Proverbs 14
1 The wisdom of women buildeth their house; but folly plucketh it down with her hands.
Durch weise Weiber wird das Haus erbauet; eine Närrin aber zerbricht es mit ihrem Tun.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; but he that is perverted in his ways despiseth him.
Wer den HERRN fürchtet, der gehet auf rechter Bahn; wer ihn aber verachtet, der weicht aus seinem Wege.
3 In the fool's mouth is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
Narren reden tyrannisch; aber die Weisen bewahren ihren Mund.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Wo nicht Ochsen sind, da ist die Krippe rein; aber wo der Ochse geschäftig ist, da ist viel Einkommens.
5 A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness uttereth lies.
Ein treuer Zeuge lüget nicht; aber ein falscher Zeuge redet türstiglich Lügen.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and there is none [for him]; but knowledge is easy unto the intelligent.
Der Spötter suchet Weisheit und findet sie nicht; aber dem Verständigen ist die Erkenntnis leicht.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, in whom thou perceivest not the lips of knowledge.
Gehe von dem Narren; denn du lernest nichts von ihm.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way; but the folly of the foolish is deceit.
Das ist des Klugen Weisheit, daß er auf seinen Weg merkt; aber das ist der Narren Torheit, daß es eitel Trug mit ihnen ist.
9 Fools make a mock at trespass; but for the upright there is favour.
Die Narren treiben das Gespött mit der Sünde; aber die Frommen haben Lust an den Frommen.
10 The heart knoweth its own bitterness, and a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.
Wenn das Herz traurig ist, so hilft keine äußerliche Freude.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
Das Haus der Gottlosen wird vertilget; aber die Hütte der Frommen wird grünen.
12 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death.
Es gefällt manchem ein Weg wohl; aber endlich bringt er ihn zum Tode.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is sadness.
Nach dem Lachen kommt Trauern, und nach der Freude kommt Leid.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man from what is in himself.
Einem losen Menschen wird's gehen, wie er handelt; aber ein Frommer wird über ihn sein.
15 The simple believeth every word; but the prudent [man] heedeth his going.
Ein Alberner glaubt alles; aber ein Witziger merkt auf seinen Gang.
16 A wise [man] feareth and departeth from evil; but the foolish is overbearing and confident.
Ein Weiser fürchtet sich und meidet das Arge; ein Narr aber fährt hindurch türstiglich.
17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, and a man of mischievous devices is hated.
Ein Ungeduldiger tut närrisch; aber ein Bedächtiger hasset es.
18 The simple inherit folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Die Albernen erben Narrheit; aber es ist der Witzigen Krone, vorsichtiglich handeln.
19 The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous [man].
Die Bösen müssen sich bücken vor den Guten und die Gottlosen in den Toren des Gerechten.
20 He that is poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
Einen Armen hassen auch seine Nächsten; aber die Reichen haben viel Freunde.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious to the afflicted, happy is he.
Der Sünder verachtet seinen Nächsten; aber wohl dem, der sich der Elenden erbarmet!
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but loving-kindness and truth are for those that devise good.
Die mit bösen Ränken umgehen, werden fehlen; die aber Gutes denken, denen wird Treue und Güte widerfahren.
23 In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to want.
Wo man arbeitet, da ist genug; wo man aber mit Worten umgeht, da ist Mangel.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches; the folly of the foolish is folly.
Den Weisen ist ihr Reichtum eine Krone; aber die Torheit der Narren bleibt Torheit.
25 A true witness delivereth souls; but deceit uttereth lies.
Ein treuer Zeuge errettet das Leben; aber ein falscher Zeuge betrügt.
26 In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Wer den HERRN fürchtet, der hat eine sichere Festung, und seine Kinder werden auch beschirmet.
27 The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.
Die Furcht des HERRN ist eine Quelle des Lebens, daß man meide die Stricke des Todes.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the lack of people is the ruin of a prince.
Wo ein König viel Volks hat, das ist seine HERRLIchkeit; wo aber, wenig Volks ist, das macht einen HERRN blöde.
29 He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Wer geduldig ist, der ist weise; wer aber ungeduldig ist, der offenbart seine Torheit.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh; but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Ein gütiges Herz ist des Leibes Leben; aber Neid ist Eiter in Beinen.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; but he that honoureth Him is gracious to the needy.
Wer dem Geringen Gewalt tut, der lästert desselben Schöpfer; aber wer sich des Armen erbarmet, der ehret Gott,
32 The wicked is driven away by his evil-doing; but the righteous trusteth, [even] in his death.
Der Gottlose bestehet nicht in seinem Unglück; aber der Gerechte ist auch in seinem Tode getrost.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of the intelligent [man]; but that which is in the foolish maketh itself known.
Im Herzen des Verständigen ruhet Weisheit und wird offenbar unter den Narren.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to peoples.
Gerechtigkeit erhöhet ein Volk; aber die Sünde ist der Leute Verderben.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant; but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
Ein kluger Knecht gefällt dem Könige wohl; aber einem schändlichen Knechte ist er feind.
