< Proverbs 5 >
1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, incline thine ear to my understanding;
Me ba, yɛ aso ma me nyansa; tie me nhumu nsɛm no yiye,
2 that thou mayest keep reflection, and that thy lips may preserve knowledge.
sɛnea ɛbɛma woahwɛ yiye, na wʼano akora nimdeɛ.
3 For the lips of the strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
Efisɛ ɔbea aguaman ano sosɔ ɛwo, na ne kasa yɛ fɔmm sen ngo;
4 but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
nanso awiei no, ɛyɛ nwen sen bɔnwoma, ɛyɛ nam sɛ afoa anofanu.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol. (Sheol )
Nʼanan kɔ owu mu; nʼanammɔntutu kɔ ɔda mu tee. (Sheol )
6 Lest she should ponder the path of life, her ways wander, she knoweth not [whither].
Onsusuw ɔkwan a ɛkɔ nkwa mu ho; nʼakwan yɛ kɔntɔnkye, nanso onnim.
7 And now, children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Enti afei, me mma, muntie me; Monntwe mo ho mmfi nea meka ho.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
Ɔkwan a ɛmmɛn no no na momfa so; mommmɛn ne fi pon ano,
9 lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
anyɛ saa a, mode mo ahoɔden bɛma afoforo na mode mo mfe ama otirimɔdenfo,
10 lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and the fruits of thy toil [come] into the house of a stranger;
anyɛ saa a, ahɔho bɛfom mo ahonyade na mo brɛ de ahonya akɔ afoforo fi.
11 and thou mourn in thine end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed;
Mo nkwanna akyi, mubesi apini, bere a mo honam ne mo nipadua asa no.
12 and thou say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof!
Na moaka se, “Na mikyi ahohyɛso! Me koma ampɛ nteɛso!
13 and I have not hearkened unto the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to those that instructed me;
Manyɛ osetie amma mʼakyerɛkyerɛfo na mantie me kwankyerɛfo asɛm.
14 I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
Madu ɔsɛe ano wɔ asafo no nyinaa mu.”
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Nom nsu fi wʼankasa ahina mu, nsu a ɛteɛ fi wʼankasa abura mu.
16 Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways.
So ɛsɛ sɛ wʼasuti yiri fa mmɔnten so na wo nsuwa kokɔ ɔman aguabɔbea ana?
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
Ma ɛnyɛ wo nko ara de, a wo ne ahɔho nkyɛ da.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
Nhyira nka wʼasubura na wʼani nnye wo mmrantebere mu yere ho.
19 As a lovely hind and a graceful roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: be thou ravished continually with her love.
Ɔte sɛ ɔtwe bere dɔfo, ɔwansan nuonyamfo; ma ne nufu nsɔ wʼani daa na ne dɔ nkyekyere wo.
20 And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
Me ba, adɛn nti na woma ɔbea aguaman kyekyere wo? Adɛn nti na woda ɔbarima foforo bi yere kokom?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.
Awurade hu onipa akwan nyinaa, na ɔhwehwɛ ne nyinaa mu.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
Omumɔyɛfo nnebɔne sum no afiri; na ne bɔne ahama kyekyere no papee.
23 He shall die for want of discipline; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
Wobewu, esiane ahohyɛso a wonni nti, na wɔayera, esiane wɔn agyennyentwisɛm nti.
