Psalms 54

1 To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments: an instruction. Of David; when the Ziphites came, and said to Saul, Is not David hiding himself with us? O God, by thy name save me, and by thy strength do me justice.

Au chef des chantres. Avec les instruments à cordes. Maskîl de David, lorsque les gens de Ziph furent venus dire à Saül: "David se tient caché dans notre voisinage." O Dieu, secours-moi par ton nom, et rends-moi justice par ta puissance.

2 O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.

Ecoute ma prière, ô Dieu, prête l’oreille aux paroles de ma bouche;

3 For strangers are risen up against me, and the violent seek after my life: they have not set God before them. (Selah)

car des barbares se dressent contre moi, des gens violents en veulent à ma vie: ils n’ont pas de pensée pour Dieu. (Sélah)

4 Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is among them that uphold my soul.

Oui certes, Dieu vient à mon aide, le Seigneur est le soutien de ma vie.

5 He will requite evil to mine enemies: in thy truth cut them off.

Il fera retomber le mal sur mes adversaires: dans ton équité, tu les anéantiras.

6 I will freely sacrifice unto thee; I will praise thy name, O Jehovah, because it is good.

De tout cœur je veux t’offrir des sacrifices; je louerai ton nom, car il signifie bonté.

7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble; and mine eye hath seen [its desire] upon mine enemies.

Oui, il me délivre de toute angoisse, et mes yeux se repaissent de la vue de mes ennemis.
