Psalms 90
1 A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.
Ein Gebet, von Moses, dem Gottesmann. - Ein Obdach bist Du, Herr, für uns durch alle Menschenalter.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou art God.
Bevor die Berge noch geboren wurden, bevor die Erde und die Welt gezeugt, bist Du von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeiten, Gott.
3 Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.
Die Menschen wandelst Du in Staub und sprichst: "Ihr andern Menschenkinder: werdet!"
4 For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
Denn tausend Jahre sind in Deinen Augen gleich einem jüngst vergangenen Tag, gleich einer Wache in der Nacht.
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:
Du lässest sie im Schlaf entstehen; sie sind wie Gras, das morgens sprießt,
6 In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.
das morgens blüht und sprießt, am Abend welkt und dorrt
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.
Vor Deinem Zorn vergehen wir; zunichte werden wir vor Deinem Grimme,
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
wenn Du Dir unsere Vergehn vor Augen stellst, vor Deines Angesichtes Leuchte unsere schlimmsten Fehler.
9 For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.
Denn alle unsere Tage schwinden unter Deinem Grimme, und wir verbringen unsere Jahre einem Seufzer gleich.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Auf siebzig kommen unsres Lebens Jahre, bei großer Kraft auf achtzig. Ihr Stolz ist Mühsal nur und Elend. Sie eilen schnell dahin, und wir entschwinden.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?
Wer weiß Bescheid mit Deines Zornes Stärke und wer mit Deinem Grimm, der Furcht vor Dir entsprechend?
12 So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
Dieweil wir also unsere Tage zählen, zeig doch das Richtige, auf daß wir zur Vernunft gelangen!
13 Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
Laß ab, o Herr! Wie lange noch? Werd andern Sinnes über Deine Knechte!
14 Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Erquick uns bald mit Deiner Huld, damit wir jubelnd lebenslang uns freuen!
15 Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
Erfreu mit so viel Tagen uns, wie wir getrauert, mit so viel Jahren, wie in Unheil wir gelebt.
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.
Dein Wirken zeige sich an Deinen Knechten und Deine Herrlichkeit an ihren Kindern!
17 And let the beauty of Jehovah our God be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.
Des Herrn, unseres Gottes Gnade walte über uns, und fördere unsrer Hände Werk bei uns, ja, fördere unserer Hände Werk!
