Proverbs 2
1 My son, if thou receivest my words, and layest up my commandments with thee,
Hijo mío, si recibes mis palabras, y guardad mis mandamientos en vuestro interior,
2 so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom [and] thou apply thy heart to understanding;
para que vuelvas tu oído a la sabiduría, y aplica tu corazón a la comprensión;
3 yea, if thou criest after discernment [and] liftest up thy voice to understanding;
sí, si se llama al discernimiento, y levanta tu voz para que te entiendan;
4 if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hidden treasures:
si la buscas como plata, y buscarla como a los tesoros escondidos;
5 then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, and find the knowledge of God.
entonces entenderás el temor de Yahvé, y encontrar el conocimiento de Dios.
6 For Jehovah giveth wisdom; out of his mouth [come] knowledge and understanding.
Porque Yahvé da sabiduría. De su boca sale el conocimiento y la comprensión.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [he] is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
Él acumula la sana sabiduría para los rectos. Es un escudo para los que caminan con integridad,
8 guarding the paths of just judgment and keeping the way of his godly ones.
para que guarde los caminos de la justicia, y preservar el camino de sus santos.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment and equity: every good path.
Entonces entenderás la rectitud y la justicia, la equidad y todo buen camino.
10 When wisdom entereth into thy heart and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul,
Porque la sabiduría entrará en tu corazón. El conocimiento será agradable para tu alma.
11 discretion shall keep thee, understanding shall preserve thee:
La discreción velará por ti. La comprensión te mantendrá,
12 To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the man that speaketh froward things;
para librarte del camino del mal, de los hombres que hablan cosas perversas,
13 [from those] who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
que abandonan los caminos de la rectitud, para andar por los caminos de la oscuridad,
14 who rejoice to do evil, [and] delight in the frowardness of evil;
que se alegran de hacer el mal, y se deleitan en la perversidad del mal,
15 whose paths are crooked, and who are perverted in their course:
que son torcidos en sus caminos, y descarriados en sus caminos,
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, from the stranger who flattereth with her words;
para librarte de la mujer extraña, incluso de la extranjera que halaga con sus palabras,
17 who forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God;
que abandona al amigo de su juventud, y olvida el pacto de su Dios;
18 — for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead;
por su casa lleva a la muerte, sus caminos a los espíritus difuntos.
19 none that go unto her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life:
Ninguno de los que van a ella regresa, ni alcanzan los caminos de la vida.
20 — that thou mayest walk in the way of the good, and keep the paths of the righteous.
Por lo tanto, camina por el camino de los hombres buenos, y guarda los caminos de los justos.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it;
Porque los rectos habitarán la tierra. Lo perfecto permanecerá en él.
22 but the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful shall be plucked up out of it.
Pero los malvados serán eliminados de la tierra. Los traidores serán desarraigados de ella.
