Psalms 91

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Wer unter dem Schirm des Höchsten sitzt und unter dem Schatten des Allmächtigen wohnt,

2 I say of Jehovah, My refuge and my fortress; my God, I will confide in him.

der spricht zum HERRN: Meine Zuflucht und meine Burg, mein Gott, auf den ich traue!

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the destructive pestilence.

Ja, er wird dich erretten von der Schlinge des Voglers und von der verderblichen Pest;

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou find refuge: his truth is a shield and buckler.

er wird dich mit seinem Fittich decken, und unter seinen Flügeln wirst du dich bergen; seine Treue ist Schirm und Schild.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, for the arrow that flieth by day,

Du brauchst dich nicht zu fürchten vor den Schrecken der Nacht, vor den Pfeilen, die bei Tage fliegen;

6 For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

vor der Pestilenz, die im Finstern schleicht, vor der Seuche, die am Mittag verderbt.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee.

Ob tausend fallen zu deiner Seite und zehntausend zu deiner Rechten, dir naht sie nicht;

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the reward of the wicked.

nur mit deinen Augen wirst du zusehen und schauen, wie den Gottlosen vergolten wird.

9 Because thou hast made Jehovah, my refuge, the Most High, thy dwelling-place,

Denn du [sprichst]: Der HERR ist meine Zuflucht! Den Höchsten hast du zu deiner Schutzwehr gemacht;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.

es wird dir kein Unglück zustoßen und keine Plage zu deinem Zelte sich nahen;

11 For he shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to keep thee in all thy ways:

denn er hat seine Engel für dich aufgeboten, daß sie dich behüten auf allen deinen Wegen,

12 They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

daß sie dich auf den Händen tragen und du deinen Fuß nicht an einen Stein stoßest.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot.

Auf Löwen und Ottern wirst du treten, wirst zertreten junge Löwen und Drachen.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

Denn er klammert sich an mich an, darum will ich ihn erretten; ich will ihn sicherstellen, weil er meinen Namen kennt.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him.

Ruft er mich an, so will ich ihn erhören; ich bin bei ihm in der Not, ich will ihn herausreißen und zu Ehren bringen;

16 With length of days will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

ich will ihn sättigen mit langem Leben und ihn seine Lust schauen lassen an meinem Heil!
