
13 And Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and he went in unto her, and Jehovah gave her conception, and she bore a son.
Booz tomó a Rut y ella se convirtió en su esposa; se acercó a ella, y el Señor le permitió concebir, y dio a luz un hijo.
14 And the women said to Naomi, Blessed be Jehovah who hath not left thee this day without one that has the right of redemption, and may his name be famous in Israel!
Las mujeres dijeron a Noemí: “Bendito sea Yahvé, que no te ha dejado hoy sin pariente cercano. Que su nombre sea famoso en Israel.
15 And he shall be to thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age; for thy daughter-in-law who loves thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, has borne him.
Él será para ti un restaurador de la vida y te sostendrá en tu vejez; porque tu nuera, que te ama, que es mejor para ti que siete hijos, lo ha dado a luz.”
16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse to it.
Noemí tomó al niño, lo puso en su seno y lo amamantó.
17 And the women [her] neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi. And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
Las mujeres, sus vecinas, le pusieron un nombre, diciendo: “Le ha nacido un hijo a Noemí”. Le pusieron el nombre de Obed. Es el padre de Isaí, el padre de David.
18 Now these are the generations of Pherez. Pherez begot Hezron,
Esta es la historia de las generaciones de Fares: Fares fue padre de Esrom,
19 and Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminadab,
y Esrom fue padre de Rama, y Rama fue padre de Aminadab,
20 and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,
y Aminadab fue padre de Nashón, y Nashón fue padre de Salmón,
21 and Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed,
y Salmón fue padre de Booz, y Booz fue padre de Obed,
22 and Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.
y Obed fue padre de Isaí, y Isaí fue padre de David.
