Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth discipline loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
੧ਉਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ।
2 A good [man] obtaineth favour of Jehovah; but a man of mischievous devices will he condemn.
੨ਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਬੁਰੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
੩ਦੁਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਕਦੀ ਪੁੱਟੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
4 A woman of worth is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
੪ਨੇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਟ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਖੱਜਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾੜਾ ਹੈ।
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
੫ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਨਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤਾਂ ਛਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
6 The words of the wicked are a lying-in-wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
੬ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਘਾਤ ਲਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
7 Overthrow the wicked, and they are no [more]; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
੭ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਪਟਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਸਥਿਰ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
8 A man is commended according to his wisdom; but he that is of a perverted heart shall be despised.
੮ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਪੁੱਠੀ ਸੋਚ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੁੱਛ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
੯ਜੋ ਰੋਟੀਓਂ ਵੀ ਤੰਗ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਛੋਟਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ।
10 A righteous man is concerned for the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
੧੦ਧਰਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਸੁੱਧ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਦਯਾ ਵੀ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless is void of understanding.
੧੧ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਬ ਕੇ ਵਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰੱਜ ਕੇ ਖਾਵੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਨਿਕੰਮੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਹੈ।
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]; but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
੧੨ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਬੁਰਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲ ਲਈ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਫਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
13 In the transgression of the lips is an evil snare; but a righteous [man] shall go forth out of trouble.
੧੩ਬੁਰਿਆਰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਨਾਲ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿੱਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
14 A man is satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
੧੪ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਤੇਹੀ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਭਰਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
੧੫ਮੂਰਖ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਸਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
16 The vexation of the fool is presently known; but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
੧੬ਮੂਰਖ ਦਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਝੱਟ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਨਿਰਾਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਣਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
17 He that uttereth truth sheweth forth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
੧੭ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੱਚੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਝੂਠਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਛਲ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
18 There is that babbleth like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
੧੮ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੋਚੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
੧੯ਸਚਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ, ਪਰ ਝੂਠ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
੨੦ਬੁਰੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਛਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
21 There shall no evil happen to a righteous [man]; but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
੨੧ਧਰਮੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਵੇਗੀ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
22 Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.
੨੨ਝੂਠੇ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of the foolish proclaimeth folly.
੨੩ਸਿਆਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful [hand] shall be under tribute.
੨੪ਉੱਦਮੀ ਲੋਕ ਉੱਚੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਪਰ ਆਲਸੀ ਬੇਗਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣੇਗਾ।
25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.
੨੫ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਝੁਕਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਚੰਗਾ ਬਚਨ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
26 The righteous guideth his neighbour; but the way of the wicked misleadeth them.
੨੬ਧਰਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਭਟਕਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
27 The slothful roasteth not what he took in hunting; but man's precious substance is to the diligent.
੨੭ਆਲਸੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੰਨਦਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਉੱਦਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਨਮੋਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
28 In the path of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
੨੮ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
