Psalms 104
1 Bless Jehovah, O my soul! Jehovah my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with majesty and splendour;
Lobpreis den Herrn, du, meine Seele! Du, Herr, mein Gott, gar groß bist Du, mit Pracht und Herrscherwürde angetan.
2 Covering thyself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent-curtain; —
Du hüllst Dich in das Licht wie in ein Kleid und spannst den Himmel aus wie ein Gezelt. -
3 Who layeth the beams of his upper chambers in the waters, who maketh clouds his chariot, who walketh upon the wings of the wind;
Auf Wasser baut er seinen Söller; zu seinem Wagen macht er Wolken und fährt auf Windesflügeln.
4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flame of fire.
Zu seinen Boten macht er Stürme, zu seinen Dienern Feuerflammen.
5 He laid the earth upon its foundations: it shall not be removed for ever.
Die Erde gründet er auf ihre Pfeiler, daß sie in alle Ewigkeit nicht wanke.
6 Thou hadst covered it with the deep, as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains:
Du deckst den Ozean darüber wie ein Tuch, daß selbst auf Bergen Wasser stehen.
7 At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away; —
jedoch vor Deinem Schelten fliehen sie; vor Deiner Donnerstimme eilen sie davon.
8 The mountains rose, the valleys sank, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them; —
Die einen bleiben auf den Bergen; die andern fließen in die Täler zu dem Ort, von Dir bestimmt
9 Thou hast set a bound which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth.
Du setzest Grenzen, die sie nimmer überschreiten, und niemals decken sie die Erde wieder.
10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys: they run among the mountains;
Du bist's, der Quellen in die Täler sendet; sie rieseln zwischen Bergen hin.
11 They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst.
Sie tränken alles Wild des Feldes; da löschen Zebras ihren Durst.
12 The birds of heaven dwell by them; they give forth their voice from among the branches.
Des Himmels Vögel sitzen drüber und lassen sich aus dem Gebüsche hören.
13 He watereth the mountains from his upper-chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
Die Berge tränkest Du durch Deine Wunderwerke; an Deines Wirkens Frucht ersättigt sich die Erde.
14 He maketh the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; bringing forth bread out of the earth,
Du lässest Gras den Tieren sprossen und Futter für des Menschen Arbeitstiere, um aus der Erde Brot zu ziehen,
15 And wine which gladdeneth the heart of man; making [his] face shine with oil; and with bread he strengtheneth man's heart.
auch Wein, der froh der Menschen Herzen macht, und Öl, das glänzen macht das Angesicht, und Brot, des Menschen Lebensmark.
16 The trees of Jehovah are satisfied, the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted,
Des Herren Bäume werden satt getränkt, die Zedern Libanons, die er gepflanzt,
17 Where the birds make their nests; [as for] the stork, the fir trees are her house.
darin die Vögel ihre Nester bauen, Zypressen, die dem Storch zum Nisten dienen,
18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs, a refuge for the rock-badgers.
die hohen Berge, die den Gemsen, die Felsen, die der Dachse Zuflucht sind.
19 He made the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth its going down.
Du schufst den Mond zum Zeiteinteilen und lehrtest ihren Lauf die Sonne.
20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth:
Wenn Finsternis herab Du senkst und es wird Nacht, dann regt sich alles Waldgetier.
21 The young lions roar after the prey, and to seek their food from God.
Die jungen Löwen brüllen nach dem Fraß, von Gott die Nahrung heischend.
22 The sun ariseth, they retreat, and lay them down in their dens.
Geht dann die Sonne auf, so schleichen sie zurück und strecken sich auf ihre Lager nieder.
23 Man goeth forth unto his work, and to his labour until the evening.
Dann geht der Mensch an seine Arbeit, geht an sein Werkeln bis zum Abend.
24 How manifold are thy works, O Jehovah! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
Wie mannigfaltig, Herr, sind Deine Werke, so weise sind von Dir sie all geordnet! Wie ist die Erde voll von Deinen Schöpfungstaten!
25 Yonder is the great and wide sea: therein are moving things innumerable, living creatures small and great.
Da ist das Meer, so groß und weit, zahlloses Seegetier darin, Geschöpfe klein und groß,
26 There go the ships; [there] that leviathan, which thou hast formed to play therein.
sie ziehen hin und her wie Schiffe samt dem Leviatan, den Du erschaffen, um mit ihm zu spielen.
27 These all look unto thee, that thou mayest give their food in its season:
Sie alle harren Deiner, daß Du zur rechten Zeit sie speisest.
28 That thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.
Und gibst Du ihnen etwas, lesen sie es auf, und wenn Du öffnest Deine Hand, so werden sie des Guten voll.
29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath, they expire and return to their dust.
Doch wendest Du Dein Antlitz ab, dann faßt sie Grauen, und ziehst Du ihren Lebenshauch zurück, dann sterben sie und werden, was sie waren, Staub.
30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created, and thou renewest the face of the earth.
Du sendest Deinen Odem, andere entstehen, und so erneuerst Du der Erde Angesicht. -
31 The glory of Jehovah will endure for ever; Jehovah will rejoice in his works.
Des Herrn Ruhm bestehe ewiglich! An seinen Werken freue sich der Herr,
32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; he toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.
der auf die Erde blickt, daß sie erzittert, und Berge anrührt, daß sie rauchen!
33 I will sing unto Jehovah as long as I live; I will sing psalms to my God while I have my being.
Ich sing dem Herrn. Solang ich lebe, singe ich dem Herrn und preise meinen Gott, solang ich bin.
34 My meditation shall be pleasant unto him; I will rejoice in Jehovah.
Mein Loblied möge ihm gefallen! Ich freue mich des Herrn.
35 Sinners shall be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked shall be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Hallelujah!
Ach, daß die Sünder von der Erde schwänden, daß keine Frevler mehr vorhanden wären! Lobpreis' den Herrn, du meine Seele! Alleluja!
