Psalms 55
1 To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments: an instruction. Of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
Pour la fin, dans les cantiques, intelligence à David. Exaucez, ô Dieu, ma prière, et ne méprisez pas ma supplication.
2 Attend unto me, and answer me: I wander about in my plaint, and I moan aloud,
Portez votre attention sur moi, et exaucez-moi. J’ai été contristé dans ma méditation: et j’ai été troublé
3 Because of the voice of the enemy; because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in anger they persecute me.
À la voix d’un ennemi et à cause de l’oppression du pécheur. Parce qu’ils ont détourné sur moi des iniquités; et par colère ils me tourmentaient.
4 My heart is writhing within me, and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
Mon cœur a été troublé au dedans de moi; et la frayeur de la mort est tombée sur moi.
5 Fear and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
Une crainte et un tremblement sont venus sur moi; et des ténèbres m’ont couvert.
6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away, and be at rest;
Et j’ai dit: Qui me donnera des ailes comme les ailes d’une colombe, et je m’envolerai, et je me reposerai?
7 Behold, I would flee afar off, I would lodge in the wilderness; (Selah)
Voilà que je me suis éloigné en fuyant: et j’ai demeuré dans le désert.
8 I would hasten my escape from the stormy wind, from the tempest.
J’attendais celui qui m’a sauvé d’un abattement d’esprit et d’une tempête.
9 Swallow [them] up, Lord; divide their tongue: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
Précipitez- les, Seigneur, divisez leurs langues; parce que j’ai vu l’iniquité et la discorde dans la cité.
10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof; and iniquity and mischief are in the midst of it.
Jour et nuit l’iniquité l’environnera sur ses murs: le travail est au milieu d’elle,
11 Perversities are in the midst thereof; and oppression and deceit depart not from its streets.
Ainsi que l’injustice. L’usure n’a pas fait défaut dans ses places publiques, ni la fraude.
12 For it is not an enemy that hath reproached me — then could I have borne it; neither is it he that hateth me that hath magnified [himself] against me — then would I have hidden myself from him;
Car si c’eût été mon ennemi qui m’eût maudit, je l’aurais supporté certainement. Et si celui qui me haïssait avait parlé contre moi avec hauteur, je me serais, sans doute, caché de lui.
13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, mine intimate, my familiar friend. ...
Mais c’est toi, homme qui vivais avec moi dans un même esprit, mon guide et mon familier,
14 We who held sweet intercourse together. To the house of God we walked amid the throng.
Qui partageais avec moi les doux mets de ma table; nous avons marché dans la maison du Seigneur avec un parfait accord.
15 Let death seize upon them, let them go down alive into Sheol. For wickedness is in their dwellings, in their midst. (Sheol h7585)
Vienne la mort sur eux; et qu’ils descendent dans l’enfer tout vivants: Parce que la méchanceté est dans leurs demeures, au milieu d’eux. (Sheol h7585)
16 As for me, unto God will I call; and Jehovah will save me.
Mais moi, j’ai crié vers Dieu, et le Seigneur me sauvera.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray and moan aloud; and he will hear my voice.
Le soir, et le matin, et à midi, je raconterai et j’annoncerai ses miséricordes, et il exaucera ma voix.
18 He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle against me: for there were many about me.
Il rachètera en paix mon âme de ceux qui s’approchaient de moi; car ils étaient en grand nombre avec moi.
19 God will hear, and afflict them: he that is seated of old, (Selah) ...because there is no change in them, and they fear not God.
Dieu m’ exaucera, et les humiliera, lui qui est avant les siècles. Car il n’y a pas de changement en eux, et ils n’ont pas craint Dieu.
20 He hath put forth his hands against such as are at peace with him; he hath profaned his covenant.
Il a étendu sa main en leur rendant selon leurs mérites. Ils ont souillé son alliance,
21 Smooth were the milky [words] of his mouth, but his heart was war; his words were softer than oil, yet are they drawn swords.
Ils ont été dissipés par la colère de son visage; et son cœur s’est approché contre eux.
22 Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and he will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Déposez vos soins dans le sein du Seigneur, et lui-même vous nourrira; il ne laissera pas éternellement le juste dans l’agitation.
23 And thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days. But as for me, I will confide in thee.
Mais vous, ô Dieu, vous les conduirez dans un puits de destruction. Les hommes de sang et trompeurs n’arriveront pas à la moitié de leurs jours: mais moi, j’espérerai en vous, Seigneur.
