< Psalms 125 >

1 A Song of degrees. They that confide in Jehovah are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved; it abideth for ever.
A song of ascents. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, that cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2 Jerusalem! — mountains are round about her, and Jehovah is round about his people, from henceforth and for evermore.
Round Jerusalem are the mountains, and the Lord is round his people from now and for evermore.
3 For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
For he will not suffer the sceptre of wrong to rest on the land allotted to the righteous; else the righteous might put forth their own hand to evil.
4 Do good, O Jehovah, unto the good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
Do good, O Lord, to the good, and to the true-hearted.
5 But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!
But those who swerve into crooked ways will the Lord lead away with the workers of evil. Peace be upon Israel.
