Proverbs 29
1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.
১যে বারবার অনুযুক্ত হয়েও ঘাড় শক্ত করে, সে হঠাৎ ভেঙে পড়বে, তার প্রতীকার হবে না।
2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
২ধার্ম্মিকেরা বাড়লে প্রজারা আনন্দ করে, কিন্তু দুষ্ট লোক কর্তৃত্ব পেলে প্রজারা শোকার্ত হয়।
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots destroyeth [his] substance.
৩যে প্রজ্ঞা ভালবাসে, সে বাবার আনন্দজনক হয়; কিন্তু যে বেশ্যাতে আসক্ত হয়, তার ধন নষ্ট হবে।
4 A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.
৪রাজা ন্যায় বিচার করে দেশ প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন; কিন্তু উপহার প্রিয় তা লন্ডভন্ড করে।
5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
৫যে ব্যক্তি নিজের প্রতিবেশীর তোষামোদ করে, সে তার পায়ের নীচে জাল পাতে।
6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
৬দুর্বৃত্তের অধর্মে ফাঁদ থাকে, কিন্তু ধার্মিক আনন্দিত হয়ে গান করে।
7 The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
৭ধার্মিক দীনহীনদের বিচার বোঝে; দুষ্ট লোক জ্ঞান বোঝে না।
8 Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.
৮নিন্দাপ্রিয়েরা নগরে আগুন লাগিয়ে দেয়; কিন্তু জ্ঞানবানেরা রাগ ফিরিয়ে দেয়।
9 If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, [he] hath no rest.
৯অজ্ঞানের সঙ্গে জ্ঞানবানের ঝগড়া হলে, সে রাগ করুক কি হাঁসুক, কিছুই শান্তি হয় না।
10 The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the upright care for his soul.
১০রক্তপাতকারীরা সিদ্ধ লোককে ঘৃণা করে; আর সরল লোকের প্রাণনাশের চেষ্টা করে।
11 A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise [man] keepeth it back.
১১নির্বোধ নিজের সব রাগ প্রকাশ করে, কিন্তু জ্ঞানী তা সম্বরণ করে রাগ কমায়।
12 If a ruler hearken to lying words, all his servants are wicked.
১২যে শাসনকর্ত্তা মিথ্যা কথায় কান দেয়, তার পরিচারকেরা সকলে দুষ্ট।
13 The indigent and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.
১৩দরিদ্র ও উপদ্রবী এক সঙ্গে মেলে; সদাপ্রভু উভয়েরই চোখ আলোকিত করেন।
14 A king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
১৪যে রাজা বিশ্বস্তভাবে দীনহীনদের বিচার করেন, তাঁর সিংহাসন চিরকাল স্থির থাকবে।
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.
১৫দন্ড ও তিরস্কার প্রজ্ঞা দেয়; কিন্তু অশাসিত বালক মায়ের লজ্জাজনক।
16 When the wicked increase, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall see their fall.
১৬দুষ্টরা বাড়লে অধর্ম্ম বাড়ে; কিন্তু ধার্মিকরা তাদের পতন দেখবে।
17 Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest, and shall give delight unto thy soul.
১৭তোমার ছেলেকে শাস্তি দাও, সে তোমাকে শান্তি দেবে, সে তোমার প্রাণকে আনন্দিত করবে।
18 Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint; but happy is he that keepeth the law.
১৮দর্শনের অভাবে প্রজারা উচ্ছৃঙ্খল হয়; কিন্তু যে ব্যবস্থা মানে, সে ধন্য হয়।
19 A servant is not corrected by words: he understandeth indeed, but he will not answer.
১৯বাক্য দিয়ে দাসের শাসন হয় না, কারণ সে বুঝলেও কথা মানবে না।
20 Hast thou seen a man hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
২০তুমি কি হটকারী লোককে দেখছ? তার থেকে বরং নির্বোধের বিষয়ে বেশী আশা আছে।
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child, shall in the end have him as a son.
২১যে দাসকে ছোট বেলা থেকে সুন্দর ভাবে প্রতিপালন করে, শেষে সেই দাস তার ছেলে হয়ে ওঠে।
22 An angry man exciteth contention; and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
২২রাগী লোক ঝগড়া সৃষ্টি করে, রাগী লোক অনেক অধর্ম্ম করে।
23 A man's pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.
২৩মানুষের অহঙ্কার তাকে নীচে নামাবে, কিন্তু কোমল হৃদয়ের লোক সম্মান পাবে।
24 Whoso shareth with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration, and declareth not.
২৪চোরের অংশীদার নিজের প্রাণকে ঘৃণা করে; সে দিব্যি করাবার কথা শোনে, কিন্তু কিছু বলে না।
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected.
২৫লোক-ভয় ফাঁদের মত; কিন্তু যে সদাপ্রভুতে বিশ্বাস করে, সে উচ্চে স্থাপিত হবে।
26 Many seek the ruler's face; but a man's right judgment is from Jehovah.
২৬অনেকে শাসনকর্ত্তার অনুগ্রহ খোঁজে; কিন্তু মানুষের বিচার সদাপ্রভু থেকেই হয়।
27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is of upright way is an abomination to the wicked [man].
২৭অন্যায়কারী ব্যক্তি ধার্ম্মিকদের ঘৃণাস্পদ; আর সরল আচরণকারী দুষ্টের ঘৃণাস্পদ।
