Ruth 2
1 And Naomi had a relation of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.
நகோமிக்கு அவளுடைய கணவனின் மனிதரில் ஒரு உறவினன் இருந்தான். எலிமெலேக்கின் வம்சத்தைச் சேர்ந்த செல்வந்தனான அந்த மனிதனின் பெயர் போவாஸ்.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, Let me, I pray, go to the field and glean among the ears of corn after [him] in whose sight I shall find favour. And she said to her, Go, my daughter.
மோவாபிய பெண்ணான ரூத் நகோமியிடம், “நான் வயல்வெளிக்குப் போய் யாருடைய கண்களிலாவது எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைத்தால், அவர்களைப் பின்சென்று வயலில் விடப்படும் கதிர்களை பொறுக்கிச் சேர்த்து வரவிடுங்கள்” என்று கேட்டாள். அதற்கு நகோமி, “என் மகளே, போய்வா” என விடையளித்தாள்.
3 And she went; and she came and gleaned in the fields after the reapers; and she chanced to light on an allotment of Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
எனவே ரூத் அங்கிருந்துபோய் வயலில் அறுவடை செய்கிறவர்களின் பின்னேசென்று சிந்துகிற கதிர்களைப் பொறுக்கிச் சேர்த்தாள். அவள் கதிர் பொறுக்கிக்கொண்டிருந்த வயல், எலிமெலேக்கின் வம்சத்தானான போவாஸுக்குச் சொந்தமானது.
4 And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem; and he said to the reapers, Jehovah be with you! And they said to him, Jehovah bless thee!
அப்பொழுது போவாஸ் பெத்லெகேமிலிருந்து வயலுக்கு வந்துசேர்ந்தான். அவன் அறுவடை செய்கிறவர்களிடம், “யெகோவா உங்களோடிருப்பாராக!” என வாழ்த்தினான். அவர்களும், “யெகோவா உம்மை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக” என வாழ்த்தினார்கள்.
5 And Boaz said to his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose maiden is this?
பின் போவாஸ் அறுவடை செய்கிறவர்களைக் கண்காணிப்பவனிடம், “அந்த இளம்பெண் யாரைச் சேர்ந்தவள்?” என கேட்டான்.
6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish maiden who came back with Naomi out of the fields of Moab;
அந்த கண்காணி போவஸிடம், “இவள் நகோமியுடன் மோவாப் நாட்டிலிருந்து வந்த மோவாபியப் பெண்;
7 and she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather among the sheaves after the reapers. And she came, and has continued from the morning until now: her sitting in the house has been little as yet.
அவள் என்னிடம், ‘அறுவடை செய்கிறவர்களின் பின்னால் அரிக்கட்டுகளில் இருந்து சிந்துகிற கதிர்களைப் பொறுக்க தயவுசெய்து அனுமதியும்’ என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டாள். காலை தொடங்கி இப்பொழுதுவரை வயலில் தொடர்ந்து வேலைசெய்தாள்; இப்பொழுதுதான் சிறிது நேரம் இளைப்பாற குடிசைக்குள் வந்தாள்” என்றான்.
8 And Boaz said to Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from here, but keep here with my maidens.
அப்பொழுது போவாஸ் ரூத்திடம், “என் மகளே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடு. கதிர் பொறுக்குவதற்கு நீ வேறு வயலுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம். என் பணிப்பெண்களுடன் இங்கேயே இரு.
9 Let thine eyes be on the field which is being reaped, and go thou after them; have I not charged the young men not to touch thee? And when thou art athirst, go to the vessels and drink of what the young men draw.
மனிதர் அறுவடை செய்கிற வயலை நீ கவனித்து, பணிப்பெண்களுடனே பின்தொடர்ந்து நீயும் போ; உன்னை யாரும் தொடக்கூடாது என்று என் வேலைக்காரருக்குச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன். உனக்குத் தாகம் உண்டானால் என் வேலைக்காரர் நிரப்பியிருக்கும் குடங்களிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் எடுத்துக் குடி” என்றான்.
10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found favour in thine eyes, that thou shouldest regard me, seeing I am a foreigner?
அதைக்கேட்ட அவள் பணிந்து விழுந்து வணங்கி, “நான் அந்நிய நாட்டவளாயிருந்தும் எனக்கு இவ்வளவு தயவு காட்டுகிறீர்களே!” என்று வியப்புடன் சொன்னாள்.
11 And Boaz answered and said to her, It has fully been shewn me, all that thou hast done to thy mother-in-law since the death of thy husband; and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come to a people that thou hast not known heretofore.
அதற்கு போவாஸ், “உன் கணவன் இறந்தபின் நீ உன் மாமியார் நகோமிக்குச் செய்ததெல்லாவற்றையும் கேள்விப்பட்டேன். உன் தாய் தகப்பனையும், நீ பிறந்த உன் நாட்டையும் விட்டு, முன் பின் அறியாத மக்கள் மத்தியில் வசிக்க வந்ததையும் நான் கேள்விப்பட்டேன்.
12 Jehovah recompense thy work, and let thy reward be full from Jehovah the God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to take refuge.
நீ செய்த எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் ஏற்ற பலனை யெகோவா உனக்குக் கொடுப்பாராக. இஸ்ரயேலின் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவின் சிறகுகளில் அடைக்கலம் புகும்படி வந்த உனக்கு, அவரிடமிருந்து நிறைவான வெகுமதி கிடைப்பதாக” என்றான்.
13 And she said, Let me find favour in thine eyes, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken kindly to thy handmaid, though I am not like one of thy handmaidens.
அப்பொழுது அவள், “ஐயா! உங்களுடைய கண்களில் தொடர்ந்து எனக்குத் தயை கிடைக்கவேண்டும். நான் உங்களுடைய பணிப்பெண்களுக்குக்கூட சமனானவள் அல்ல. அப்படியிருந்தும் நீங்கள் எனக்கு கருணைகாட்டி, உங்கள் அடியாளாகிய என்னுடன் தயவாய்ப் பேசினீர்களே!” என்றாள்.
14 And Boaz said to her at mealtime, Come hither and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers; and he reached her parched corn, and she ate and was sufficed, and reserved [some].
சாப்பாட்டு வேளையில் போவாஸ் அவளிடம், “நீ இங்கே வா! இந்த அப்பத்தில் எடுத்துச் சாப்பிடு. இந்தத் திராட்சைப் பழச்சாறில் அப்பத்தைத் தொட்டுக்கொள்” என்றான். அறுவடை செய்கிறவர்களுடன் உட்கார்ந்தபோது, அவன் அவளுக்கு வறுத்த கோதுமையைக் கொடுத்தான்; அவள் திருப்தியாக சாப்பிட்டபின் அதில் கொஞ்சம் அவளிடத்தில் மீதியிருந்தது.
15 And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and ye shall not reproach her.
அவள் மறுபடியும் கதிர் பொறுக்க எழுந்தபோது, போவாஸ் தன் பணியாட்களிடம், “அவள் அரிக்கட்டுகளுக்கிடையில் பொறுக்கினாலும் அவளைத் தடுக்கவேண்டாம்.
16 And ye shall also sometimes draw out for her [some ears] out of the handfuls, and leave them that she may glean, and rebuke her not.
அவள் பொறுக்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி கட்டுகளிலிலிருந்து சில கதிர்களை வேண்டுமென்றே சிந்தவிடுங்கள்; அவளை அதட்டாதிருங்கள்” என்று அவர்களுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டான்.
17 And she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out what she had gleaned; and it was about an ephah of barley.
இவ்வாறு மாலைவரை வயலில் ரூத் கதிர் பொறுக்கினாள். அவள் பொறுக்கிய கதிர்களைத் தட்டி அடித்துச் சேர்த்தபோது ஏறக்குறைய ஒரு எப்பா வாற்கோதுமை இருந்தது.
18 And she took [it] up, and came into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned; and she brought forth and gave to her that which she had reserved after she was sufficed.
ரூத் அதை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு பட்டணத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போனதும் அவள் சேர்த்த தானியம் அதிகமாயிருப்பதை அவளுடைய மாமியார் கண்டாள். அத்துடன் ரூத் தான் திருப்தியாகச் சாப்பிட்டு, மீந்திருந்ததில் கொண்டுவந்ததைத் தன் மாமியிடம் கொடுத்தாள்.
19 And her mother-in-law said to her, Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? Blessed be he that did regard thee! And she told her mother-in-law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to-day is Boaz.
அதைக்கண்ட ரூத்தின் மாமியார் அவளிடம், “எங்கே நீ இன்று கதிர் பொறுக்கினாய்? எங்கே வேலைசெய்தாய்? உன்னில் அக்கறைகாட்டிய அந்த மனிதன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவானாக” என்றாள். அப்பொழுது ரூத் தன் மாமியாரிடம், தான் யாருடைய வயலில் வேலைசெய்தேன் என்பதைப் பற்றிச் சொன்னாள். “இன்று நான் வேலைசெய்த வயலின் உரிமையாளனின் பெயர் போவாஸ்” என்றும் சொன்னாள்.
20 And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, Blessed be he of Jehovah, who has not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead! And Naomi said to her, The man is near of kin to us, one of those who have the right of our redemption.
நகோமி, “யெகோவா அவனை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக!” என்று சொல்லி தன் மருமகளிடம், “அவர் உயிரோடிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கும், இறந்தவர்களுக்கும் தயைகாட்டுவதை இன்னும் நிறுத்தவில்லை” என்றாள். மேலும் நகோமி, “அந்த மனிதன் எங்கள் நெருங்கிய உறவினன்; அவன் நம்மை மீட்கும் உரிமையுள்ள உறவினரில் ஒருவன்” என்றாள்.
21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said to me also, Thou shalt keep with my young men until they have ended all my harvest.
அதற்கு மோவாபிய பெண்ணான ரூத், “அவர் என்னிடம், என்னுடைய வேலையாட்கள் தானியங்களை அறுவடை செய்து முடிக்கும்வரை நீ அவர்களுடன் தங்கியிரு எனவும் சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்” என கூறினாள்.
22 And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.
நகோமி தன் மருமகளான ரூத்திடம், “என் மகளே, நீ அவருடைய பணிப்பெண்களுடன் போவது உனக்கு நல்லது. ஏனெனில் வேறொருவருடைய வயல்களில் உனக்குத் தீங்கு நேரிடலாம்” என்றாள்.
23 So she kept with the maidens of Boaz to glean, until the end of the barley-harvest and of the wheat-harvest. And she dwelt with her mother-in-law.
எனவே ரூத், வாற்கோதுமை அறுவடை காலமும், கோதுமை அறுவடை காலமும் முடியும்வரை போவாஸின் பணிப்பெண்களுடனேயே தங்கினாள். அவள் தன் மாமியாருடனேயே வசித்தாள்.
