Psalms 89
1 An instruction. Of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the loving-kindness of Jehovah for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness from generation to generation.
Ein Maskil Ethans, des Esrachiten. Die Gnadenerweisungen Jahwes will ich immerdar besingen, will deine Treue allen künftigen Geschlechtern mit meinem Munde verkündigen.
2 For I said, Loving-kindness shall be built up for ever; in the very heavens wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.
Denn du sprachst: “Auf ewig wird die Gnadenverheißung aufgebaut”; auf den Himmel gründetest du deine Treue.
3 I have made a covenant with mine elect, I have sworn unto David my servant:
“Ich habe meinen Erwählten eine Zusicherung gegeben, habe meinem Knechte David geschworen:
4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne from generation to generation. (Selah)
“Auf ewig will ich deine Nachkommenschaft fest gegründet sein lassen und für alle künftigen Geschlechter deinen Thron erbauen.” (Sela)
5 And the heavens shall celebrate thy wonders, O Jehovah, and thy faithfulness in the congregation of the saints.
Und es preist der Himmel deine Wunder, Jahwe, und deine Treue in der Versammlung der Heiligen.
6 For who in the heaven can be compared to Jehovah? [who] among the sons of the mighty shall be likened to Jehovah?
Denn wer im Gewölke gleicht Jahwe, ist Jahwe ähnlich unter den Göttersöhnen?
7 God is greatly to be feared in the council of the saints, and terrible for all that are round about him.
dem Gotte, der überaus schrecklich im Rate der Heiligen und furchtbar über alle um ihn her.
8 Jehovah, God of hosts, who is like unto thee, the strong Jah? And thy faithfulness is round about thee.
Jahwe, du Gott der Heerscharen, wer ist wie du gewaltig, Jah? Und deine Treue ist rings um dich her.
9 Thou rulest the pride of the sea: when its waves arise, thou stillest them.
Du beherrschest den Übermut des Meers; wenn sich seine Wellen erheben, du stillst sie.
10 Thou hast crushed Rahab as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength.
Du hast Rahab wie einen Erschlagenen zermalmt; mit deinem starken Arm zerstreutest du deine Feinde.
11 Thine are the heavens, the earth also is thine; the world and its fulness, thou hast founded them.
Dein ist der Himmel, dein auch die Erde; der Erdkreis und was ihn füllt, - du hast sie gegründet.
12 The north and the south, thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon triumph in thy name.
Nord und Süd, du hast sie geschaffen, Thabor und Hermon jubeln über deinen Namen.
13 Thine is the arm of might: strong is thy hand, high is thy right hand.
Du hast einen Arm voller Kraft; stark ist deine Hand, hoch erhoben deine Rechte.
14 Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of thy throne; loving-kindness and truth go before thy face.
Gerechtigkeit und Recht ist die Grundfeste deines Throns, Gnade und Treue gehen vor dir her.
15 Blessed is the people that know the shout of joy: they walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance.
Wohl dem Volke, das Jubelruf kennt, das, o Jahwe, im Lichte deines Angesichts wandelt!
16 In thy name are they joyful all the day, and in thy righteousness are they exalted.
Über deinen Namen frohlocken sie allezeit und stehen groß da durch deine Gerechtigkeit.
17 For thou art the glory of their strength; and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
Denn du bist ihre starke Zier, und durch deine Gunst ist unser Horn hoch erhoben.
18 For Jehovah is our shield, and the Holy One of Israel, our king.
Denn Jahwe gehört unser Schild und dem Heiligen Israels unser König.
19 Then thou spakest in vision of thy Holy One, and saidst, I have laid help upon a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
Damals redetest du im Gesichte zu deinem Frommen und sprachst: “Ich habe ein Diadem auf einen Helden gelegt, einen Erwählten aus dem Volk emporgezogen.
20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
“Ich habe David, meinen Knecht, gefunden, mit meinem heiligen Öl ihn gesalbt,
21 With whom my hand shall be established; and mine arm shall strengthen him.
“ihn, mit dem meine Hand beständig sein, und den mein Arm stärken wird.
22 No enemy shall exact upon him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him;
“Kein Feind soll ihn berücken, noch ein Ruchloser ihn überwältigen.
23 But I will beat down his adversaries before his face, and will smite them that hate him.
“Sondern ich will seine Bedränger vor ihm her zermalmen und, die ihn hassen, will ich schlagen.
24 And my faithfulness and my loving-kindness shall be with him, and by my name shall his horn be exalted.
“Meine Treue und Gnade sollen mit ihm sein, und durch meinen Namen soll sein Horn hoch erhoben sein.
25 And I will set his hand in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.
“Ich will machen, daß seine Hand siegreich auf dem Meere liegt und seine Rechte auf den Strömen.
26 He shall call unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation;
“Er wird mich rufen: Mein Vater bist du, mein Gott und der Fels meines Heils!
27 And as to me, I will make him firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
“Ja, zum Erstgebornen will ich ihn machen, zum Höchsten unter den Königen der Erde.
28 My loving-kindness will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him;
“Auf ewig will ich ihm meine Gnade bewahren, und meine Zusicherung bleibt ihm gewiß.
29 And I will establish his seed for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
“Ich will seiner Nachkommenschaft ewigen Bestand verleihen und seinem Throne, so lange der Himmel währt.
30 If his sons forsake my law, and walk not in mine ordinances;
“Wenn seine Söhne mein Gesetz verlassen und nicht nach meinen Rechten wandeln,
31 If they profane my statutes, and keep not my commandments:
“wenn sie meine Satzungen entweihen und meine Gebote nicht halten,
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
“so werde ich mit dem Stock ihr Vergehen ahnden und ihre Verschuldung mit Schlägen.
33 Nevertheless my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor belie my faithfulness;
“Aber meine Gnade will ich ihm nicht entziehen und werde meine Treue nicht brechen.
34 My covenant will I not profane, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
“Ich will meine Zusicherung nicht entweihen und nicht ändern, was über meine Lippen gegangen ist.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness; I will not lie unto David:
“Einmal habe ich bei meiner Heiligkeit geschworen - ich werde David nimmermehr belügen! -:
36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me;
“Seine Nachkommenschaft soll ewig bestehen und sein Thron so wandellos vor mir wie die Sonne.”
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and the witness in the sky is firm. (Selah)
Gleich dem Monde soll er ewig bestehen, und der Zeuge im Gewölk ist zuverlässig! (Sela)
38 But thou hast rejected and cast off; thou hast been very wroth with thine anointed:
Und doch hast du verworfen und verschmäht, bist gegen deinen Gesalbten ergrimmt.
39 Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant; thou hast profaned his crown to the ground:
Du verabscheust die Zusicherung an deinen Knecht, hast sein Diadem entweiht und zu Boden getreten.
40 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin.
Du hast alle seine Mauern niedergerissen, alle seine Bollwerke in Trümmer gelegt.
41 All that pass by the way plunder him; he is become a reproach to his neighbours.
Alle, die des Wegs vorüberkamen, haben ihn geplündert; er ward zum Hohn für seine Nachbarn.
42 Thou hast exalted the right hand of his oppressors; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice:
Du ließest die Rechte seiner Bedränger siegreich sein, erfreutest alle seine Feinde.
43 Yea, thou hast turned back the edge of his sword, and hast not made him stand in the battle.
Du ließest die Schneide seines Schwerts zurückweichen und ließest ihn im Kampfe nicht aufkommen.
44 Thou hast made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground;
Du hast seinem Glanz ein Ende gemacht und seinen Thron zu Boden gestürzt.
45 The days of his youth hast thou shortened; thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
Du hast die Tage seiner Jugend verkürzt, hast ihn mit Schande umhüllt. (Sela)
46 How long, Jehovah, wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy fury burn like fire?
Wie lange, Jahwe, willst du dich für immer verbergen, und soll dein Grimm wie Feuer brennen?
47 Remember, as regards me, what life is. Wherefore hast thou created all the children of men to be vanity?
Gedenke doch, wie kurz mein Leben ist, zu welchem Nichts du alle Menschenkinder geschaffen hast!
48 What man liveth, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Wo wäre einer, der leben bliebe und den Tod nicht sähe, der sein Leben aus der Gewalt der Unterwelt erretten könnte? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
49 Where, Lord, are thy former loving-kindnesses, [which] thou swarest unto David in thy faithfulness?
Wo sind, o Herr, deine früheren Gnadenverheißungen, die du David kraft deiner Treue geschworen hast?
50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants — that I bear in my bosom [that of] all the mighty peoples —
Gedenke, Herr, der Schmach deiner Knechte, daß ich in meinem Busen den ganzen Hohn der Völker trage,
51 Wherewith thine enemies, O Jehovah, have reproached, wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.
womit deine Feinde, Jahwe, gehöhnt haben, womit sie gehöhnt haben die Fußspuren deines Gesalbten!
52 Blessed be Jehovah for evermore! Amen, and Amen.
Gepriesen sei Jahwe in Ewigkeit. Amen, Amen!
