< Proverbs 5 >

1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, incline thine ear to my understanding;
Ka capa, ka palunghahaih lok hae tahngaih loe, ka panoekhaih to pakuem ah;
2 that thou mayest keep reflection, and that thy lips may preserve knowledge.
to tih nahaeloe hmuen panoekhaih na tawn ueloe, na pahni mah panoekhaih to pakuem tih.
3 For the lips of the strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
Zaehaih sak koeh nongpata ih pahni loe khoitui baktiah long moe, a thuih ih lok doeh situi pongah amnae kue;
4 but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
toe anih boenghaih loe ahmuet baktiah khaa moe, haa hnetto kaom sumsen baktiah noet.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
Anih ih khoknawk loe duekhaih bangah anghum tathuk moe, a caehhaih loklam doeh hell ah akunh. (Sheol h7585)
6 Lest she should ponder the path of life, her ways wander, she knoweth not [whither].
Anih loe hinghaih loklam to poek ai, a caehhaih loklamnawk loe cak ai, loklam doeh panoek ai.
7 And now, children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
To pongah ka caanawk, ka lok hae tahngai oh; ka thuih ih lok hae angqoi o taak hmah.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
To nongpata to kangthla ah caeh o taak ah loe, a im ih thok taengah doeh caeh o hmah;
9 lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
to tih ai nahaeloe pakoeh ah na ohhaih to minawk khaeah paek ving ueloe, na hinghaih saningnawk doeh tahmenhaih tawn ai kaminawk khaeah na paek ving moeng tih;
10 lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and the fruits of thy toil [come] into the house of a stranger;
nang ih hmuenmae hoiah kalah kaminawk ih zok to koi lat ueloe, toksak hoiah na hak ih hmuennawk to minawk im ah cawn ving tih.
11 and thou mourn in thine end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed;
Na takpum hoi na ngan to qongh naah, palungset hoiah na om sut tih,
12 and thou say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof!
to naah kawbangmaw thuitaekhaih to ka hnukma moe, zoehhaih lok doeh ka palung mah patoek boeh;
13 and I have not hearkened unto the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to those that instructed me;
kai patukkungnawk ih lok to ka tahngai ai, nihcae mah patuk ih loknawk doeh ka tahngai ai.
14 I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
Kai loe amkhueng kaminawk salakah kasae kami ah ni ka oh boeh, tiah na thui tih.
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Nangmah ih tui tabu thung ih tui to nae ah loe, nangmah ih tuikhaw thung ih tui to nae ah.
16 Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways.
Na tuipuek to ahmuen kruekah long nasoe, vapui tuinawk baktiah loklam boih ah longsak ah.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
Nangmah han khue long nasoe, minawk kalah han pazet hmah.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
Na tuipuek loe tahamhoihaih om nasoe loe, na thendoeng nathuem ih zu hoiah kanawm ah khosah ah.
19 As a lovely hind and a graceful roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: be thou ravished continually with her love.
Anih loe palung koi kaom tasuk amno, koeh koi kaom tasuk baktiah om nasoe loe, anih ih tahnu mah na koehhaih to koepsak poe nasoe; ang palunghaih mah na palung to dipsak nasoe.
20 And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
Ka capa, tipongah zaehaih sak koeh nongpata to na koeh moe, tangzat zaw nongpata to na takoih loe?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.
Kami caehhaih loklamnawk loe Angraeng hmaa ah ni oh, a caehhaih loklamnawk boih Angraeng mah hnuk pae.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
Kasae kami loe a sakpazaehaih hmuen pongah aman ueloe, a zaehaih quinawk mah anih to zaeng caeng tih.
23 He shall die for want of discipline; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
Anih amthuhaih loe nung parai pongah anih loe loklam amkhraeng ving ueloe, thuitaekhaih om ai ah dueh tih.
