Proverbs 11
1 A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; but a just weight is his delight.
El Señor odia los pesos falsos, pero el peso acertado le complace.
2 [When] pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
El orgullo trae desgracia, pero la humildad trae sabiduría.
3 The integrity of the upright guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them.
La honestidad es la guía de los que hacen el bien, pero el engaño destruye a los mentirosos.
4 Wealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.
La riqueza no te ayudará en el día del juicio, pero la bondad te salvará de la muerte.
5 The righteousness of the perfect maketh plain his way; but the wicked falleth by his own wickedness.
La bondad del inocente lo mantendrá en el buen camino, pero los malvados tropezarán y caerán por su propia maldad.
6 The righteousness of the upright delivereth them; but the treacherous are taken in their own craving.
La bondad de los que viven en rectitud los salvará, pero los deshonestos quedarán atrapados por sus propios deseos.
7 When a wicked man dieth, [his] expectation shall perish; and the hope of evil [men] perisheth.
Cuando una persona malvada muere, sus esperanzas mueren con ella; la esperanza de los rebeldes se desvanecerá.
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
Los rectos son librados de las dificultades, pero los malvados estarán en dificultades.
9 With his mouth a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge are the righteous delivered.
Los rebeldes contra Dios discuten su voluntad y destruyen a su prójimo; pero los justos son salvados por la sabiduría.
10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
Toda la ciudad celebra cuando los buenos tienen éxito; así mismo gritan de alegría cuando mueren los malvados.
11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
Los que viven con ética son una bendición para la ciudad, pero las palabras de los malvados la destruyen.
12 He that despiseth his neighbour is void of heart; but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
Los que denigran a su prójimo no tienen inteligencia; pero los sensatos guardan silencio.
13 He that goeth about talebearing revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
Una persona chismosa anda de aquí para allá divulgando secretos; pero una persona fiel guarda el secreto que le han confiado.
14 Where no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Sin una buena guía, la nación cae; pero la nación se salva por los muchos consejos sabios.
15 It goeth ill with him that is surety for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secure.
Si eres fiador de un extranjero, te meterás en problemas. Estarás más seguro si evitas tales promesas.
16 A gracious woman retaineth honour; and the violent retain riches.
Una mujer refinada se aferra a su honra, así como los hombres implacables se aferran a su riqueza.
17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but the cruel troubleth his own flesh.
Si eres bondadoso, obtendrás recompensa; pero si eres cruel, te harás daño a ti mismo.
18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
El salario que reciben los malvados es engañoso, pero los que siembran bondad, cosecharán una buena recompensa.
19 As righteousness [tendeth] to life, so he that pursueth evil [doeth it] to his own death.
Haz el bien y vivirás. Busca el mal y morirás.
20 The perverse in heart are abomination to Jehovah; but they that are perfect in [their] way are his delight.
El Señor odia las mentes perversas, pero se complace con los que viven una vida de obediencia.
21 Hand for hand! an evil [man] shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
De algo puedes estar seguro: los malvados no se quedaran sin castigo, pero los justos serán salvos.
22 A fair woman who is without discretion, is [as] a gold ring in a swine's snout.
Una mujer hermosa con carencia de buen juicio es como una argolla de oro en el hocico de un cerdo.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
A las buenas personas les espera lo mejor, pero la esperanza de los malvados terminara en muerte.
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but [it tendeth] only to want.
Si das con generosidad, recibirás más; pero si eres mezquino terminaras en la pobreza.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
Si eres generoso te volverás rico; dale a los demás un vaso de agua y recibirás uno también.
26 He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
La gente maldice a los que acumulan el trigo, pero bendicen a quienes lo venden.
27 He that is earnest after good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall come upon him.
Si procuras hacer el bien, serás estimado; pero si buscas el mal, lo encontraras!
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.
Si pones tu confianza en tus riquezas, caerás; pero si haces el bien, florecerás como hojas verdes.
29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
Si eres causa de problemas en tu familia, apenas heredaras aire. Los necios terminan siendo siervos de los que piensan con sabiduría.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and the wise winneth souls.
El fruto de los justos es un árbol de vida. La persona sabia salva a las demás personas.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be requited on the earth: how much more the wicked and the sinner.
Si los justos reciben recompensa aquí en la tierra, ¡cuanto más los malvados!
