Psalms 14

1 To the chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They have corrupted themselves, they have done abominable works: there is none that doeth good.

সংগীত পরিচালকের জন্য। দাউদের গীত। মূর্খ নিজের হৃদয়ে বলে, “ঈশ্বর নেই।” তারা দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত, তাদের কাজ ভ্রষ্ট; সৎকর্ম করে এমন কেউই নেই।

2 Jehovah looked down from the heavens upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.

সদাপ্রভু স্বর্গ থেকে মানবজাতির দিকে চেয়ে দেখেন, তিনি দেখেন সুবিবেচক কেউ আছে কি না, ঈশ্বরের অন্বেষণ করে এমন কেউ আছে কি না!

3 They have all gone aside, they are together become corrupt: there is none that doeth good, not even one.

সকলেই বিপথগামী হয়েছে, সকলেই দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে; সৎকর্ম করে এমন কেউই নেই, একজনও নেই।

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, eating up my people [as] they eat bread? They call not upon Jehovah.

এসব অনিষ্টকারীর কি কিছুই জ্ঞান নেই? তারা আমার ভক্তদের রুটি খাওয়ার মতো গ্রাস করে; সদাপ্রভুর কাছে তারা কখনও সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করে না।

5 There were they in great fear; for God is in the generation of the righteous.

নিদারুণ আতঙ্কে তারা বিহ্বল হয়েছে, কারণ ঈশ্বর ধার্মিকদের সভায় উপস্থিত থাকেন।

6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the afflicted, because Jehovah [was] his refuge.

তোমরা অনিষ্টকারীরা অসহায়দের প্রচেষ্টা ব্যর্থ করো, কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু তাদের আশ্রয়।

7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When Jehovah turneth again the captivity of his people, Jacob shall be glad, Israel shall rejoice.

আহা, ইস্রায়েলের পরিত্রাণ আসবে সিয়োন থেকে! যখন সদাপ্রভু তাঁর ভক্তজনদের পুনরুদ্ধার করবেন, তখন যাকোব উল্লসিত হবে আর ইস্রায়েল আনন্দ করবে।
