Proverbs 18
1 He that separateth himself seeketh [his] pleasure, he is vehement against all sound wisdom.
Busca coisas desejaveis aquelle que se separa e se entremette em toda a sabedoria.
2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may reveal itself.
Não toma prazer o tolo na intelligencia, senão em que se descubra o seu coração.
3 When the wicked cometh, there cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
Vindo o impio, vem tambem o desprezo, e com a vergonha a ignominia.
4 The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, [and] the fountain of wisdom is a gushing brook.
Aguas profundas são as palavras da bocca do homem, e ribeiro trasbordante é a fonte da sabedoria.
5 It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to wrong the righteous in judgment.
Não é bom ter respeito á pessoa do impio para derribar o justo em juizo.
6 A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for stripes.
Os beiços do tolo entram na contenda, e a sua bocca por acoites brada.
7 A fool's mouth is destruction to him, and his lips are a snare to his soul.
A bocca do tolo é a sua propria destruição, e os seus labios um laço para a sua alma.
8 The words of a talebearer are as dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
As palavras do assoprador são como doces bocados; e ellas descem ao intimo do ventre.
9 He also who is indolent in his work is brother of the destroyer.
Tambem o negligente na sua obra é irmão do desperdiçador.
10 The name of Jehovah is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Torre forte é o nome do Senhor; a elle correrá o justo, e estará em alto retiro.
11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own imagination.
A fazenda do rico é a cidade da sua fortaleza, e como um muro alto na sua imaginação.
12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty; and before honour [goeth] humility.
Antes de ser quebrantado eleva-se o coração do homem; e diante da honra vae a humildade.
13 He that giveth answer before he heareth, it is folly and shame unto him.
O que responde antes d'ouvir, estulticia lhe é, e vergonha.
14 The spirit of a man sustaineth his infirmity; but a broken spirit who can bear?
O espirito do homem sosterá a sua enfermidade, mas ao espirito abatido quem levantará?
15 The heart of an intelligent [man] getteth knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
O coração do entendido adquire o conhecimento, e o ouvido dos sabios busca o conhecimento.
16 A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
O presente do homem lhe alarga o caminho e o leva diante dos grandes.
17 He that is first in his own cause [seemeth] just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
O que primeiro começa o seu pleito justo é; porém vem o seu companheiro, e o examina.
18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
A sorte faz cessar os pleitos, e faz separação entre os poderosos.
19 A brother offended is [harder to be won] than a strong city; and contentions are as the bars of a palace.
O irmão offendido é mais difficil de conquistar do que uma cidade forte; e as contendas são como os ferrolhos d'um palacio.
20 A man's belly is satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; with the increase of his lips is he satisfied.
Do fructo da bocca de cada um se fartará o seu ventre: dos renovos dos seus labios se fartará.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
A morte e a vida estão no poder da lingua; e aquelle que a ama comerá do seu fructo.
22 Whoso hath found a wife hath found a good thing, and hath obtained favour from Jehovah.
O que acha mulher acha o bem e alcança a benevolencia do Senhor.
23 He that is poor speaketh with supplications, but the rich answereth roughly.
O pobre falla com rogos, mas o rico responde com durezas.
24 A man of [many] friends will come to ruin but there is a friend [that] sticketh closer than a brother.
O homem que tem amigos haja-se amigavelmente, e ha amigo mais chegado do que um irmão.
