< Proverbs 21 >
1 The king's heart in the hand of Jehovah is [as] brooks of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
Omutima gwa kabaka guli ng’amazzi agakulukutira mu mukono gwa Mukama, era agukyusiza gy’ayagala yonna.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; but Jehovah weigheth the hearts.
Buli kkubo lya muntu liba ng’ettuufu mu maaso ge, naye Mukama apima omutima.
3 To exercise justice and judgment is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.
Okukola ebituufu n’eby’amazima kisanyusa Mukama okusinga ssaddaaka.
4 Lofty eyes, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
Amaaso ageegulumiza, n’omutima ogw’amalala, ye ttabaaza y’ababi, era ebyo kwonoona.
5 The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty, only to want.
Enteekateeka z’omunyiikivu zivaamu magoba meereere, naye okwanguyiriza okutalina nteekateeka kuvaamu bwavu.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting breath of them that seek death.
Okufuna obugagga n’olulimi olulimba, mpewo buwewo etwalibwa eruuyi n’eruuyi era mutego gwa kufa.
7 The devastation of the wicked sweepeth them away, because they refuse to do what is right.
Obukambwe bw’ababi bulibamalawo, kubanga bagaana okukola eby’ensonga.
8 Very crooked is the way of a guilty man; but as for the pure, his work is upright.
Ekkubo ly’abazza emisango liba kyamu, naye ery’abataliiko musango liba golokofu.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a contentious woman, and a house in common.
Okusula ku kasolya k’ennyumba, kisinga okubeera mu nnyumba n’omukazi omuyombi.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
Emmeeme y’omubi yeegomba okukola ebibi; talaga muliraanwa we kisa n’akatono.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise; and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
Omukudaazi bw’abonerezebwa, atalina magezi agafuna; n’ow’amagezi bw’ayigirizibwa afuna okutegeera.
12 One that is righteous wisely considereth the house of the wicked: he overthroweth the wicked to [their] ruin.
Katonda alaba ebifa mu nnyumba y’omubi, era abakozi b’ebibi abazikkiririza ddala.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also himself shall cry, and shall not be heard.
Oyo aziba amatu ge eri okulaajana kw’omwavu, naye alikoowoola nga talina amwanukula.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger; and a present in the bosom, vehement fury.
Ekirabo ekigabire mu kyama kikakkanya obusungu obungi, n’enguzi ebikiddwa mu munagiro eggyawo ekiruyi ekingi.
15 It is joy to a righteous [man] to do what is right; but it is ruin for the workers of iniquity.
Ensonga bwe zisalibwa mu bwenkanya, lye ssanyu eri abatuukirivu, naye kiba kyekango eri abakozi b’ebibi.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of wisdom shall abide in the congregation of the dead.
Omuntu awaba okuva mu kkubo ly’okutegeera, agukira mu bafu.
17 He that loveth mirth shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
Aganza eby’amasanyu anaabanga mwavu, n’oyo ayagala omwenge n’amafuta taligaggawala.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and a treacherous [man] in the stead of the upright.
Abakozi b’ebibi batuukibwako emitawaana egyandigudde ku balungi, n’ekyandituuse ku b’amazima kituuka ku batali beesigwa.
19 It is better to dwell in a desert land. than with a contentious and irritable woman.
Okubeera mu ddungu, kisinga okubeera n’omukazi omuyombi anyiiganyiiga.
20 There is costly store and oil in the dwelling of a wise [man]; but a foolish man swalloweth it up.
Mu nnyumba y’omutuukirivu mubaamu eby’obugagga eby’omuwendo, naye omusirusiru ebibye byonna abyonoona.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
Agoberera obutuukirivu n’ekisa, alibeera n’obulamu obukulaakulana n’ekitiibwa.
22 A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
Omuntu ow’amagezi alumba ekibuga eky’abazira nnamige, era n’asesebbula enfo yaabwe gye beesiga.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Afuga akamwa ke n’olulimi lwe, yeewoonya emitawaana.
24 Proud, arrogant, scorner is his name who dealeth in proud wrath.
“Mukudaazi,” lye linnya ly’ab’amalala abeeraga, abeetwalira mu kwemanya okw’ekitalo mwe batambulira.
25 The desire of the sluggard killeth him; for his hands refuse to work:
Okwetaaga kw’omugayaavu lwe luliba olumbe lwe, kubanga emikono gye tegyagala kukola.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long; but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
Olunaku lwonna aba yeegomba kweyongezaako, naye omutuukirivu agaba awatali kwebalira.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more when they bring it with a wicked purpose!
Ssaddaaka y’omubi ya muzizo, na ddala bw’agireeta ng’alina ekigendererwa ekitali kirungi.
28 A lying witness shall perish; and a man that heareth shall speak constantly.
Omujulizi ow’obulimba alizikirira, naye ekigambo ky’oyo ayogera eby’amazima kiribeerera emirembe gyonna.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face; but as for the upright, he establisheth his way.
Omuntu omubi yeekazaakaza, naye omuntu ow’amazima yeegendereza amakubo ge.
30 There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel against Jehovah.
Tewali magezi, newaakubadde okutegeera, wadde ebiteeso ebiyinza okulemesa Mukama.
31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but safety is of Jehovah.
Embalaasi etegekerwa olunaku olw’olutalo, naye obuwanguzi buva eri Mukama.
