Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth discipline loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
Chi ama la correzione ama la scienza; Ma chi odia la riprensione [è] insensato.
2 A good [man] obtaineth favour of Jehovah; but a man of mischievous devices will he condemn.
L'uomo da bene ottiene benevolenza dal Signore; Ma egli condannerà l'uomo malizioso.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
L'uomo non sarà stabilito per empietà; E la radice de' giusti non sarà smossa.
4 A woman of worth is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
La donna di valore [è] la corona del suo marito; Ma quella che reca vituperio gli [è] come un tarlo nelle ossa.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
I pensieri de' giusti [son] dirittura; [Ma] i consigli degli empi [son] frode.
6 The words of the wicked are a lying-in-wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
La parole degli empi [tendono] ad insidiare al sangue; Ma la bocca degli [uomini] diritti li riscoterà.
7 Overthrow the wicked, and they are no [more]; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
In un voltar degli empi, essi non [saranno più]; Ma la casa de' giusti starà in piè.
8 A man is commended according to his wisdom; but he that is of a perverted heart shall be despised.
L'uomo sarà lodato secondo il suo senno; Ma chi è stravolto d'animo sarà in isprezzo.
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
Meglio [è] colui del quale non si fa stima, e pure ha un servitore, Che colui che fa il borioso, ed ha mancamento di pane.
10 A righteous man is concerned for the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
[L'uomo] giusto ha cura della vita della sua bestia; Ma le viscere degli empi [son] crudeli.
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless is void of understanding.
Chi lavora la sua terra sarà saziato di pane; Ma chi va dietro agli uomini oziosi [è] scemo d'intelletto.
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]; but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
L'empio appetisce la rete de' malvagi; Ma la radice de' giusti mette fuori.
13 In the transgression of the lips is an evil snare; but a righteous [man] shall go forth out of trouble.
Il laccio del malvagio [è] nella dislealtà delle labbra; Ma il giusto uscirà di distretta.
14 A man is satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
L'uomo sarà saziato di beni per lo frutto della [sua] bocca; E [Dio] renderà all'uomo la retribuzione [dell'opere] delle sue mani.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
La via dello stolto [è] diritta al suo parere; Ma chi ascolta consiglio [è] savio.
16 The vexation of the fool is presently known; but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
Il cruccio dello stolto è conosciuto lo stesso giorno; Ma l'avveduto copre il vituperio.
17 He that uttereth truth sheweth forth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
Chi parla verità rapporta il giusto; Ma il falso testimonio [rapporta] frode.
18 There is that babbleth like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
Ei vi è tale che pronunzia [parole] simile a coltellate; Ma la lingua de' savi [è] medicina.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Il labbro verace sarà stabile in perpetuo; Ma la lingua bugiarda [sarà sol] per un momento.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Inganno [è] nel cuor di coloro che macchinano del male; Ma [vi è] allegrezza per quelli che consigliano pace.
21 There shall no evil happen to a righteous [man]; but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
Niuna molestia avverrà al giusto; Ma gli empi saranno ripieni di male.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.
Le labbra bugiarde [son] cosa abbominevole al Signore; Ma coloro che operano in verità son graditi da lui.
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of the foolish proclaimeth folly.
L'uomo avveduto copre la scienza; Ma il cuor degli stolti pubblica la follia.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful [hand] shall be under tribute.
La mano de' diligenti signoreggerà; Ma la pigra sarà tributaria.
25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.
Il cordoglio nel cuor dell'uomo l'abbatte; Ma la buona parola lo rallegra.
26 The righteous guideth his neighbour; but the way of the wicked misleadeth them.
Il giusto abbonda [in beni] più che il suo prossimo; Ma la via degli empi li fa andare errando.
27 The slothful roasteth not what he took in hunting; but man's precious substance is to the diligent.
Il pigro non arrostisce la sua cacciagione; Ma i beni dell'uomo diligente [sono] preziosi.
28 In the path of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
Nella via della giustizia [vi è] vita; E [nel] cammino de' [suoi] sentieri non [vi è] morte.
