Psalms 104
1 Bless Jehovah, O my soul! Jehovah my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with majesty and splendour;
Lobe den HERRN, meine Seele! HERR, mein Gott, du bist sehr groß; mit Pracht und Majestät bist du angetan,
2 Covering thyself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent-curtain; —
du, der in Licht sich hüllt wie in ein Gewand, der den Himmel ausspannt wie ein Zelt,
3 Who layeth the beams of his upper chambers in the waters, who maketh clouds his chariot, who walketh upon the wings of the wind;
der sich seinen Söller zimmert aus Wasser, Wolken zu seinem Wagen macht und auf den Fittichen des Windes einherfährt,
4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flame of fire.
der Winde zu seinen Boten macht, Feuerflammen zu seinen Dienern.
5 He laid the earth upon its foundations: it shall not be removed for ever.
Er hat die Erde auf ihre Grundfesten gestützt, daß sie nimmermehr wanken wird.
6 Thou hadst covered it with the deep, as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains:
Mit der Flut decktest du sie wie mit einem Kleid; die Wasser standen über den Bergen;
7 At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away; —
aber vor deinem Schelten flohen sie, von deiner Donnerstimme wurden sie verscheucht.
8 The mountains rose, the valleys sank, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them; —
Berge stiegen empor, Täler senkten sich zu dem Ort, welchen du ihnen gesetzt hast.
9 Thou hast set a bound which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth.
Du hast den Wassern eine Grenze gesetzt, die sie nicht überschreiten sollen; sie dürfen die Erde nicht wiederum bedecken.
10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys: they run among the mountains;
Du lässest Quellen entspringen in den Tälern; sie fließen zwischen den Bergen hin;
11 They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst.
sie tränken alle Tiere des Feldes; die Wildesel löschen ihren Durst.
12 The birds of heaven dwell by them; they give forth their voice from among the branches.
Über ihnen wohnen die Vögel des Himmels; die lassen aus dem Dickicht ihre Stimme erschallen.
13 He watereth the mountains from his upper-chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
Du tränkst die Berge von deinem Söller herab; von der Frucht deiner Werke wird die Erde satt.
14 He maketh the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; bringing forth bread out of the earth,
Du lässest Gras wachsen für das Vieh und Pflanzen, die der Mensch bearbeiten soll, um Nahrung aus der Erde zu ziehen;
15 And wine which gladdeneth the heart of man; making [his] face shine with oil; and with bread he strengtheneth man's heart.
und damit der Wein des Menschen Herz erfreue und seine Gestalt schön werde vom Öl und das Brot das Herz des Menschen stärke.
16 The trees of Jehovah are satisfied, the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted,
Die Bäume des HERRN trinken sich satt, die Zedern Libanons, die er gepflanzt hat,
17 Where the birds make their nests; [as for] the stork, the fir trees are her house.
woselbst die Vögel nisten und der Storch, der die Zypressen bewohnt.
18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs, a refuge for the rock-badgers.
Die hohen Berge sind für die Steinböcke, die Felsenklüfte sind der Klippdachsen Zuflucht.
19 He made the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth its going down.
Er hat den Mond für bestimmte Zeiten gemacht; die Sonne weiß ihren Untergang.
20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth:
Schaffst du Finsternis, und wird es Nacht, so regen sich alle Tiere des Waldes.
21 The young lions roar after the prey, and to seek their food from God.
Die jungen Löwen brüllen nach Raub und verlangen ihre Nahrung von Gott.
22 The sun ariseth, they retreat, and lay them down in their dens.
Geht die Sonne auf, so ziehen sie sich zurück und legen sich in ihre Höhlen;
23 Man goeth forth unto his work, and to his labour until the evening.
der Mensch aber geht aus an sein Tagewerk, an seine Arbeit bis zum Abend.
24 How manifold are thy works, O Jehovah! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
HERR, wie sind deiner Werke so viel! Du hast sie alle weislich geordnet, und die Erde ist voll deiner Geschöpfe.
25 Yonder is the great and wide sea: therein are moving things innumerable, living creatures small and great.
Da ist das Meer, so groß und weit ausgedehnt; darin wimmelt es ohne Zahl, kleine Tiere samt großen;
26 There go the ships; [there] that leviathan, which thou hast formed to play therein.
da fahren die Schiffe; der Leviatan, den du gemacht hast, um darin zu spielen.
27 These all look unto thee, that thou mayest give their food in its season:
Sie alle warten auf dich, daß du ihnen ihre Speise gebest zu seiner Zeit;
28 That thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.
wenn du ihnen gibst, so sammeln sie; wenn du deine Hand auftust, so werden sie mit Gut gesättigt;
29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath, they expire and return to their dust.
verbirgst du dein Antlitz, so erschrecken sie; nimmst du ihren Odem weg, so vergehen sie und werden wieder zu Staub;
30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created, and thou renewest the face of the earth.
sendest du deinen Odem aus, so werden sie erschaffen, und du erneuerst die Gestalt der Erde.
31 The glory of Jehovah will endure for ever; Jehovah will rejoice in his works.
Die Herrlichkeit des HERRN währe ewig! Möge der HERR Freude erleben an seinen Werken!
32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; he toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.
Blickt er die Erde an, so zittert sie; rührt er die Berge an, so rauchen sie.
33 I will sing unto Jehovah as long as I live; I will sing psalms to my God while I have my being.
Ich will dem HERRN singen mein Leben lang, meinen Gott lobpreisen, solange ich noch bin.
34 My meditation shall be pleasant unto him; I will rejoice in Jehovah.
Möge mein Gedicht ihm wohlgefallen! Ich freue mich am HERRN.
35 Sinners shall be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked shall be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Hallelujah!
Möchten die Sünder von der Erde vertilgt werden und die Gottlosen nicht mehr sein! Lobe den HERRN, meine Seele! Hallelujah!
