Psalms 60
1 To the chief Musician. On Shushan. Testimony. Michtam of David; to teach: when he strove with the Syrians of Mesopotamia, and the Syrians of Zobah, and Joab returned, and smote the Edomites in the valley of salt, twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased: restore us again.

2 Thou hast made the earth to tremble, thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
Als er mit den Syrern Mesopothamiens und den Syrern von Zoba stritt, / und als Joab zurückkehrte und 12000 Edomiter im Salztal schlug.
3 Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us to drink the wine of bewilderment.
Elohim, du hast uns verworfen, zersprengt; / Du hast uns gezürnt: erheb uns nun wieder!
4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth, (Selah)
Erschüttert hast du das Land, es zerrissen; / Heile seine Brüche, denn es wankt!
5 That thy beloved ones may be delivered. Save with thy right hand, and answer me.
Du ließest dein Volk gar Schweres erleben, / Du hast uns getränkt mit Taumelwein.
6 God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
Nun hast du deinen Frommen ein Panier geschenkt, / Um das sie sich scharen sollen / Für die gerechte Sache. (Sela)
7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver;
Damit deine Lieben gerettet werden, / So hilf denn mit deiner Rechten und hör uns!
8 Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; Philistia, shout aloud because of me.
Elohim hat mir verheißen bei seinem heiligen Namen: / Frohlocken soll ich, austeilen Sichem / Und vermessen das Tal Sukkot.
9 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me unto Edom?
Mein ist Gilead und mein Manasse, / Efraim schützt mein Haupt als Helm, / Juda ist mein Herrscherstab.
10 [Wilt] not thou, O God, who didst cast us off? and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?
Moab ist mein Waschbecken, / Auf Edom werf ich meinen Schuh. / Schrei laut über mich o Philisterstadt!"
11 Give us help from trouble; for vain is man's deliverance.
Wer bringt mich hinein in die feste Stadt? / Wer führt mich hin nach Edom?
12 Through God we shall do valiantly; and he it is that will tread down our adversaries.
Du, Elohim, du hast uns verworfen; / Du zogst nicht aus, Elohim, mit unsern Heeren. O schaff uns Beistand gegen den Feind! / Denn nichtig ist Menschenhilfe. Mit Elohim verrichten wir Heldentaten. / Er wird unsre Feinde zertreten.
