Psalms 109
1 To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm. O God of my praise, be not silent:
Per il Capo de’ musici. Salmo di Davide. O Dio della mia lode, non tacere,
2 For the mouth of the wicked [man] and the mouth of deceit are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue,
perché la bocca dell’empio e la bocca di frode si sono aperte contro di me; hanno parlato contro di me con lingua bugiarda.
3 And with words of hatred have they encompassed me; and they fight against me without a cause.
M’hanno assediato con parole d’odio, e m’hanno fatto guerra senza cagione.
4 For my love they are mine adversaries; but I [give myself unto] prayer.
Invece dell’amore che porto loro, mi sono avversari, ed io non faccio che pregare.
5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
Essi m’hanno reso male per bene, e odio per il mio amore.
6 Set a wicked [man] over him, and let [the] adversary stand at his right hand;
Costituisci un empio su di lui, si tenga alla sua destra un avversario.
7 When he shall be judged, let him go out guilty, and let his prayer become sin;
Quando sarà giudicato, esca condannato, e la sua preghiera gli sia imputata come peccato.
8 Let his days be few, let another take his office;
Siano i suoi giorni pochi: un altro prenda il suo ufficio.
9 Let his sons be fatherless, and his wife a widow;
Siano i suoi figliuoli orfani e la sua moglie vedova.
10 Let his sons be vagabonds and beg, and let them seek [their bread] far from their desolate places;
I suoi figliuoli vadan vagando e accattino, e cerchino il pane lungi dalle loro case in rovina.
11 Let the usurer cast the net over all that he hath, and let strangers despoil his labour;
Getti l’usuraio le sue reti su tutto ciò ch’egli ha, e gli stranieri faccian lor preda delle sue fatiche.
12 Let there be none to extend kindness unto him, neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children;
Nessuno estenda a lui la sua benignità, e non vi sia chi abbia pietà de’ suoi orfani.
13 Let his posterity be cut off; in the generation following let their name be blotted out:
La sua progenie sia distrutta; nella seconda generazione sia cancellato il loro nome!
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out;
L’iniquità dei suoi padri sia ricordata dall’Eterno, e il peccato di sua madre non sia cancellato.
15 Let them be before Jehovah continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth:
Sian quei peccati del continuo davanti all’Eterno, e faccia egli sparire dalla terra la di lui memoria,
16 Because he remembered not to shew kindness, but persecuted the afflicted and needy man, and the broken in heart, to slay him.
perch’egli non si è ricordato d’usar benignità, ma ha perseguitato il misero, il povero, il tribolato di cuore per ucciderlo.
17 And he loved cursing; so let it come unto him. And he delighted not in blessing; and let it be far from him.
Egli ha amato la maledizione, e questa gli è venuta addosso; non si è compiaciuto nella benedizione, ed essa si tien lungi da lui.
18 And he clothed himself with cursing like his vestment; so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones;
S’è vestito di maledizione come della sua veste, ed essa è penetrata come acqua, dentro di lui, e come olio, nelle sue ossa.
19 Let it be unto him as a garment with which he covereth himself, and for a girdle wherewith he is constantly girded.
Siagli essa come un vestito di cui si cuopra, come una cintura di cui sia sempre cinto!
20 Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
Tal sia, da parte dell’Eterno, la ricompensa dei miei avversari, e di quelli che proferiscono del male contro l’anima mia.
21 But do thou for me, Jehovah, Lord, for thy name's sake; because thy loving-kindness is good, deliver me:
Ma tu, o Eterno, o Signore, opera in mio favore, per amor del tuo nome; poiché la tua misericordia è buona, liberami,
22 For I am afflicted and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
perché io son misero e povero, e il mio cuore è piagato dentro di me.
23 I am gone like a shadow when it lengtheneth; I am tossed about like the locust;
Io me ne vo come l’ombra quando s’allunga, sono cacciato via come la locusta.
24 My knees are failing through fasting, and my flesh hath lost its fatness;
Le mie ginocchia vacillano per i miei digiuni, e la mia carne deperisce e dimagra.
25 And I am become a reproach unto them; [when] they look upon me they shake their heads.
Son diventato un obbrobrio per loro; quando mi vedono, scuotono il capo.
26 Help me, Jehovah my God; save me according to thy loving-kindness:
Aiutami, o Eterno, mio Dio, salvami secondo la tua benignità,
27 That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, Jehovah, hast done it.
e sappiano essi che questo è opera della tua mano, che sei tu, o Eterno, che l’hai fatto.
28 Let them curse, but bless thou; when they rise up, let them be ashamed, and let thy servant rejoice.
Essi malediranno, ma tu benedirai; s’innalzeranno e resteran confusi, ma il tuo servitore si rallegrerà.
29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with confusion, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle.
I miei avversari saranno vestiti di vituperio e avvolti nella loro vergogna come in un mantello!
30 I will greatly celebrate Jehovah with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
Io celebrerò altamente l’Eterno con la mia bocca, lo loderò in mezzo alla moltitudine;
31 For he standeth at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those that judge his soul.
poiché egli sta alla destra del povero per salvarlo da quelli che lo condannano a morte.
