Proverbs 2
1 My son, if thou receivest my words, and layest up my commandments with thee,
Hijo mío, si aceptas mi palabra y valoras mis instrucciones;
2 so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom [and] thou apply thy heart to understanding;
si prestas atención a la sabiduría y procuras entender;
3 yea, if thou criest after discernment [and] liftest up thy voice to understanding;
si clamas pidiendo inteligencia y gritas pidiendo ayuda para comprender;
4 if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hidden treasures:
si la buscas como si fuera plata, y la persigues como si fuera un tesoro oculto,
5 then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, and find the knowledge of God.
entonces entenderás cómo debes relacionarte con el Señor y conocerás verdaderamente a Dios.
6 For Jehovah giveth wisdom; out of his mouth [come] knowledge and understanding.
El Señor es la fuente de la sabiduría. Su palabra proporciona el conocimiento y la razón.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [he] is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
Él da sano juicio a los que viven en rectitud, y defiende a los que tienen buen discernimiento.
8 guarding the paths of just judgment and keeping the way of his godly ones.
Él sostiene a los que actúan con justicia y protege a los que confían en él.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment and equity: every good path.
Entonces podrás reconocer lo que es recto y justo, y todo lo bueno, así como la forma en que debes vivir.
10 When wisdom entereth into thy heart and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul,
Porque la sabiduría inundará tu mente, y el conocimiento te hará feliz.
11 discretion shall keep thee, understanding shall preserve thee:
Las buenas decisiones te mantendrán por el buen camino, y estarás a salvo si piensas usando la razón.
12 To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the man that speaketh froward things;
Esto te guardará de los caminos del mal, de los hombres mentirosos
13 [from those] who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
que se alejan del camino recto para andar en caminos de oscuridad.
14 who rejoice to do evil, [and] delight in the frowardness of evil;
Ellos son felices haciendo el mal, y les gusta la perversión.
15 whose paths are crooked, and who are perverted in their course:
Viven vidas extraviadas, cometiendo actos engañosos.
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, from the stranger who flattereth with her words;
También te guardará de la mujer que actúa con inmoralidad, de mujeres que tal como una prostituta tratan de seducirte con elogios.
17 who forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God;
Una mujer que ha abandonado al hombre con el que se casó en su juventud, y ha olvidado las promesas que hizo ante Dios.
18 — for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead;
Lo que sucede en su casa conduce a la muerte, y seguir sus caminos te llevará a la tumba.
19 none that go unto her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life:
Ninguno que va donde ella regresa, pues nunca más logran encontrar el camino de regreso a la vida.
20 — that thou mayest walk in the way of the good, and keep the paths of the righteous.
Así que tú sigue el camino del bien, y asegúrate de ir por los senderos de quienes hacen lo recto.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it;
Porque solo los rectos habitarán la tierra. Solo los honestos permanecerán en ella.
22 but the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful shall be plucked up out of it.
Pero los malvados serán expulsados de ella, y los infieles serán arrancados de raíz.
