Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
Figliuol mio, ritieni le mie parole, e fa’ tesoro de’ miei comandamenti.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my teaching, as the apple of thine eye.
Osserva i miei comandamenti e vivrai; custodisci il mio insegnamento come la pupilla degli occhi.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the tablet of thy heart.
Legateli alle dita, scrivili sulla tavola del tuo cuore.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister, and call intelligence [thy] kinswoman:
Di’ alla sapienza: “Tu sei mia sorella”, e chiama l’intelligenza amica tua,
5 that they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger who flattereth with her words.
affinché ti preservino dalla donna altrui, dall’estranea che usa parole melate.
6 For at the window of my house, I looked forth through my lattice,
Ero alla finestra della mia casa, e dietro alla mia persiana stavo guardando,
7 and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the sons, a young man void of understanding,
quando vidi, tra gli sciocchi, scorsi, tra i giovani, un ragazzo privo di senno,
8 passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
che passava per la strada, presso all’angolo dov’essa abitava, e si dirigeva verso la casa di lei,
9 in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the blackness of night and the darkness.
al crepuscolo, sul declinar del giorno, allorché la notte si faceva nera, oscura.
10 And behold, there met him a woman in the attire of a harlot, and subtle of heart.
Ed ecco farglisi incontro una donna in abito da meretrice e astuta di cuore,
11 She is clamorous and unmanageable; her feet abide not in her house:
turbolenta e proterva, che non teneva piede in casa:
12 now without, now in the broadways, — and she lieth in wait at every corner.
ora in istrada, ora per le piazze, e in agguato presso ogni canto.
13 And she caught him and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
Essa lo prese, lo baciò, e sfacciatamente gli disse:
14 I have peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows:
“Dovevo fare un sacrifizio di azioni di grazie; oggi ho sciolto i miei voti;
15 therefore came I forth to meet thee, to seek earnestly thy face, and I have found thee.
perciò ti son venuta incontro per cercarti, e t’ho trovato.
16 I have decked my bed with tapestry coverlets of variegated linen from Egypt;
Ho guarnito il mio letto di morbidi tappeti, di coperte ricamate con filo d’Egitto;
17 I have perfumed my couch with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
l’ho profumato di mirra, d’aloe e di cinnamomo.
18 Come, let us revel in love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with loves.
Vieni inebriamoci d’amore fino al mattino, sollazziamoci in amorosi piaceri;
19 For the husband is not at home, he is gone a long journey;
giacché il mio marito non è a casa; è andato in viaggio lontano;
20 he hath taken the money-bag with him, he will come home on the day of the full moon.
ha preso seco un sacchetto di danaro, non tornerà a casa che al plenilunio”.
21 With her much enticement she beguiled him; with the smoothness of her lips she constrained him.
Ella lo sedusse con le sue molte lusinghe, lo trascinò con la dolcezza delle sue labbra.
22 He went after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, and as stocks [serve] for the correction of the fool;
Egli le andò dietro subito, come un bove va al macello, come uno stolto è menato ai ceppi che lo castigheranno,
23 till an arrow strike through his liver: as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for its life.
come un uccello s’affretta al laccio, senza sapere ch’è teso contro la sua vita, finché una freccia gli trapassi il fegato.
24 And now, ye sons, hearken unto me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Or dunque, figliuoli, ascoltatemi, e state attenti alle parole della mia bocca.
25 Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths:
Il tuo cuore non si lasci trascinare nelle vie d’una tal donna; non ti sviare per i suoi sentieri;
26 for she hath cast down many wounded, and all slain by her were strong.
ché molti ne ha fatti cadere feriti a morte, e grande è la moltitudine di quelli che ha uccisi.
