Psalms 6

1 To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments, upon Sheminith. A Psalm of David. Jehovah, rebuke me not in thine anger, and chasten me not in thy hot displeasure.

Au maître-chantre. — Avec instruments à cordes, pour voix de basse. — Psaume de David. Éternel, ne me punis pas, dans ta colère, Et ne me châtie pas, dans l'ardeur de ton courroux!

2 Be gracious unto me, Jehovah, for I am withered; Jehovah, heal me, for my bones tremble.

Aie pitié de moi, ô Éternel; car je suis défaillant. Guéris-moi, ô Éternel; car mes os sont tout tremblants.

3 And my soul trembleth exceedingly: and thou, Jehovah, till how long?

Mon âme aussi est troublée; Et toi, ô Éternel, jusques à quand?

4 Return, Jehovah, free my soul; save me for thy loving-kindness' sake.

Reviens, ô Éternel, délivre mon âme; Sauve-moi, dans ta bonté!

5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee; in Sheol who shall give thanks unto thee? (Sheol h7585)

Car, dans la mort il n'est plus fait mention de toi; Qui te glorifiera dans le Séjour des morts? (Sheol h7585)

6 I am wearied with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I dissolve my couch with my tears.

Je m'épuise à gémir; Chaque nuit, je baigne ma couche de pleurs; Je trempe mon lit de mes larmes.

7 Mine eye wasteth away through grief; it hath grown old because of all mine oppressors.

Mon oeil se consume de chagrin; Il se flétrit à cause de tous ceux qui m'oppriment.

8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for Jehovah hath heard the voice of my weeping.

Éloignez-vous de moi, vous tous, ouvriers d'iniquité; Car l'Éternel a entendu mes cris et mes pleurs.

9 Jehovah hath heard my supplication; Jehovah receiveth my prayer.

L'Éternel a entendu ma supplication; L'Éternel accueille ma prière.

10 All mine enemies shall be ashamed and tremble exceedingly; they will turn, they will be ashamed suddenly.

Tous mes ennemis seront saisis de honte et d'effroi; Ils reculeront, ils seront soudain couverts de honte.
