Proverbs 29
1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.
Człowiek, który czyni twardym [swój] kark mimo częstych nagan, zostanie nagle zniszczony i pozbawiony ratunku.
2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
Gdy sprawiedliwi są u władzy, lud się weseli, a gdy panują niegodziwi, lud wzdycha.
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots destroyeth [his] substance.
Kto miłuje mądrość, raduje swego ojca, a kto zadaje się z nierządnicami, trwoni majątek.
4 A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.
Król utwierdza ziemię sądem, ale kto przyjmuje dary, burzy ją.
5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
Człowiek, który pochlebia swemu bliźniemu, rozciąga sieć przed jego nogami.
6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
Grzech złego człowieka jest jego sidłem, ale sprawiedliwy śpiewa i weseli się.
7 The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
Sprawiedliwy zważa na sprawę ubogich, [a] niegodziwemu nie zależy na jej poznawaniu.
8 Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.
Szydercy prowadzą miasto w sidła, ale mądrzy odwracają gniew.
9 If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, [he] hath no rest.
Jeśli mądry człowiek spiera się z głupim, czy się gniewa, czy się śmieje, nie [ma] pokoju.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the upright care for his soul.
Krwiożercy nienawidzą prawego, ale sprawiedliwi szukają jego duszy.
11 A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise [man] keepeth it back.
Głupi ujawnia cały swój umysł, a mądry zachowuje go na później.
12 If a ruler hearken to lying words, all his servants are wicked.
Jeśli władca słucha kłamstw, to wszyscy jego słudzy są niegodziwi.
13 The indigent and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.
Ubogi i zdzierca spotykają się, a PAN obu oświeca oczy.
14 A king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
Tron króla, który sądzi ubogich według prawdy, będzie umocniony na wieki.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.
Rózga i upomnienia dają mądrość, a samowolne dziecko przynosi wstyd swojej matce.
16 When the wicked increase, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall see their fall.
Gdy niegodziwi się mnożą, to mnoży się i przestępstwo, lecz sprawiedliwi ujrzą ich upadek.
17 Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest, and shall give delight unto thy soul.
Karć swego syna, a da ci odpocząć i przyniesie rozkosz twojej duszy.
18 Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint; but happy is he that keepeth the law.
Gdy nie ma proroctwa, lud ginie, a kto przestrzega prawa, jest błogosławiony.
19 A servant is not corrected by words: he understandeth indeed, but he will not answer.
Sługi nie poprawi się słowami, bo choć rozumie, jednak nie odpowiada.
20 Hast thou seen a man hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
Widzisz człowieka, który jest pochopny w swoich słowach? Więcej nadziei dla głupca niż dla niego.
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child, shall in the end have him as a son.
Kto czule wychowuje sługę od młodości, na ostatek będzie go miał za syna.
22 An angry man exciteth contention; and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
Człowiek gniewliwy wszczyna spór, a człowiek porywczy mnoży grzechy.
23 A man's pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.
Pycha człowieka poniża go, ale pokorny w duchu dostąpi chwały.
24 Whoso shareth with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration, and declareth not.
Wspólnik złodzieja nienawidzi swojej duszy; słyszy przekleństwa, a nie wydaje [go].
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected.
Strach przed człowiekiem zastawia sidła, ale kto ufa PANU, będzie bezpieczny.
26 Many seek the ruler's face; but a man's right judgment is from Jehovah.
Wielu zabiega o względy władcy, ale sąd każdego człowieka pochodzi od PANA.
27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is of upright way is an abomination to the wicked [man].
Bezbożny budzi odrazę w sprawiedliwych, a kto postępuje uczciwie, budzi odrazę w niegodziwych.
