Proverbs 19
1 Better is a poor [man] that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
Mejor es ser pobre y honesto, que un tonto y mentiroso.
2 Also that a person be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet maketh false steps.
No es bueno ser de los que no piensan. Si actúas con afán, cometerás errores.
3 The folly of man distorteth his way, and his heart is irritated against Jehovah.
La gente destruye su vida por causa de su propia estupidez, y se enojan con el Señor.
4 Wealth addeth many friends; but the poor is separated from his friend.
Si eres rico, tendrás muchos amigos; pero si eres pobre, perderás todos los amigos que tenías.
5 A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
El testigo falso será castigado; los mentirosos no podrán escaparse con sus mentiras.
6 Many court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.
Muchos piden favores a personas importantes, y todos son amigos del que es generoso.
7 All the brethren of a poor [man] hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him: he pursueth [them] with words, — they are not [to be found].
Si los familiares del pobre no lo pueden soportar, ¡cuanto menos lo evitarán sus amigos! El tratará de hablarles, pero ellos no lo escucharán.
8 He that getteth sense loveth his own soul; he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
Si te vuelves sabio, tendrás amor propio; si aprendes a tener buen juicio, serás exitoso.
9 A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
El testigo falso será castigado, y los mentirosos perecerán.
10 Good living beseemeth not a fool; how much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
No es correcto que los tontos vivan en medio de lujos, e incluso es peor que un esclavo gobierne por encima de los líderes.
11 The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
Si tienes inteligencia, serás lento para enojarte. Serás respetado al perdonar ofensas.
12 The king's displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
Cuando un rey se enoja, se escucha como un león rugiente. Pero su bondad es tan suave como el rocío sobre la hierba.
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Un hijo tonto trae miseria a su padre, y una esposa conflictiva es como una gotera que nunca se seca.
14 House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.
De tu padre heredarás una casa y riquezas; pero una esposa prudente es un regalo de Dios.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Los perezosos se quedan dormidos con frecuencia; pero su holgazanería indica que están hambrientos.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; he that is careless of his ways shall die.
Guarda los mandamientos y vivirás. Recházalos y morirás.
17 He that is gracious to the poor lendeth unto Jehovah; and what he hath bestowed will he repay unto him.
Si eres bondadoso con el pobre, estarás prestándole al Señor, y él te pagará con creces por lo que has hecho.
18 Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; but set not thy soul upon killing him.
Disciplina a tu hijo cuando aún hay tiempo, pero no lo mates.
19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment; for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.
Los que se enojan con facilidad tienen que pagar el precio por ello. Si les ayudas, tendrás que hacerlo de nuevo.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
Escucha el consejo y acepta la instrucción, para que con el tiempo te vuelvas sabio.
21 Many are the thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah, that doth stand.
Los seres humanos hacen planes en sus mentes, pero la decisión final es del Señor.
22 The charm of a man is his kindness; and a poor [man] is better than a liar.
El deseo más profundo de todas las personas es el amor sincero. Mejor es ser pobre que un mentiroso.
23 The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life, and he [that hath it] shall rest satisfied without being visited with evil.
Honrar al Señor es vida, y podrás descansar confiado, libre de todo mal.
24 A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it to his mouth again.
Los perezosos llevan su mano al plato, y ni siquiera la levantan para poner la comida en su boca.
25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware; reprove the intelligent, and he will understand knowledge.
Si castigas al burlador, puede que estés instruyendo a un inmaduro. Corrige al sabio, y será más sabio.
26 He that ruineth [his] father and chaseth away [his] mother is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
Un hijo que abusa de su padre y ahuyenta a su madre, acarrea vergüenza y desgracia.
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction which causeth to stray from the words of knowledge.
Hijo mío, cuando dejes de escuchar mi instrucción pronto dejarás de seguir la sabiduría.
28 A witness of Belial scorneth judgment, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.
El testigo deshonesto se burla de la justicia, y el malvado se sacia de maldad.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of the foolish.
El castigo está preparado para los burladores, y el azote para las espaldas de los tontos.
