Proverbs 30
1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh; the prophecy uttered by the man unto Ithiel, [even] unto Ithiel and Ucal:
Estas son las palabras de Agur, hijo de Jaqué. Un oráculo. Esto es lo que dice el hombre. Dios, estoy cansado. No tengo fuerzas.
2 Truly I am more stupid than any one; and I have not a man's intelligence.
Soy tan tonto que no soy un hombre de verdad; no logro pensar como un ser humano.
3 I have neither learned wisdom, nor have I the knowledge of the Holy.
No he aprendido sabiduría; no tengo conocimiento del Santo.
4 Who hath ascended up into the heavens, and descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a mantle? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou knowest?
¿Quién ha ido al cielo y ha vuelto a la tierra? ¿Quién sostiene los vientos en la palma de sus manos? ¿Quién ha envuelto las aguas en su manto? ¿Quién ha establecido los límites de la tierra? ¿Cuál es nombre y el nombre de su hijo? ¿Estás seguro de que no lo sabes?
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Cada palabra que Dios dice ha resultado ser verdadera. Él defiende a todos los que lo buscan pidiendo protección.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
No añadas nada a sus palabras, o te criticará y quedarás como un mentiroso.
7 Two things do I ask of thee; deny me [them] not before I die:
Dios, quiero pedirte dos cosas. Por favor, no te niegues a dármelas antes de que muera.
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the bread of my daily need:
No dejes que sea falso, ayúdame a no decir mentiras. No me hagas pobre ni rico; solo dame la comida que necesito.
9 lest I be full and deny [thee], and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I be poor and steal, and outrage the name of my God.
Porque si tengo mucho dinero, podría abandonarte y decir: “¿Quién es el Señor?” y si soy pobre, podría robar y dañar la reputación de mi Dios.
10 Speak not too much about a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be held guilty.
No calumnies a un siervo ante su amo, o te maldecirá y sufrirás por ello.
11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother;
Hay quienes maldicen a sus padres y no bendicen a sus madres.
12 there is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, yet are not washed from their filthiness;
Hay quienes se ven a sí mismos como puros, pero están sucios y no se han lavado.
13 there is a generation, — how lofty are their eyes, how their eyelids are lifted up!
Hay quienes creen que son grandes y poderosos, y desprecian a otros.
14 — a generation whose teeth are swords, and their jaw-teeth knives, to devour the afflicted from off the earth, and the needy from [among] men.
Hay quienes tienen dientes como espadas, colmillos como cuchillos, listos para devorarse a los pobres de la tierra, a los necesitados de la sociedad.
15 The leech hath two daughters: Give, give. There are three [things] never satisfied; four which say not, It is enough:
La sanguijuela tiene dos hijas que gritan: “¡Dame! ¡Dame!” Hay tres cosas que nunca se satisfacen, y cuatro que nuca dicen que es suficiente:
16 — Sheol, and the barren womb; the earth which is not filled with water, and the fire which saith not, It is enough. (Sheol h7585)
La tumba, el vientre que no logra concebir, la tierra sedienta de agua, y el fuego que nunca dice “¡Basta!” (Sheol h7585)
17 The eye that mocketh at a father, and despiseth to obey a mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
Los que ridiculizan a sus padres y desprecian la obediencia a la madre, los cuervos les sacarán los ojos y serán comidos por buitres jóvenes.
18 There are three [things] too wonderful for me, and four that I know not:
Estas tres cosas son increíblemente difíciles para mi, y son cuatro las que no logro entender:
19 The way of an eagle in the heavens, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man with a maid.
La forma en que un águila se eleva en el cielo, la forma en que una serpiente se desliza sobre una roca, la forma en que un barco navega por el mar, y la forma en que un hombre y una mujer se enamoran.
20 Such is the way of an adulterous woman: she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
Así es como una mujer comete adulterio: come, se limpia la boca, y dice: “¡No he hecho nada malo!”
21 Under three [things] the earth is disquieted, and under four it cannot bear up:
Tres cosas hacen temblar a la tierra y son cuatro las que no puede soportar:
22 Under a servant when he reigneth, and a churl when he is filled with meat;
un esclavo que se vuelve rey, un tonto que come como cerdo
23 under an odious [woman] when she is married, and a handmaid when she is heir to her mistress.
una mujer insoportable que se casa, y una sirvienta ocupando el lugar de su ama.
24 There are four [things] little upon the earth, and they are exceeding wise:
Hay cuatro cosas en la tierra que son pequeñas, pero muy sabias:
25 The ants, a people not strong, yet they provide their food in the summer;
Las hormigas: no son fuertes, pero trabajan todo el verano para reservar alimento.
26 the rock-badgers are but a feeble folk, yet they make their house in the cliff;
Los damanes: que no tienen mucha fuerza, pero construyen sus casas en la roca.
27 the locusts have no king, yet they go forth all of them by bands;
Langostas: No tienen rey pero marchan en línea y organizadas.
28 thou takest hold of the lizard with the hands, yet is she in kings' palaces.
La lagartija: puedes atraparla con tus manos, pero vive en el palacio del rey.
29 There are three [things] which have a stately step, and four are comely in going:
Hay tres cosas que son gloriosas al verlas caminar, y son cuatro las que muestran dignidad al moverse:
30 The lion, mighty among beasts, which turneth not away for any;
El león, supremo entre los animales salvajes, que no le teme a nada.
31 a [horse] girt in the loins; or the he-goat; and a king, against whom none can rise up.
El estornino que revolotea, el ciervo, y el rey con su ejército.
32 If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, [lay] the hand upon thy mouth.
Si en tu necedad has estado jactándote de ti mismo, o has hecho planes para hacer algo malo, détente y pon tu mano sobre tu boca.
33 For the pressing of milk bringeth forth butter, and the pressing of the nose bringeth forth blood; and the pressing of anger bringeth forth strife.
Como la leche batida produce mantequilla, y retorcer la nariz de alguien la hace sangrar, así mismo agitar la ira causa discusiones.
