Psalms 20

1 To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Jehovah answer thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob protect thee;

Dem Musikmeister. Ein Psalm Davids. Jahwe erhöre dich am Tage der Not, es schütze dich der Name des Gottes Jakobs!

2 May he send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;

Er sende dir Hilfe vom Heiligtum und vom Zion her stütze er dich.

3 Remember all thine oblations, and accept thy burnt-offering; (Selah)

Er gedenke aller deiner Opfergaben und deine Brandopfer finde er fett. (Sela)

4 Grant thee according to thy heart, and fulfil all thy counsels.

Er gebe dir, was dein Herz wünscht, und all' dein Vorhaben lasse er gelingen.

5 We will triumph in thy salvation, and in the name of our God will we set up our banners. Jehovah fulfil all thy petitions!

Möchten wir jubeln dürfen über die Hilfe, die dir zu teil ward, und ob des Namens unseres Gottes die Banner schwingen. Jahwe erfülle alle deine Bitten!

6 Now know I that Jehovah saveth his anointed; he answereth him from the heavens of his holiness, with the saving strength of his right hand.

Nun weiß ich, daß Jahwe seinem Gesalbten hilft; er erhört ihn von seinem heiligen Himmel her durch Machtthaten, durch die Hilfe seiner Rechten.

7 Some make mention of chariots, and some of horses, but we of the name of Jehovah our God.

Sie vertrauen auf Wagen und auf Rosse; wir aber rufen den Namen unseres Gottes an.

8 They are bowed down and fallen; but we are risen and stand upright.

Sie stürzten und fielen; wir aber richteten uns empor und blieben aufrecht.

9 Save, Jehovah! Let the king answer us in the day we call.

Jahwe hilf dem König und erhöre uns, wenn wir rufen!
