Proverbs 6
1 My son, if thou hast become surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand for a stranger,
Hijo, si salieres por fiador por tu amigo, si tocaste tu mano al extraño,
2 thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
Enlazado eres con las palabras de tu boca; y preso con las razones de tu boca.
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, since thou hast come into the hand of thy friend: go, humble thyself, and be urgent with thy friend.
Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate; porque has caído en la mano de tu prójimo: Vé, humíllate, y esfuerza tu prójimo.
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids:
No des sueño a tus ojos, ni a tus párpados adormecimiento.
5 deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand [of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Escápate como el corzo de la mano del cazador; y como el ave de la mano del parancero.
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise:
Vé a la hormiga, o! perezoso, mira sus caminos, y sé sabio:
7 which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
La cual no tiene capitán, ni gobernador, ni señor,
8 provideth her bread in the summer, [and] gathereth her food in the harvest.
Y con todo eso apareja en el verano su comida: en el tiempo de la siega allega su mantenimiento.
9 How long, sluggard, wilt thou lie down? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Perezoso; ¿hasta cuándo has de dormir? ¿Cuándo te levantarás de tu sueño?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest!
Tomando un poco de sueño, cabeceando otro poco, poniendo mano sobre mano otro poco para volver a dormir:
11 So shall thy poverty come as a roving plunderer, and thy penury as an armed man.
Vendrá como caminante tu necesidad, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.
12 A man of Belial, a wicked person, is he that goeth about with a perverse mouth;
El hombre perverso es varón inicuo: camina en perversidad de boca,
13 he winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
Guiña con sus ojos, habla con sus pies: enseña con sus dedos;
14 deceits are in his heart; he deviseth mischief at all times, he soweth discords.
Perversidades están en su corazón: en todo tiempo anda pensando mal: enciende rencillas;
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly: in a moment shall he be broken, and without remedy.
Por tanto su calamidad vendrá de repente: súbitamente será quebrantado, y no habrá quien le sane.
16 These six [things] doth Jehovah hate, yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Seis cosas aborrece Jehová, y aun siete abomina su alma:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
Los ojos altivos, la lengua mentirosa, las manos derramadoras de la sangre inocente,
18 a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations; feet that are swift in running to mischief;
El corazón que piensa pensamientos inicuos, los pies presurosos para correr al mal,
19 a false witness that uttereth lies, and he that soweth discords among brethren.
El testigo mentiroso que habla mentiras; y el que enciende rencillas entre los hermanos.
20 My son, observe thy father's commandment, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;
Guarda, hijo mío, el mandamiento de tu padre; y no dejes la ley de tu madre:
21 bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck:
Atala siempre en tu corazón: enlázala a tu cuello.
22 when thou walkest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
Cuando anduvieres, te guie: cuando durmieres, te guarde: cuando despertares, hable contigo:
23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
Porque el mandamiento candela es, y la ley luz; y camino de vida las reprensiones de la enseñanza;
24 to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Para que te guarden de la mala mujer; de la blandura de la lengua de la extraña.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thy heart, neither let her take thee with her eyelids;
No codicies su hermosura en tu corazón: ni te prenda con sus ojos.
26 for by means of a whorish woman [a man is brought] to a loaf of bread, and another's wife doth hunt for the precious soul.
Porque a causa de la mujer ramera viene el hombre a un bocado de pan; y la mujer caza la preciosa alma del varón.
27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his garments not be burned?
¿Tomará el hombre fuego en su seno, y que sus vestidos no se quemen?
28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
¿Andará el hombre sobre las brasas, y que sus pies no se abrasen?
29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife: whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
Así el que entrare a la mujer de su prójimo: no será sin culpa todo hombre que la tocare.
30 They do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry:
No tienen en poco al ladrón, cuando hurtare para henchir su alma, teniendo hambre:
31 and if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
Mas tomado, paga las setenas: o da toda la sustancia de su casa.
32 Whoso committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
Mas el que comete adulterio con la mujer, es falto de entendimiento: corrompe su alma el que tal hace.
33 A wound and contempt shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
Plaga y vergüenza hallará; y su afrenta nunca será raída.
34 For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance;
Porque el zelo sañudo del varón no perdonará en el día de la venganza.
35 he will not regard any ransom, neither will he rest content though thou multipliest [thy] gifts.
No tendrá respeto a ninguna redención: ni querrá perdonar aunque le multipliques el cohecho.
