< Psalms 124 >

1 A Song of degrees. Of David. If it had not been Jehovah who was for us — oh let Israel say —
Ko e Hiva ʻa Tevita maʻae ʻalu hake. Kapau naʻe ʻikai kau ʻa Sihova mo kitautolu, ʻoku totonu ke lea ni ʻa ʻIsileli;
2 If it had not been Jehovah who was for us, when men rose up against us,
“Kapau naʻe ʻikai kau ʻa Sihova mo kitautolu, ʻi he tuʻu hake ʻae kakai kiate kitautolu:
3 Then they had swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us;
Pehē, kuo nau folo hifo leva ʻakitautolu, ʻi he tupu ʻenau ʻita kiate kitautolu;
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, a torrent had gone over our soul;
Pehē, kuo lōfia ʻakitautolu ʻe he ngaahi vai, kuo tafe ʻae vaitafe ʻi he funga ʻo hotau laumālie:
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
Pea ʻalu ʻae ngaahi vai ʻoe laukau ʻi he funga ʻo hotau laumālie.”
6 Blessed be Jehovah, who gave us not up a prey to their teeth!
Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te ne tukuange ʻakitautolu ko e meʻakai ki honau nifo.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we have escaped.
Kuo hao hotau laumālie ʻo hangē ko e manupuna mei he hele ʻae tangata tauhele: kuo maumauʻi ʻae tauhele, pea kuo tau hao ai.
8 Our help is in the name of Jehovah, the maker of heavens and earth.
Ko hotau tokoni ʻoku ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova, ʻaia naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae langi mo māmani.
