Psalms 81
1 To the chief Musician. Upon the Gittith. [A Psalm] of Asaph. Sing ye joyously unto God our strength, shout aloud unto the God of Jacob;
Para el director del coro. En el gitit. Un salmo de Asaf. Canten a Dios, porque es nuestra fuerza; griten de alegría al Dios de Jacob.
2 Raise a song, and sound the tambour, the pleasant harp with the lute.
¡Comiencen la canción! Toquen la pandereta, la lira de sonido dulce, y el arpa.
3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the set time, on our feast day:
Soplen la trompeta a la luna nueva, y a la luna llena, para iniciar nuestros festivales,
4 For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob;
porque esta es una regla de Israel, un reglamento del Dios de Jacob.
5 He ordained it in Joseph [for] a testimony, when he went forth over the land of Egypt, [where] I heard a language that I knew not.
Dios hizo este estatuto por José, cuando se opuso a la tierra de Egipto. Escuché una voz que no conocía diciendo:
6 I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands were freed from the basket.
“Tomo la carga de tus hombros; libero tus manos de las canastas pesadas.
7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
Clamaste a mí en tu sufrimiento, y te salvé. Te respondí desde las nubes tormentosas. Te probé en las aguas de Meriba. (Selah)
8 Hear, my people, and I will testify unto thee; O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me!
¡Pueblo mío! ¡Escuchen mis avisos! Pueblo de Israel, ¡Escúchenme!
9 There shall no strange god be in thee, neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.
No debe haber dios extraño entre ustedes; no deben postrarse nunca ante dioses extranjeros ni adorarlos.
10 I am Jehovah thy God, that brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Porque yo soy el Señor su Dios que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto. Abran su boca y yo los saciaré.
11 But my people hearkened not to my voice, and Israel would none of me.
Pero mi pueblo no me escuchó. Israel no quería nada conmigo.
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' stubbornness: they walked after their own counsels.
Así que los envié lejos a seguir su pensamiento terco, viviendo como escogieran.
13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, that Israel had walked in my ways!
¡Si tan solo mi pueblo me escuchara; si tan solo Israel siguiera mis caminos!
14 I would soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
No me tomaría tanto tiempo derrotar a sus enemigos, ni derribar a los que están en su contra.
15 The haters of Jehovah would have come cringing unto him; but their time would have been for ever.
Los que odian al Señor se retorcerán frente a él, condenados para siempre.
16 And he would have fed them with the finest of wheat; yea, with honey out of the rock would I have satisfied thee.
Pero yo, los alimentaría con el mejor trigo, y los satisfaría con miel de la roca”.
