Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom hath built her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars;

2 she hath slaughtered her cattle, she hath mingled her wine, she hath also prepared her table;
Kalua oia i kana mau mea momona; Kawili ae la oia i kona waina; Hoomakaukau no i kana papaaina.
3 she hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the summits of the high places of the city,
Hoouna aku la oia i kana poe kauwawahine, E hea aku maluna o na wahi kiekie o ke kulanakauhale,
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither. To him that is void of understanding, she saith,
Owai ka mea naaupo? e huli mai ia io'u nei: I ka mea noonoo ole hoi, olelo ae la oia ia ia,
5 Come, eat ye of my bread, and drink of the wine that I have mingled.
Ina, e ai mai oukou i ka'u berena, E inu hoi i ka waina a'u i kawili ai.
6 Forsake follies and live, and go in the way of intelligence.
E haalele i ka poe manao ole, i ola oukou, E hele hoi ma ke ala o ka naauao.
7 He that instructeth a scorner getteth to himself shame; and he that reproveth a wicked [man] [getteth] to himself a blot.
O ka mea e ao aku i ke kanaka aia, E loaa ia ia ka hilahila; O ka mea e ao aku i ka mea hewa, e loaa ia ia ka palahea.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee; reprove a wise [man], and he will love thee.
Mai ao aku i ke kanaka aia, O hoowahawaha mai oia ia oe; E ao aku i ka mea naauao, A e aloha mai oia ia oe.
9 Impart to a wise [man], and he will become yet wiser; teach a righteous [man], and he will increase learning.
E haawi na ka mea naauao, A e oi mau ka naauao; E ao hoi i ka mea hoopono, A e mahuahua ae la kona ike.
10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy is intelligence.
O ka mole o ka naauao, Oia ka makau ia Iehova; O ka ike i ka Mea hemolele, Oia ka noonoo ana,
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.
No ka mea, ma o'u nei, e mahuahua ae ai kou mau la, A e nui ai hoi na makahiki o kou ola ana.
12 If thou art wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself; and if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
Ina e naauao oe, e naauao no oe nou iho; Ina e hoowahawaha oe, maluna ou wale no ia mea.
13 The foolish woman is clamorous; she is stupid, and knoweth nothing.
O ka wahine naaupo, he walaau kona; Ua manao ole, aole oia i ike i kekahi mea.
14 And she sitteth at the entry of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
Noho no oia ma ka puka o kona hale, Ma ka noho hoi ma kahi kiekie o ke kulanakauhale,
15 to call passers-by who go right on their ways:
E hea aku i ka poe hele ma ke ala, Ka poe hele pololei ma ke alanui;
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither. And to him that is void of understanding she saith,
Owai ka mea manao ole? e huli mai i o'u nei; I ka mea naaupo, olelo aku la oia ia ia,
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and the bread of secrecy is pleasant.
Ua ono no na wai i aihueia, Ua mananalo hoi ka berena ke ai malu.
