Psalms 77
1 To the chief Musician. On Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A Psalm. My voice is unto God, and I will cry; my voice is unto God, and he will give ear unto me.
Au maître-chantre. — Selon Jéduthun. — Psaume d'Asaph. Ma voix s'adresse à Dieu, et je crie; Ma voix s'adresse à Dieu, afin qu'il m'écoute.
2 In the day of my trouble, I sought the Lord: my hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not; my soul refused to be comforted.
Au jour de ma détresse, je cherche le Seigneur; La nuit, ma main est tendue vers lui et ne se lasse point; Mon âme refuse d'être consolée.
3 I remembered God, and I moaned; I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. (Selah)
Je me souviens de Dieu, et je gémis; Je médite, et mon esprit est abattu. (Pause)
4 Thou holdest open mine eyelids; I am full of disquiet and cannot speak.
Tu tiens mes paupières ouvertes; Je suis troublé, je ne puis parler.
5 I consider the days of old, the years of ancient times.
Je pense aux jours d'autrefois. Aux années des temps passés.
6 I remember my song in the night; I muse in mine own heart, and my spirit maketh diligent search.
Je me souviens de mes cantiques pendant la nuit; Je médite en mon coeur. Mon esprit se demande:
7 Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
«Le Seigneur nous rejettera-t-il éternellement? Ne sera-t-il plus jamais propice?
8 Hath his loving-kindness ceased for ever? hath [his] word come to an end from generation to generation?
Sa bonté est-elle à jamais épuisée? Sa promesse est-elle anéantie pour toujours?
9 Hath God forgotten to be gracious? or hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? (Selah)
Dieu a-t-il oublié d'avoir pitié? A-t-il, dans sa colère, mis un terme à ses compassions?» (Pause)
10 Then said I, This is my weakness: — the years of the right hand of the Most High
Puis je me dis: «Voici la cause de ma souffrance: C'est que la main droite du Très-Haut a changé»
11 Will I remember, — the works of Jah; for I will remember thy wonders of old,
Je me rappellerai donc les actions glorieuses de l'Éternel. Oui, je me souviendrai de tes merveilles d'autrefois;
12 And I will meditate upon all thy work, and muse upon thy doings.
Je penserai à toutes tes oeuvres, Et j'évoquerai le souvenir de tes prodiges!
13 O God, thy way is in the sanctuary: who is so great a god as God?
Ô Dieu, tes voies sont saintes! Quel Dieu est grand comme notre Dieu?
14 Thou art the God that doest wonders; thou hast declared thy strength among the peoples.
Tu es le Dieu qui accomplit des merveilles; Tu as fait connaître parmi les peuples ta puissance.
15 Thou hast with [thine] arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. (Selah)
Par ton bras, tu as délivré ton peuple, Les enfants de Jacob et de Joseph. (Pause)
16 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they trembled, yea, the depths were troubled:
Les eaux t'ont vu, ô Dieu! Les eaux t'ont vu, elles ont frémi; Même les abîmes furent ébranlés.
17 The thick clouds poured out water; the skies sent out a sound, yea, thine arrows went abroad:
Les nuées se répandirent en torrents d'eau; Les nuages lancèrent la foudre Et tes flèches volèrent de toutes parts.
18 The voice of thy thunder was in the whirlwind, lightnings lit up the world; the earth was troubled and it quaked.
Ton tonnerre gronda dans le tourbillon; Les éclairs illuminèrent le monde; La terre fut ébranlée et trembla.
19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths are in the great waters; and thy footsteps are not known.
Tu te fis un chemin dans la mer, Un sentier dans les grandes eaux, Sans qu'on pût reconnaître tes traces.
20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
Tu as conduit ton peuple comme un troupeau, Par la main de Moïse et d'Aaron.
