Psalms 36
1 To the chief Musician. [A Psalm] of the servant of Jehovah; of David. The transgression of the wicked uttereth within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.
Au maître de chant. De David, serviteur de Yahweh. L’iniquité parle au méchant dans le fond de son cœur; la crainte de Dieu n’est pas devant ses yeux.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, [even] when his iniquity is found to be hateful.
Car il se flatte lui-même, sous le regard divin, doutant que Dieu découvre jamais son crime et le déteste.
3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, to do good.
Les paroles de sa bouche sont injustice et tromperie; il a cessé d’avoir l’intelligence, de faire le bien.
4 He deviseth wickedness up on his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good: he abhorreth not evil.
Il médite l’iniquité sur sa couche; il se tient sur une voie qui n’est pas bonne; il ne rejette pas le mal.
5 Jehovah, thy loving-kindness is in the heavens, and thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the clouds.
Yahweh, ta bonté atteint jusqu’aux cieux, ta fidélité jusqu’aux nues.
6 Thy righteousness is like the high mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: thou, Jehovah, preservest man and beast.
Ta justice est comme les montagnes de Dieu, tes jugements sont comme le vaste abîme. Yahweh, tu gardes les hommes et les bêtes:
7 How precious is thy loving-kindness, O God! So the sons of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
combien est précieuse ta bonté, ô Dieu! A l’ombre de tes ailes les fils de l’homme cherchent un refuge.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
Ils s’enivrent de la graisse de ta maison, et tu les abreuves au torrent de tes délices.
9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
Car auprès de toi est la source de la vie, et dans ta lumière nous voyons la lumière.
10 Continue thy loving-kindness unto them that know thee, and thy righteousness to the upright in heart;
Continue ta bonté à ceux qui te connaissent, et ta justice à ceux qui ont le cœur droit.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
Que le pied de l’orgueilleux ne m’atteigne pas, et que la main des méchants ne me fasse pas fuir!
12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and are not able to rise.
Les voilà tombés, ceux qui commettent l’iniquité! Ils sont renversés, et ils ne peuvent se relever.
