< Proverbs 28 >
1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth; but the righteous are bold as a lion.
Kahoih ai kami loe mi mah doeh patom ai to mah a cawnh; toe katoeng kaminawk loe kaipui baktiah misahoih o.
2 By the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; but by a man of understanding [and] of knowledge, [its] stability is prolonged.
Prae thungah zaehaih pung pongah, ukkung doeh pop; toe khopoek thaih kami hoi palungha kami hoiah ni prae to cak.
3 A poor man who oppresseth the helpless is a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
Kamtang pacaekthlaek kami loe thingthai athaisak ai khotui baktiah oh.
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.
Patukhaih lok pahnawt kami loe kahoih ai kami to thapaek, toe patukhaih lok baktiah khosah kami loe nihcae ih lok to aek.
5 Evil men understand not judgment; but they that seek Jehovah understand everything.
Kasae kami loe toenghaih to panoek ai; toe Angraeng pakrong kami loe hmuen to panoek boih.
6 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse, double in ways, though he be rich.
Kahoih ai hmuen sah angraeng pongah loe toenghaih hoi khosah mithoe to hoih kue.
7 Whoso observeth the law is a son that hath understanding; but he that is a companion of profligates bringeth shame to his father.
Patukhaih lok pazui kami loe palungha kami ah oh; toe angzoeh koeh kami hoi ampui sah kami loe ampa to mikhmai setsak.
8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance gathereth it for him that is gracious to the poor.
Katoeng ai loklam hoiah hak ih phoisa hoi hmuenmae patung mangh kami loe, kamtang tahmen thaih kami hanah ni patung pae.
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
Patukhaih lok pazui ai kami loe, anih ih lawkthuihaih doeh panuet thoh.
10 Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, shall himself fall into his own pit; but the perfect shall inherit good.
Katoeng kami loklam amkhraengsak kami loe, angmah ih tangqom thungah krah tih; toe katoeng kami loe kahoih hmuen to toep tih.
11 A rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
Long angraeng loe angmah hoi angmah to palungha kami ah poek; toe poek thaihaih katawn mithoe loe anih pongah panoek kue.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men conceal themselves.
Katoeng kami palung anghoe naah, kating ai lensawkhaih to oh; kasae kami thacak naah loe kaminawk anghawk o king.
13 He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall obtain mercy.
Angmah ih zaehaih angphat kami loe khosak hoih mak ai; toe a zaehaih taphong moe, caehtaak kami loe, Sithaw palungnathaih to hnu tih.
14 Happy is the man that feareth always; but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into evil.
Angraeng zithaih tawn poe kami loe tahamhoih; toe palungthah kami loe raihaih thungah amtim tih.
15 A roaring lion, and a ranging bear, is a wicked ruler over a poor people.
Ukkung kahoih ai loe hmawhsaeng kaipui, to tih ai boeh loe taqom baktiah oh.
16 The prince void of intelligence is also a great oppressor: he that hateth covetousness shall prolong [his] days.
Panoekthaihaih tawn ai ukkung loe pacaekthlaek kami ah oh; toe uthaih hnuma kami loe hinglung sawk tih.
17 A man laden with the blood of [any] person, fleeth to the pit: let no man stay him.
Athii palong kami loe tangqom thungah caeh tih; anih to mi mah doeh angdoe haih hmah nasoe.
18 Whoso walketh in integrity shall be saved; but he that is perverted in [his] double ways, shall fall in one [of them].
Katoeng loklam ah caeh kami loe ngancuem tih; toe lam amkhraeng kami loe amtim roep tih.
19 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless shall have poverty enough.
Lawk toksah kami loe caaknaek tawn mang tih; toe tidoeh avang ai kami hnukbang kami loe amtang tih.
20 A faithful man aboundeth with blessings; but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
Oepthok kami loe tahamhoihaih hnu tih; toe karangah angraeng koeh kami loe toenghaih hoiah toksah mak ai.
21 To have respect of persons is not good; but for a piece of bread will a man transgress.
Minawk mikhmai khet han hoih ai; kami loe takaw kae maeto hak hanah kasae hmuen to sak thaih.
22 He that hath an evil eye hasteth after wealth, and knoweth not that poverty shall come upon him.
Karangah angraeng koeh kami loe kahoih ai mik to tawnh; anih mah a nuiah amtanghaih pha tih, tito panoek ai.
23 He that rebuketh a man shall afterwards find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
Pakha hoi pakoeh kami pongah loe, minawk thuitaek kami to hnukkhuem ah pakoehhaih hak tih.
24 Whoso robbeth his father and his mother, and saith, It is no transgression, the same is the companion of a destroyer.
Ampa hoi amno ih hmuenmae to lomh ah, zaehaih ah om ai, tiah thui kami loe, amrosak kami ih ampui ah ni oh.
25 He that is puffed up in soul exciteth contention; but he that relieth upon Jehovah shall be made fat.
Amoekhaih palungthin tawn kami mah angzoehhaih to ohsak; toe Angraeng oep kami loe zok amhah tih.
26 He that confideth in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
A poekhaih angoep kami loe kamthu ni; toe palunghahaih hoiah caeh kami loe loihaih to hnu tih.
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack; but he that withdraweth his eyes shall have many a curse.
Kamtang abomh kami loe amtang mak ai; toe kamtang to hnu ai kami baktiah angsah kami loe, kasaethuihaih to hnu tih.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase.
Katoeng ai kami angraeng naah minawk mah anghawk taak; toe nihcae duek naah, katoeng kaminawk to qoeng o tahang tih.
