Proverbs 26
1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour beseemeth not a fool.
௧கோடைக்காலத்திலே உறைந்த பனியும், அறுப்புக்காலத்திலே மழையும் தகாததுபோல, மூடனுக்கு மகிமை தகாது.
2 As the sparrow for flitting about, as the swallow for flying, so a curse undeserved shall not come.
௨அடைக்கலான் குருவி அலைந்துபோவதுபோலவும், தகைவிலான் குருவி பறந்து போவதுபோலவும், காரணம் இல்லாமல் சொன்னசாபம் தங்காது.
3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of fools.
௩குதிரைக்குச் சவுக்கும், கழுதைக்குக் கடிவாளமும், மூடனுடைய முதுகுக்குப் பிரம்பும் ஏற்றது.
4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
௪மூடனுக்கு அவனுடைய மதியீனத்தின்படி மறுஉத்திரவு கொடுக்காதே; கொடுத்தால் நீயும் அவனைப்போல ஆவாய்.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.
௫மூடனுக்கு அவனுடைய மதியீனத்தின்படி மறுஉத்திரவு கொடு; கொடுக்காவிட்டால் அவன் தன்னுடைய பார்வைக்கு ஞானியாக இருப்பான்.
6 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off [his own] feet, [and] drinketh damage.
௬மூடன் கையிலே செய்தி அனுப்புகிறவன் தன்னுடைய கால்களையே வெட்டிக்கொண்டு நஷ்டத்தை அடைகிறான்.
7 The legs of the lame hang loose; so is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
௭நொண்டியின் கால்கள் குந்திக்குந்தி நடக்கும், அப்படியே மூடர்களின் வாயிலுள்ள உவமைச்சொல்லும் குந்தும்.
8 As a bag of gems in a stoneheap, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
௮மூடனுக்கு மரியாதை கொடுக்கிறவன் கவணிலே கல்லைக்கட்டுகிறவன்போல் இருப்பான்.
9 [As] a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
௯மூடன் வாயில் அகப்பட்ட பழமொழி வெறியன் கையில் அகப்பட்ட முள்.
10 A master roughly worketh every one: he both hireth the fool and hireth passers-by.
௧0பலத்தவன் அனைவரையும் நோகச்செய்து, மூடனையும் வேலைவாங்குகிறான், மீறி நடக்கிறவர்களையும் வேலைவாங்குகிறான்.
11 As a dog turneth back to its vomit, [so] a fool repeateth his folly.
௧௧நாயானது தான் கக்கினதை சாப்பிடும்படித் திரும்புவதுபோல, மூடனும் தன்னுடைய மூடத்தனத்திற்குத் திரும்புகிறான்.
12 Hast thou seen a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope of a fool than of him.
௧௨தன்னுடைய பார்வைக்கு ஞானியாக இருப்பவனைக் கண்டால், அவனைவிட மூடனைக்குறித்து அதிக நம்பிக்கையாக இருக்கலாம்.
13 The sluggard saith, There is a fierce lion in the way; a lion is in the midst of the streets!
௧௩வழியிலே சிங்கம் இருக்கும், நடுவீதியிலே சிங்கம் இருக்கும் என்று சோம்பேறி சொல்லுவான்.
14 [As] the door turneth upon its hinges, so the sluggard upon his bed.
௧௪கதவு கீல்முளையில் ஆடுகிறதுபோல, சோம்பேறியும் படுக்கையில் ஆடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.
15 The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish: it wearieth him to bring it again to his mouth.
௧௫சோம்பேறி தன்னுடைய கையைக் கலத்திலே வைத்து அதைத் தன்னுடைய வாய்க்குத் திரும்ப எடுக்க வருத்தப்படுகிறான்.
16 A sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven [men] that answer discreetly.
௧௬புத்தியுள்ள மறுஉத்திரவு சொல்லத்தகும் ஏழுபேரைவிட சோம்பேறி தன் பார்வைக்கு அதிக ஞானமுள்ளவன்.
17 He that passing by vexeth himself with strife belonging not to him, is [like] one that taketh a dog by the ears.
௧௭வழியிலே போகும்போது தனக்கு சம்மந்தமில்லாத வழக்கில் தலையிடுகிறவன் நாயைக் காதைப் பிடித்து இழுக்கிறவனைப்போல இருக்கிறான்.
18 As a madman who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,
௧௮கொள்ளிகளையும் அம்புகளையும் சாவுக்கேதுவானவைகளையும் எறிகிற பைத்தியக்காரன் எப்படியிருக்கிறானோ,
19 so is a man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am I not in sport?
௧௯அப்படியே, தன்னோடு இருந்தவனை வஞ்சித்து: நான் விளையாட்டுக்கல்லவோ செய்தேன் என்று சொல்லுகிற மனிதனும் இருக்கிறான்.
20 Where no wood is, the fire goeth out; and where there is no talebearer, the contention ceaseth.
௨0விறகில்லாமல் நெருப்பு அணையும்; கோள்சொல்லுகிறவன் இல்லாமல் சண்டை அடங்கும்.
21 [As] coals for hot coals, and wood for fire, so is a contentious man to inflame strife.
௨௧கரிகள் தழலுக்கும், விறகு நெருப்புக்கும் ஏதுவானதுபோல, கோபக்காரன் சண்டைகளை மூட்டுகிறதற்கு ஏதுவானவன்.
22 The words of a talebearer are as dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
௨௨கோள்காரனுடைய வார்த்தைகள் விளையாட்டுப்போல இருக்கும்; ஆனாலும் அவைகள் உள்ளத்திற்குள் குத்தும்.
23 Ardent lips, and a wicked heart, are [as] an earthen vessel overlaid with silver dross.
௨௩நேச அனலைக் காண்பிக்கிற உதடுகளோடு கூடிய தீயநெஞ்சம் வெள்ளிப்பூச்சு பூசிய ஓட்டைப்போல இருக்கும்.
24 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, but he layeth up deceit within him:
௨௪பகைஞன் தன்னுடைய உள்ளத்தில் கபடத்தை மறைத்து, தன்னுடைய உதடுகளினால் சூதுபேசுகிறான்.
25 when his voice is gracious, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart.
௨௫அவன் தாழ்மையாக பேசினாலும் அவனை நம்பாதே; அவனுடைய இருதயத்தில் ஏழு அருவருப்புகள் உண்டு.
26 Though [his] hatred is covered by dissimulation, his wickedness shall be made manifest in the congregation.
௨௬பகையை வஞ்சகமாக மறைத்து வைக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவனுடைய பொல்லாங்கு மகா சபையிலே வெளிப்படுத்தப்படும்.
27 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein; and he that rolleth a stone, it shall return upon him.
௨௭படுகுழியை வெட்டுகிறவன் தானே அதில் விழுவான்; கல்லைப் புரட்டுகிறவன்மேல் அந்தக் கல் திரும்ப விழும்.
28 A lying tongue hateth those that are injured by it, and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
௨௮பொய்நாவு தன்னால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களைப் பகைக்கும்; முகஸ்துதி பேசும் வாய் அழிவை உண்டாக்கும்.
