Proverbs 21
1 The king's heart in the hand of Jehovah is [as] brooks of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കൈയിലെ നീർച്ചാലാണ്; തനിക്കിഷ്ടമുള്ള ദിക്കിലേക്ക് അവിടന്ന് അതിനെ തിരിച്ചുവിടുന്നു.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; but Jehovah weigheth the hearts.
ഓരോ മനുഷ്യരും തങ്ങളുടെ വഴികൾ ശരിയാണ് എന്നു ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ യഹോവ ഹൃദയം തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.
3 To exercise justice and judgment is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.
ന്യായവും നീതിയുക്തവുമായ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളാണ് യഹോവയ്ക്കു യാഗാർപ്പണത്തെക്കാൾ കൂടുതൽ സ്വീകാര്യം.
4 Lofty eyes, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
അഹന്തനിറഞ്ഞ കണ്ണും നിഗളമുള്ള ഹൃദയവും— ദുഷ്ടരുടെ ഉഴുതുമറിക്കാത്ത നിലവും—പാപം ഉൽപ്പാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
5 The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty, only to want.
ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ പദ്ധതികൾ ലാഭത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നു, ധൃതികാട്ടുന്നത് ദാരിദ്ര്യത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കും, നിശ്ചയം.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting breath of them that seek death.
വ്യാജനാവുകൊണ്ട് കെട്ടിപ്പൊക്കിയ സൗഭാഗ്യങ്ങളെല്ലാം ക്ഷണികമായ നീരാവിയും മരണക്കെണിയുമാണ്.
7 The devastation of the wicked sweepeth them away, because they refuse to do what is right.
ദുഷ്ടരുടെ അതിക്രമം അവരെ ദൂരത്തേക്കു വലിച്ചിഴയ്ക്കും, കാരണം നീതിനിഷ്ഠമായവ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ അവർക്കു മനസ്സില്ല.
8 Very crooked is the way of a guilty man; but as for the pure, his work is upright.
അധർമം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരുടെ മാർഗം വക്രതയുള്ളതാണ്, എന്നാൽ നിഷ്കളങ്കരുടെ പ്രവർത്തനമോ, നേരുള്ളത്.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a contentious woman, and a house in common.
കലഹക്കാരിയായ ഭാര്യയോടൊത്ത് വീടിനുള്ളിൽ കഴിയുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ മേൽപ്പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നതു നല്ലത്.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
ദുഷ്ടർ തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ ആർത്തികാട്ടുന്നു; അവരുടെ അയൽവാസിക്ക് അവരിൽനിന്നു യാതൊരുവിധ കരുണയും ലഭിക്കുന്നില്ല.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise; and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
പരിഹാസി ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ, ലളിതമാനസർ ജ്ഞാനം നേടുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിക്കുക, അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനം ആർജിക്കുന്നു.
12 One that is righteous wisely considereth the house of the wicked: he overthroweth the wicked to [their] ruin.
നീതിമാനായവൻ ദുഷ്ടരുടെ ഭവനത്തെ നിരീക്ഷിക്കുകയും ദുഷ്ടരെ ദുരന്തത്തിലേക്കു തള്ളിയിടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also himself shall cry, and shall not be heard.
ദരിദ്രരുടെ നിലവിളിക്കുനേരേ ചെവിയടച്ചുകളയുന്നവരുടെ രോദനത്തിനും ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കുകയില്ല.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger; and a present in the bosom, vehement fury.
രഹസ്യത്തിൽ കൈമാറുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെ ശാന്തമാക്കുന്നു; വസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന കോഴ ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും.
15 It is joy to a righteous [man] to do what is right; but it is ruin for the workers of iniquity.
നീതി നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നത് നീതിനിഷ്ഠർക്ക് ആനന്ദംനൽകുന്നു, എന്നാൽ നീചർക്ക് അതു നടുക്കവും.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of wisdom shall abide in the congregation of the dead.
വിവേകപാതയിൽനിന്ന് വ്യതിചലിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യർ മരിച്ചവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ വിശ്രമത്തിനായി വന്നുചേരുന്നു.
17 He that loveth mirth shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
സുഖലോലുപത ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർ ദരിദ്രരായിത്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും സുഗന്ധതൈലവും ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർ ഒരിക്കലും സമ്പന്നരാകുകയില്ല.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and a treacherous [man] in the stead of the upright.
ദുഷ്ടർ നീതിനിഷ്ഠർക്കു മോചനദ്രവ്യമായിത്തീരും; വഞ്ചകർ പരമാർഥിക്കും.
19 It is better to dwell in a desert land. than with a contentious and irritable woman.
കലഹക്കാരിയും മുൻകോപിയുമായ ഭാര്യയോടൊപ്പം ജീവിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ, മരുഭൂമിയിൽ കഴിയുന്നതാണ് ഉത്തമം.
20 There is costly store and oil in the dwelling of a wise [man]; but a foolish man swalloweth it up.
ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ ഭവനത്തിൽ വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ട്, എന്നാൽ ഭോഷർ തങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയുന്നു.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
നീതിയും സ്നേഹവും പിൻതുടരുന്നവർ ജീവനും നീതിയും ബഹുമാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.
22 A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
ജ്ഞാനിക്ക് ശക്തന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണം ആക്രമിക്കാൻ കഴിയും; അവരുടെ ആശ്രയമായിരുന്ന കോട്ട ഇടിച്ചുനിരത്താനും.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
സ്വന്തം നാവും സ്വന്തം വായും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർ ദുരന്തങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ അകന്നുനിൽക്കുന്നു.
24 Proud, arrogant, scorner is his name who dealeth in proud wrath.
അഹങ്കാരിയും ധിക്കാരിയുമായ മനുഷ്യൻ—അയാൾക്കു “പരിഹാസി” എന്നു പേര്— മഹാഗർവത്തോടെ പെരുമാറുന്നു.
25 The desire of the sluggard killeth him; for his hands refuse to work:
അലസരുടെ അഭിലാഷം അവരെ മരണത്തിന് ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു, കാരണം അവരുടെ കൈകൾ അധ്വാനം നിരസിക്കുന്നു.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long; but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
ദിവസംമുഴുവനും അയാൾ അത്യാർത്തിയോടെ കഴിയുന്നു. എന്നാൽ നീതിനിഷ്ഠരോ, ഒന്നും പിടിച്ചുവെക്കാതെ ദാനംചെയ്യുന്നു.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more when they bring it with a wicked purpose!
ദുഷ്ടരുടെ യാഗാർപ്പണം നിന്ദ്യമാണ്— ദുഷ്ടലാക്കോടെയാണ് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതെങ്കിൽ എത്രയധികം!
28 A lying witness shall perish; and a man that heareth shall speak constantly.
കള്ളസാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും, എന്നാൽ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേൾക്കുന്നവരുടെ വാക്കുകൾ നിരന്തരം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെടും.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face; but as for the upright, he establisheth his way.
ദുഷ്ടർ തങ്ങളുടെ മുഖത്ത് ധൈര്യം പ്രകടമാക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ തങ്ങളുടെ വഴികൾ ആലോചിച്ചുറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
30 There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel against Jehovah.
യഹോവയ്ക്കെതിരേ നിൽക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്ന യാതൊരുവിധ ജ്ഞാനമോ ഉൾക്കാഴ്ചയോ പദ്ധതികളോ ഇല്ല.
31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but safety is of Jehovah.
യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിനായി കുതിരയെ സജ്ജമാക്കി നിർത്തുന്നു, എന്നാൽ വിജയത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം യഹോവയാകുന്നു.
