Proverbs 12

1 Whoso loveth discipline loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

۱ هر‌که تادیب را دوست می‌دارد معرفت را دوست می‌دارد، اما هر‌که از تنبیه نفرت کند وحشی است.

2 A good [man] obtaineth favour of Jehovah; but a man of mischievous devices will he condemn.

۲ مرد نیکو رضامندی خداوند را تحصیل می‌نماید، اما او صاحب تدبیر فاسد را ملزم خواهد ساخت.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

۳ انسان از بدی استوار نمی شود، اما ریشه عادلان جنبش نخواهد خورد.

4 A woman of worth is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

۴ زن صالحه تاج شوهر خود می‌باشد، اما زنی که خجل سازد مثل پوسیدگی در استخوانهایش می‌باشد.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

۵ فکرهای عادلان انصاف است، اما تدابیرشریران فریب است.

6 The words of the wicked are a lying-in-wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

۶ سخنان شریران برای خون در کمین است، اما دهان راستان ایشان را رهایی می‌دهد.

7 Overthrow the wicked, and they are no [more]; but the house of the righteous shall stand.

۷ شریران واژگون شده، نیست می‌شوند، اماخانه عادلان برقرار می‌ماند.

8 A man is commended according to his wisdom; but he that is of a perverted heart shall be despised.

۸ انسان برحسب عقلش ممدوح می‌شود، اماکج دلان خجل خواهند گشت.

9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

۹ کسی‌که حقیر باشد و خادم داشته باشد، بهتراست از کسی‌که خویشتن را برافرازد و محتاج نان باشد.

10 A righteous man is concerned for the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

۱۰ مرد عادل برای جان حیوان خود تفکرمی کند، اما رحمتهای شریران ستم کیشی است.

11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless is void of understanding.

۱۱ کسی‌که زمین خود را زرع کند از نان سیرخواهد شد، اما هر‌که اباطیل را پیروی نمایدناقص العقل است.

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]; but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].

۱۲ مرد شریر به شکار بدکاران طمع می‌ورزد، اما ریشه عادلان میوه می‌آورد.

13 In the transgression of the lips is an evil snare; but a righteous [man] shall go forth out of trouble.

۱۳ در تقصیر لبها دام مهلک است، اما مردعادل از تنگی بیرون می‌آید.

14 A man is satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

۱۴ انسان از ثمره دهان خود از نیکویی سیرمی شود، و مکافات دست انسان به او رد خواهدشد.

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.

۱۵ راه احمق در نظر خودش راست است، اماهر‌که نصیحت را بشنود حکیم است.

16 The vexation of the fool is presently known; but a prudent [man] covereth shame.

۱۶ غضب احمق فور آشکار می‌شود، اماخردمند خجالت را می‌پوشاند.

17 He that uttereth truth sheweth forth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.

۱۷ هر‌که به راستی تنطق نماید عدالت را ظاهرمی کند، و شاهد دروغ، فریب را.

18 There is that babbleth like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.

۱۸ هستند که مثل ضرب شمشیر حرفهای باطل می‌زنند، اما زبان حکیمان شفا می‌بخشد.

19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

۱۹ لب راستگو تا به ابد استوار می‌ماند، اما زبان دروغگو طرفه العینی است.

20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

۲۰ در دل هر‌که تدبیر فاسد کند فریب است، اما مشورت دهندگان صلح را شادمانی است.

21 There shall no evil happen to a righteous [man]; but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

۲۱ هیچ بدی به مرد صالح واقع نمی شود، اماشریران از بلا پر خواهند شد.

22 Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.

۲۲ لبهای دروغگو نزد خداوند مکروه است، اما عاملان راستی پسندیده او هستند.

23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of the foolish proclaimeth folly.

۲۳ مرد زیرک علم را مخفی می‌دارد، اما دل احمقان حماقت را شایع می‌سازد.

24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful [hand] shall be under tribute.

۲۴ دست شخص زرنگ سلطنت خواهدنمود، اما مرد کاهل بندگی خواهد کرد.

25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.

۲۵ کدورت دل انسان، او را منحنی می‌سازد، اما سخن نیکو او را شادمان خواهد گردانید.

26 The righteous guideth his neighbour; but the way of the wicked misleadeth them.

۲۶ مرد عادل برای همسایه خود هادی می‌شود، اما راه شریران ایشان را گمراه می‌کند.

27 The slothful roasteth not what he took in hunting; but man's precious substance is to the diligent.

۲۷ مرد کاهل شکار خود را بریان نمی کند، امازرنگی، توانگری گرانبهای انسان است.

28 In the path of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

۲۸ در طریق عدالت حیات‌است، و درگذرگاههایش موت نیست.
