Ruth 2
1 And Naomi had a relation of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.
Et Noomi avait du côté de son mari un parent, grand homme de bien, de la famille d'Elimélech, et il se nommait Boaz.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, Let me, I pray, go to the field and glean among the ears of corn after [him] in whose sight I shall find favour. And she said to her, Go, my daughter.
Et Ruth, la Moabite, dit à Noomi: Laisse-moi donc aller au champ glaner des épis à la suite de celui aux yeux de qui je trouverai grâce!
3 And she went; and she came and gleaned in the fields after the reapers; and she chanced to light on an allotment of Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
Et elle lui dit: Va, ma fille. Et elle alla, et elle vint et glana dans le champ à la suite des moissonneurs. Et fortuitement il se trouva que c'était une pièce de terre de Boaz qui était de la famille d'Elimélech.
4 And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem; and he said to the reapers, Jehovah be with you! And they said to him, Jehovah bless thee!
Et voilà que Boaz vint de Bethléhem; et il dit aux moissonneurs: Que l'Éternel soit avec vous! Et ils lui dirent: Que l'Éternel te bénisse!
5 And Boaz said to his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose maiden is this?
Et Boaz dit à son valet préposé sur les moissonneurs: A qui est cette jeune personne?
6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish maiden who came back with Naomi out of the fields of Moab;
Et le valet préposé sur les moissonneurs répondit et dit: C'est une jeune Moabite revenue de Moabie avec Noomi;
7 and she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather among the sheaves after the reapers. And she came, and has continued from the morning until now: her sitting in the house has been little as yet.
et elle m'a dit: Permets-moi de glaner et de ramasser des épis près des javelles à la suite des moissonneurs! et elle est venue et a été assidue depuis le matin jusqu'à présent, sauf un court moment de repos qu'elle a pris sous le couvert.
8 And Boaz said to Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from here, but keep here with my maidens.
Et Boaz dit à Ruth: Entends-tu, ma fille! Ne va pas glaner dans un autre champ, et ne t'en va pas d'ici et joins-toi à mes servantes;
9 Let thine eyes be on the field which is being reaped, and go thou after them; have I not charged the young men not to touch thee? And when thou art athirst, go to the vessels and drink of what the young men draw.
aie les yeux sur le champ qu'on moissonne, et suis-les. Voici, j'ai défendu aux valets de toucher à toi. Et, si tu as soif, va aux cruches et bois de ce que puiseront les valets.
10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found favour in thine eyes, that thou shouldest regard me, seeing I am a foreigner?
Alors Ruth tombant à ses pieds et s'inclinant jusqu'à terre lui dit: Comment ai-je trouvé grâce à tes yeux pour que tu me traites comme une connaissance, et je suis une étrangère?
11 And Boaz answered and said to her, It has fully been shewn me, all that thou hast done to thy mother-in-law since the death of thy husband; and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come to a people that thou hast not known heretofore.
Et Boaz répondit et lui dit: On m'a raconté tout ce que tu as fait pour ta belle-mère après la mort de ton mari, et comment tu as quitté ton père et ta mère et le pays de ta naissance pour venir chez un peuple que tu ne connaissais ni d'hier, ni d'avant-hier.
12 Jehovah recompense thy work, and let thy reward be full from Jehovah the God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to take refuge.
Que l'Éternel te rende ce que tu as fait et qu'une parfaite récompense te soit accordée par l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, sous les ailes de qui tu es venue te réfugier!
13 And she said, Let me find favour in thine eyes, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken kindly to thy handmaid, though I am not like one of thy handmaidens.
Et elle dit: Puissé-je trouver grâce à tes yeux, mon Seigneur! Car tu m'as consolée et tu as parlé au cœur de ta servante, et pourtant je ne suis pas comme l'une de tes servantes.
14 And Boaz said to her at mealtime, Come hither and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers; and he reached her parched corn, and she ate and was sufficed, and reserved [some].
Et au moment du repas Boaz lui dit: Approche et mange de ce pain, et trempe ta mouillette dans le vinaigre. Alors elle s'assit à côté des moissonneurs, et il lui présenta du grain rôti et elle mangea et se rassasia et en garda des restes.
15 And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and ye shall not reproach her.
Et elle se leva pour glaner. Alors Boaz donna cet ordre à ses valets: Elle glanera même entre les javelles, et vous ne lui ferez point affront.
16 And ye shall also sometimes draw out for her [some ears] out of the handfuls, and leave them that she may glean, and rebuke her not.
Et pour elle des faisceaux vous extrairez aussi quelque chose que vous négligerez afin qu'elle le recueille, et vous ne la gronderez point.
17 And she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out what she had gleaned; and it was about an ephah of barley.
Et elle glana dans le champ jusqu'au soir, et elle égrena sa glane, et il y eut environ un épha d'orge.
18 And she took [it] up, and came into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned; and she brought forth and gave to her that which she had reserved after she was sufficed.
Et elle l'emporta et vint à la ville, et sa belle-mère vit ce qu'elle avait glané; et Ruth ayant sorti ce qu'elle avait réservé de son repas, le lui donna.
19 And her mother-in-law said to her, Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? Blessed be he that did regard thee! And she told her mother-in-law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to-day is Boaz.
Alors sa belle-mère lui dit: Où as-tu glané aujourd'hui? D'où vient ce fruit de ton travail? béni soit celui qui a pris intérêt à toi! Et elle indiqua à sa belle-mère celui chez qui elle avait travaillé, et dit: Le nom de l'homme chez qui j'ai travaillé aujourd'hui est Boaz.
20 And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, Blessed be he of Jehovah, who has not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead! And Naomi said to her, The man is near of kin to us, one of those who have the right of our redemption.
Alors Noomi dit à sa bru: Béni soit-il par l'Éternel qui ne s'est point désisté de son amour envers les vivants et envers les décédés! Et Noomi lui dit: Cet homme est notre parent, un de nos proches, ayant envers nous le droit et le devoir lignager.
21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said to me also, Thou shalt keep with my young men until they have ended all my harvest.
Et Ruth, la Moabite, dit: Il m'a dit encore: Joins-toi à mes gens jusqu'à ce qu'ils aient achevé toute ma moisson.
22 And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.
Et Noomi dit à Ruth, sa bru: Il est bon, ma fille, que pour sortir tu accompagnes ses servantes, afin qu'on ne te rencontre pas dans un autre champ.
23 So she kept with the maidens of Boaz to glean, until the end of the barley-harvest and of the wheat-harvest. And she dwelt with her mother-in-law.
Elle se joignit donc aux servantes de Boaz pour glaner jusqu'à la fin de la moisson des orges et de celle du froment. Et elle habitait chez sa belle-mère.
