Psalms 23

1 A Psalm of David. Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want.

[Ein Psalm von David.] Jehova ist mein Hirte, mir wird nichts mangeln.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside still waters.

Er lagert mich auf grünen Auen, er führt mich zu [O. an] stillen Wassern.

3 He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Er erquickt meine Seele, er leitet mich in Pfaden der Gerechtigkeit um seines Namens willen.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

Auch wenn ich wanderte im Tale des Todesschattens, fürchte ich nichts Übles, denn du bist bei mir; dein Stecken und dein Stab, sie trösten mich.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Du bereitest vor mir einen Tisch angesichts meiner Feinde; du hast mein Haupt mit Öl gesalbt, mein Becher fließt über.

6 Surely, goodness and loving-kindness shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of Jehovah for the length of the days.

Fürwahr, [O. Nur] Güte und Huld werden mir folgen alle Tage meines Lebens; und ich werde wohnen im Hause Jehovas auf immerdar. [W. auf Länge der Tage]
