< Romans 12 >
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your intelligent service.
he bhrātara īśvarasya kṛpayāhaṁ yuṣmān vinaye yūyaṁ svaṁ svaṁ śarīraṁ sajīvaṁ pavitraṁ grāhyaṁ balim īśvaramuddiśya samutsṛjata, eṣā sevā yuṣmākaṁ yogyā|
2 And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of [your] mind, that ye may prove what [is] the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (aiōn )
aparaṁ yūyaṁ sāṁsārikā iva mācarata, kintu svaṁ svaṁ svabhāvaṁ parāvartya nūtanācāriṇo bhavata, tata īśvarasya nideśaḥ kīdṛg uttamo grahaṇīyaḥ sampūrṇaśceti yuṣmābhiranubhāviṣyate| (aiōn )
3 For I say, through the grace which has been given to me, to every one that is among you, not to have high thoughts above what he should think; but to think so as to be wise, as God has dealt to each a measure of faith.
kaścidapi jano yogyatvādadhikaṁ svaṁ na manyatāṁ kintu īśvaro yasmai pratyayasya yatparimāṇam adadāt sa tadanusārato yogyarūpaṁ svaṁ manutām, īśvarād anugrahaṁ prāptaḥ san yuṣmākam ekaikaṁ janam ityājñāpayāmi|
4 For, as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office;
yato yadvadasmākam ekasmin śarīre bahūnyaṅgāni santi kintu sarvveṣāmaṅgānāṁ kāryyaṁ samānaṁ nahi;
5 thus we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and each one members one of the other.
tadvadasmākaṁ bahutve'pi sarvve vayaṁ khrīṣṭe ekaśarīrāḥ parasparam aṅgapratyaṅgatvena bhavāmaḥ|
6 But having different gifts, according to the grace which has been given to us, whether [it be] prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith;
asmād īśvarānugraheṇa viśeṣaṁ viśeṣaṁ dānam asmāsu prāpteṣu satsu kopi yadi bhaviṣyadvākyaṁ vadati tarhi pratyayasya parimāṇānusārataḥ sa tad vadatu;
7 or service, [let us occupy ourselves] in service; or he that teaches, in teaching;
yadvā yadi kaścit sevanakārī bhavati tarhi sa tatsevanaṁ karotu; athavā yadi kaścid adhyāpayitā bhavati tarhi so'dhyāpayatu;
8 or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, in simplicity; he that leads, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness.
tathā ya upadeṣṭā bhavati sa upadiśatu yaśca dātā sa saralatayā dadātu yastvadhipatiḥ sa yatnenādhipatitvaṁ karotu yaśca dayāluḥ sa hṛṣṭamanasā dayatām|
9 Let love be unfeigned; abhorring evil; cleaving to good:
aparañca yuṣmākaṁ prema kāpaṭyavarjitaṁ bhavatu yad abhadraṁ tad ṛtīyadhvaṁ yacca bhadraṁ tasmin anurajyadhvam|
10 as to brotherly love, kindly affectioned towards one another: as to honour, each taking the lead in paying it to the other:
aparaṁ bhrātṛtvapremnā parasparaṁ prīyadhvaṁ samādarād eko'parajanaṁ śreṣṭhaṁ jānīdhvam|
11 as to diligent zealousness, not slothful; in spirit fervent; serving the Lord.
tathā kāryye nirālasyā manasi ca sodyogāḥ santaḥ prabhuṁ sevadhvam|
12 As regards hope, rejoicing: as regards tribulation, enduring: as regards prayer, persevering:
aparaṁ pratyāśāyām ānanditā duḥkhasamaye ca dhairyyayuktā bhavata; prārthanāyāṁ satataṁ pravarttadhvaṁ|
13 distributing to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality.
pavitrāṇāṁ dīnatāṁ dūrīkurudhvam atithisevāyām anurajyadhvam|
14 Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not.
ye janā yuṣmān tāḍayanti tān āśiṣaṁ vadata śāpam adattvā daddhvamāśiṣam|
15 Rejoice with those that rejoice, weep with those that weep.
ye janā ānandanti taiḥ sārddham ānandata ye ca rudanti taiḥ saha rudita|
16 Have the same respect one for another, not minding high things, but going along with the lowly: be not wise in your own eyes:
aparañca yuṣmākaṁ manasāṁ parasparam ekobhāvo bhavatu; aparam uccapadam anākāṅkṣya nīcalokaiḥ sahāpi mārdavam ācarata; svān jñānino na manyadhvaṁ|
17 recompensing to no one evil for evil: providing things honest before all men:
parasmād apakāraṁ prāpyāpi paraṁ nāpakuruta| sarvveṣāṁ dṛṣṭito yat karmmottamaṁ tadeva kuruta|
18 if possible, as far as depends on you, living in peace with all men;
yadi bhavituṁ śakyate tarhi yathāśakti sarvvalokaiḥ saha nirvvirodhena kālaṁ yāpayata|
19 not avenging yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance [belongs] to me, I will recompense, saith the Lord.
he priyabandhavaḥ, kasmaicid apakārasya samucitaṁ daṇḍaṁ svayaṁ na daddhvaṁ, kintvīśvarīyakrodhāya sthānaṁ datta yato likhitamāste parameśvaraḥ kathayati, dānaṁ phalasya matkarmma sūcitaṁ pradadāmyahaṁ|
20 If therefore thine enemy should hunger, feed him; if he should thirst, give him drink; for, so doing, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head.
itikāraṇād ripu ryadi kṣudhārttaste tarhi taṁ tvaṁ prabhojaya| tathā yadi tṛṣārttaḥ syāt tarhi taṁ paripāyaya| tena tvaṁ mastake tasya jvaladagniṁ nidhāsyasi|
21 Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
kukriyayā parājitā na santa uttamakriyayā kukriyāṁ parājayata|
